Daggerfall sucks ass.

>Thieves guild recruitment quest
>note tells me to contact some guy in Baelworth Hamlet
>go there
>ask around a billion times where contact is
>"This guy is usually found in The Fox and Boar"
>Fox and Boar isn't even present in the town that i got pointed to
>Fox and Boar is nowhere to be found when searching on the world map
Haha ok then cool game

Is there an Arena Unity too?

>not immediately jumping at the wall and climbing back up the shaft
You didn't want to live enough.

I like how this game is basically just fast traveling

So is life, when you think about it.

that first skeleton in the first dungeon slapped my shit so hard... are you supposed to just run?

some guy posted some shit about changing the soundscape to something better like a week ago, does anybody have the gist of the post? I would like to see how much better it really sounds, because the sound in this game is seriously one of the best parts.

Attached: 1551820350426.gif (215x194, 542K)

Not really

In development
twitter.com/aaron_fritz1/status/1110070637790261248

You can slap him only if you use a strong melee user at the start. Barbarian with high strength and agility will breeze through the first dungeon with the ebony dagger

Bumping this thread. I don't have a pc right now so I have to live through tales of your adventures

This
It's good for a few hours, then you realize that dungeons are just tediously searching through the map for passages you haven't went through yet or looking for stupid buttons you missed that could be opening anything on the map.
Also the world is huge, but there's no reason to visit most of it.

Clearly he meant the guy was eaten by a fox and a boar and you were too late

>He doesn't know

finished this last night. it would be easy to do lewd sprites. practically everything is as simple as naming it the same as the vanilla file and dropping it in textures under streaming assets.

Attached: duke strippers.webm (1280x720, 965K)

How do you increase "Dodging"?

Wait, so spell absorbtion only restores the magic you used on the spell? I was hoping i would have a "recharge" spell that rsetored in excess of its cost so i can actually use fun spells

Every round in combat you roll dodge so you are constantly increasing it

What's the purpose of "running", "jumping", "swimming", "climbing"?

it doesn't seem to improve anything as those get higher?

sounds like you are trying very, very hard to make a boring, objectively bad game sound like fun to zoomers.

Daggerfall isn't very good, and it's not about not aging well, just the opposite. It's more quantity over quality than any of Bethesda's modern games. Massive cities, that are just square plots with houses arbitrarily dotting them. The quests and dungeons are lifeless.

porn mods when?

Attached: 1456022589395.png (152x254, 40K)

very relatable op

>1st mage guild quest
>"bro, get me those mummy wrappings" -"mkay"
>travel to and enter dungeon where the mummy lives
>pathway to the right of the entrance leads to descending elevator
>get on it
>immediately skeletons start screaming at me
>"ah shit"
>1st floor down: and i am locked in with 3 of those fuckers
>quickly get off the elevator, run a lap around the room, slap them, get slapped myself
>lap 2 around the room: notice there's a hole in the bottom where the elevator should be
>"oh, it kept going"
>jump down the hole
>"weee, i'm saved"
>2nd floor down: 3 unslapped skeletons waiting for me in the exact same room

why do you hate me todd?

I want to play as naked barbarian. How to optimalse this shit?

find your wiffu in png form and erase to transparency then put it in the texture folder.
done

Minmax the shit out of your dick size

how the fuck does magic work? I can't get a spell to cast to save my life.

i got the same first mages guild quest but never found the mummy i quit the game after dicking around the dungeon for hours.
the only unexplored places left our were doors i couldn't open because of no lockpicking.

Attached: 1452353697160.jpg (1024x1535, 141K)

shake it baby yeah

Todd has nothing to do with this though

i mean with animations and shit.
the default western style of the game is hot enough as it is.

Attached: Daggerfall2.jpg (584x438, 49K)

>this game came out one year sooner and was better in every way
How does that make you feel?

Attached: 0.jpg (640x427, 144K)

>the only unexplored places left our were doors i couldn't open because of no lockpicking
You can bash doors open by repeatedly attacking them. It will take a small while but it works against any non-magical lock.

You can bash them in, brainlet

>doors i couldn't open
Just bash them with a weapon. Works everytime.

>It's more quantity over quality
You mean like modern Bethesda games?

