They shouldn't exist. It should automatically partition by state. The electors in the college that don't vote with their state just shows that the human element needs to be removed.
Without an electoral college, for example, the democrats would not give a shit about our petroleum industry at all, and we'd be back to buying from head-chopping saudis. But it's ok to support Islamic countries with no women's rights I guess.

Tell me why minority rule is a good thing, other than the minority is the Republicans which you seem to be in favor of. There is no logical reasoning for it. If the country was designed in such a way that 10% of the population chose everything for everyone else, including that guns were outlawed, your religion must be atheism, and no one could drive a car would that be OK? If I really have to explain why letting a majority of the country decide laws is better than letting 2 people decide the laws for everyone, then it's kind of a lost cause
