My dad is a 68 year old man with broken knees and arthritis, from chasing the sports meme all his life. And he plays senior softball with other guys who hate him because his entire identity is still stuck in sports.
I'm glad I didn't become like that. I may be a loser who's still training to become good at something. But at least I didn't enter a lifestyle that ends the minute I hit age 35. I can still have a job and a life into old age, unlike people who live by sports.