Attached: 1564405926481.jpg (553x351, 15K)

fuck thanks user i hope i actually find this mummy fuck in there because if its empty im quitting again

Well you need to tag magic skills, and you should start with one from each tagged school in your spellbook. You select what you want to cast from the book then hit your interact button. Buy/make more spells in the Mages Guild.

1. save before entering dungeon
2. save after entering dungeon
3. immediately open console and type in tele2qspawn and hit return
4. if it teleports you load the save file from (2.)
5. if it does not teleport you load the save file from (1.) and repeat the steps from there.

also you can hack down door pretty easily my friend

lastly
1. get the recall spell
2. set anchor behind the dungeon entrace
3. after completing the objective, teleport back to the entrance
4. ???
5. profit

that's what I wanted to try next but i cant find the regular NPCs in the files to use as a reference.

After fucking around the game for two days it seems 95% of sidequests are randomly generated dungeon crawling. Is there any way to rush the main story? I've met lady Brianne and she pointed me to some nobles. The Daggerfall Castle lady won't talk to me unless I get enough levels though. Am I on a right track?

I just stared the game. An imp showed up and it says the material of my weapon is ineffective. I don't have any other weapons. Do I have to make a new character?

Ignore it and run away

I feel like it needed more years of development and more advanced tech. I can't understand why literally noone tried to make a game wich is basically Daggerfall fixed.

Don't fight the imp until you have something that works on it

find something steel or greater

Fucking zombies, why are they so strong? They are literally more dangerous than vampires and atronachs.

Need help so I dont make myself OP or wrong numbers.

I didnt realize how insanely important taking the x3 Spellpoint advantage was if you wanna be a spell caster, but im too far in to restart.

Can someone go to there %appdata%/locallow/daggerfallunity(its daggerfall something) and go into there save folder THEN save Data, and tell me the values for.

"SpellPointMultiplier":
SpellPointMultiplierValue":

Mine was 0.5, so I set it to 3 and it does work but I wanna make sure its the correct value, I went from like 40 MP to 222.

Attached: carmack.png (531x467, 59K)

You can punch and kick it to death

Yeah this makes no sense, I can kill a centaur or werewolf with my eyes closed but zombies will btfo me everytime.

What's so important about the ebony dagger? Everyone recommends it on character creation.

Climbing is quite useful for dungeon exploration. Just go forward to a wall and continue until your character start climbing.
He was a betatester, which explains a lot of things.
Sell me that game.

"SpellPointMultiplier": "Times_3_00",
"SpellPointMultiplierValue": 3.0,

Thank you.

but it's not 3D

It has both 2D and 3D sections

God's work.

Attached: asd.jpg (555x471, 39K)

nothing really, it's just a beginner's crutch

I thought about it but I don't get it. What do you mean?

Now it gets interesting, what's the name?

Albion

>I didnt realize how insanely important taking the x3 Spellpoint advantage was if you wanna be a spell caster
can i get a quick rundown?

What's a good class name for a cute dunmer girl who primaries Thaumaturgy, majors Mysticism, and minors Illusion, who runs and jumps around and climbs walls with a bow

I really don't want to be a stealth archer but that seems to be what I became

Sneeder

Arch Stealther

Thotmancer

nigga just walk away, why is this such a fucking hard concept for people?

Are you in the DF Workshop staff?

Please do more!

Anyone using real trees?
It doesn't seem to work, even changing it's priority in the mod list
Send help

IIRC, it only works in some zones at some seasons because it doesn't have enough assets.

Winter 3D trees are not yet implemented.

Sent :)

nah I just messed around with aseprite a bit for web games. thats ripped right from duke nukem but I edited out the stuff covering the boobs and added in the tip animation when she flashes as part of it.

Figured it out, can a mod lock this thread plz?

>Fighters Guild quest
>Get quest to slay lycanthrope
>Go to dungeon
>spend an hour getting lost and slaughtering about 2 dozen werewolves and boars
>Find some random bear in some fucked uo location for a room, and kill it
>Quest progress message appears
>"This must be the werecreature the guild was fuzzing about"
>Quest completed

Guess there weren't any werewolves after all.

Attached: 1472524351518.jpg (640x480, 64K)

The combat is fine. The quests are beyond fucked, and characters and dialogue are non-existent. It's like 100 times worse than Morrowind's information booths. That's why this game is unplayable garbage.

