Why are all conservatards trying to destroy democracy?

Because America is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. Democracies are shitty excuses for governmental systems.

Democracy is a terrible idea. It becomes a matter of convincing a bunch of morons you're a good leader. The only saving grace about American politics is the electoral college, which allows under-represented people to be counted, and not just a bunch of people in cities.

>which allows under-represented people to be counted, and not just a bunch of people in cities.
You're arguing for minority rule. You're not objectively for minority rule, you just like it because it helps Republicans. If cities were conservative and rural was liberal and the electoral college let the minority liberal rule you'd be going apeshit calling for the EC to be abolished. This is why arguments to keep the EC are bullshit and people advocating for it are un-American

In every society ever, and literally just in fairness for governance, majority rules. It doesn't make sense for a small number of people to make the rules for the whole. But the electoral college is literally this, where a small portion of people choose leaders. That's pretty fucking stupid

So basically, I'm un-American for liking the electoral college, because it helps out rural Americans in flyover states? But if democrats lived out in the country, and you didn't like it, it would be ok? Sounds like a double standard.

People are smart enough not to be liberal though. That'll never happen

I wanna take a shit on Cenk Uygar. And I'm a lefty.

>Incessant whining

you are not getting your wish libcuck so you might as well keep depending on what you're drinking your soy and having sex while your estrogen levels are too high which makes you scream at the sky until 2024

> But if democrats lived out in the country, and you didn't like it, it would be ok?
Not sure if trolling or retarded. The EC isn't OK in either scenario dipshit. It's minority rule. I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit since I never said it was OK if things were reversed. Honestly, there should be a reading comprehension test to be able to use this board

>Someone makes an argument
>Best response you can come up with is 'lol liberals bad' and soy memes

They shouldn't exist. It should automatically partition by state. The electors in the college that don't vote with their state just shows that the human element needs to be removed.

Without an electoral college, for example, the democrats would not give a shit about our petroleum industry at all, and we'd be back to buying from head-chopping saudis. But it's ok to support Islamic countries with no women's rights I guess.

>Makes a thought-out, well reasoned argument for EC being bullshit.
>Conservative throws arms in the air yelling 'LOL libcuck you so angry lol I troll u.'
This is why there will never be peace between the two parties. Conservatives just like trying to 'own the libs' even when they look like ignorant pieces of shit in the process. No reasoning needed, well done!

I fail to see why majority rule is such a good thing.

Keep whining

thinking that's a great argument against the electoral college as if your opinion matters dipshit

There should be a reading comprehension test (English) to be able to vote.

Criticizing someone isn't whining.

Tell me why minority rule is a good thing, other than the minority is the Republicans which you seem to be in favor of. There is no logical reasoning for it. If the country was designed in such a way that 10% of the population chose everything for everyone else, including that guns were outlawed, your religion must be atheism, and no one could drive a car would that be OK? If I really have to explain why letting a majority of the country decide laws is better than letting 2 people decide the laws for everyone, then it's kind of a lost cause

I know for a fact Donald Trump would not wear that outfit because Donald Trump is a weird fag about that sort of thing

Look at that impressive memeing.

LOL, keep voting against your best interest my man. Those Republicans will get around to helping the little guy someday. Right after they cut taxes for the ultra wealthy and get rid of your healthcare. At least then the diabetes will kill you and there will be less ignorant rednecks in the country. Honestly, what's the downside again?

I didn't say 10% or 2 people. I think the electoral college is a generally effective system. The natural resources that provide for this country aren't completely concentrated in dense cities. Letting some people Los Angeles decide the fate of a Bakken pipeline, or a metallurgical coal mine in Ohio just because there are more people there, is a fucking stupid idea. America is a big place, we need to let each state have a certain amount of pull. Remember, it's the "United States", plural.

There is no good, objective reason for keeping the electoral college other than 'it helps the people I like win elections.' Prove me wrong

Generally effective? The democratic candidate for president has won the election 6 of the last 7 times, but have only served 16 of the last 27 years. Doesn't seem very effective to me

It's called hyperbole, but sure we can quibble. 70% of this country lives in urban areas. When 7 out of 10 people have similar wants and needs, then yes they should have a larger say over the direction of the country.

When a President orders private companies to do things, isn’t that called Socialism?

And don’t Republicans think Socialism is bad?

Yes, 7/10 have similar wants and needs. Sure, depends on what they define as "urban". But I want you to look at our exports, and you tell me that it would make sense to, for example, ban fracking or offshore drilling. Or halt the petrochemical pipelines.

Democrats generally do not care about the economic repercussions of their decisions. If it was majority wins, they could make all sorts of promises that appeal to the emotional aspects of people in a feelgood manner.

Luckily, the key "swing states" must be treated fairly by politicians on both sides alike, or at least, the politicians need to pretend to care during the election cycle. If it was simple majority rule, we'd lose our energy independence and manufacturing capabilities because out-of-touch city people don't really know fuckall about manufacturing or energy.