Attached: 1498661110024.jpg (400x578, 55K)

There are werebears in Daggerfall

What fixes do I install with daggerfall setup? It said something about some of them causing complications with unity.

Language fixes/patches are incompatible apparently, rest are fine

>chose spell points x3
>chose Spell absorption General as an advantage
>have 195 spell points total
>used most of them
>walk up to several enemy mages/sorcerers
>they cast spells
>either get hit by them or get "save versus spell made"
>absorb nothing ever
Does Spell Absorption actually work in this?

Attached: 1538785295739.png (382x417, 325K)

Like all elder scrolls games. They are good when you are a kid/teenager.

Oblivion is my favourite.

Cheers m8

No there aren't, only werewolves and wereboars

there's a mod that simplifies dungeons somewhat

>not knowing how liches work

I'm pretty sure it only applies to your own spells. I've been using AoE fireballs and moist of time I'll absorb it.

WHY
WONT
YOU
DIE

Enlighten me then, please

>he doesnt know

Well that's fucking disappointing then. I hoped to absorb other people's spells.
Nice going Bethesda.

Why would anyone want to play Arena? It's just a shitty DOOM clone

It's fun enough, I've been playing it since last thread.

Attached: little arena.jpg (646x508, 162K)

>Make long blade warrior
>Manage to cop a Elven claymore first dungeon from a skeleton warrior.

>nice
>Get there dungeon is huge
>giant is seemingly stuck behind banners that move slightly when clicked.
>save merchant who was abducted by giant but cant kill stuck giant
>realize i've caught the plague
>oh shit

Now trying to make my way to a temple quickly before i die.. Grab some potions of cure disease as well for the future.. I thought immunity to magic prevented disease. blah.

>he knows

>I thought immunity to magic prevented disease
They fixed that exploit

Shame I cant play retro mode while using distant terrain and enhanced sky.

also sometimes buildings in towns will either not load, or be moved a certain distance away? What could be causing that? disabling mods dont do anything. Maybe traveling elsewhere would allow the buildings to load?

>The process of achieving lichdom required that the spellcaster construct a powerful magical artifact, a phylactery, in which the lich stored its life essence. As long as this phylactery was unharmed, the lich was immortal and would attempt to reassemble if it was ever vanquished
en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Lich

Ah well, wouldnt want to be too OP. Also do you sink when swimming in heavy armor? my swim skill is probably shit. but there were some slaughterfish in like a water pit in that giant dungeon and i couldn't swim up when hitting pg up..

Read the manual

Attached: 2019-08-03 20_16_12-Daggerfall - Manual.pdf - Foxit Reader.jpg (862x883, 60K)

I know about phylacteries, I just didn't think they were in Daggerfall. That's neat I guess

You sink at a certain weight, but you can still climb walls to get out

You sink if you carry too much stuff. I'm swimming well enough when my inventory is almost empty.

Attached: 67776666_726515574474425_642084678605471744_n.jpg (261x145, 10K)

That makes sense. I have alot of gold i should bank, and a bunch of elven weapons to sell. My str is only like 62 as well.. Is it true Agility is more valuable with long blade? I think that stat is the skills derived from right?

Daggerfall mod in Skyrim like Skywind when?

>Is it true Agility is more valuable with long blade?
AGI is valuable with any melee weapon so that you can actually hit things.
100 STR still does zero damage if you miss.

Yeah. I also like how the townspeople are all souless robots with the same scripts, character models, and generated names.
And how the world is completely devoid of life or events or anything but towns and dungeon entrances.

This is easily one of the worst, most souless videogames I've ever played. It's like a game a sociopath with autism (or a robot with autism) would create. Literally everything in it is "empty" and without meaning or purpose.

I doubt gamebryo could handle it.

Definitely made me appreciate Morrowind a lot more.

So, how the hell do I level up? Seems like my primary skills, and secondary skills don't matter much. I'm only level 2 but it takes about 100 monsters to level up, it feels like.

Is this your first ES?

en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Leveling_and_Skills#Leveling_Mechanics

No. It's just that it's extremely easy to level up in morrowind or skyrim or oblivion than arena or daggerfall.

>faggots keep praising the huge cities
>90% of them are residences which you'd probably never enter anyway and have nothing interesting outside

Is there a better place than file.io to upload these stripper pngs and keep the filenames the same?

i cant join the mages guild due to reputation.
is there anyway i can check my reputations also how can i get mages guild reputation if they won't let me join and get quests

Attached: 1512084624597.png (403x448, 53K)

You can still do quests for them and raise your rep.

F5 affiliations

Something I noticed is that some building marked as a residence in the map was actually a store.
The problem with the big cities, as everything else in the game, is that it's half-backed and not actually finished.

man, fuck giants
what the hell
all my hits miss em

Attached: Comfy Daggerfall2.jpg (3188x1722, 602K)

Attached: FUCK THE POLICE.png (2469x261, 348K)

That makes sense. Think i'll remake my character and tweak it a bit. My onoy other question is when i rest i level up in seemingly random intervals? It seems like the skills that level are ones i use. although sometimes i dont realize i am using them.. Do i jeed to be concious about how i play? so i don't lag behind in other critical skills? and are there some skills that need to be trained versus using them? I feel like the language skills need training.. as that would make sense? Vsrsus slashing spiders with a long blade to improve that skill.

Had the same issue but i was hit with a plague.. And my agility is only 50. I assume we'd need higher agility and critical strike skill/weapon skill.

>Even the lore has bugs
Toooooooodd!

where's the fucking sapphire bros?

>It's just a shitty DOOM clone
It's not a very good game, but c'mon do you even think about what you're saying before you say it?

No one has tried because it's a shit idea. Procedurally-generated characters/worlds/dungeons/etc will always feel souless and repetitive. At least until AI algorithms are advanced enough to trick us into mistaking them for hand-crafted ones... and even then it could still feel like quantity over quality if there's too much 'content' with no purpose, emotional resonance, or deeper meaning.

There's nothing between most things and you're not the one traveling

Thats the elder scrolls formula, morrowind is the black sheep of the series becsuse of that

>Literally everything in it is "empty" and without meaning or purpose

Kind of like real life

Daggerfall isn't so much a game as it is a fantasy life simulator.

This desu.

>I've been playing RPGs since 1974
How are we only on Gen 8

>open second door in dungeon

>reload

>take another quest
>get mummy wrappings
>enter dungeon, hear sounds I dont recognize
>dungeon is full of giants, scorpions and orc sergeants that paralyze me despite Im immune to paralysis

wtf, did they broke level scaling or sth, Im literally level 2
also did that absorb spell magic training trick get fixed? do I absorb only destruction part of the spell?

How do you find old internet posts like this, anyway?

I wanna read old video game and wrestling complaints

>only part of dungeon I havent been to is behind magically locked doors
Doors that are "magically locked" means it needs to be unlocked by interacting with an object elsewhere in the same block. They don't spawn randomly.

>bethesda needs a new engine
>just license the quake engine
>a fucking '74 boomer posturing about "real rpgs"
literally nothing changes.
I wonder if erik is happy that beth just up and bought idsoft 12 years later

Google Groups rolled the usenet archive into their platform, you can search for old posts there.
Like this one for example:
groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg/fSGAjQN_Pqw/cSpioOOOnQQJ

How come this game is suddenly big again? Also does it have a growing modding scene?

me on the right

mediafire.com/file/0auklb2lb2xufpo/DukeStripper.zip/file
PNGs for this copy them into streaming_assets/textures and it replaces the bar maid with the stripper in the webm. I dont know if mods will override it.

Someone made it on the unity engine, so now you can mod the shit out of it and fix bugs. Also it is very good for simulating autism

Based and Ultimapilled

Any huge overhaul mods yet? The game has huge potential, but 99% of its empty space.

wew

Attached: daggerfall rumors.jpg (1705x378, 58K)

No. Hopefully someone makes something to fill the empty space and add to what is already there, instead of reworking everything. Procgenning some rare but interesting NPCs would help immensely

Fast traveling early game and having a zombie attack you is game over

Quality mid-90's shitposting right there.

Just run away on your horse.

Have yet to complete a fucking quest
I got one to retrieve a sapphire from a castle
Sapphire is nowhere to be seen after exploring the whole dungeon for over an hour

I kind of wish I grew up during the 80s and 90s eras of the internet

???

Is unity done already? Or is better to keep playing the original?

You would both love it and hate it.

Attached: DOOM 7.png (1897x1133, 37K)

Don't you get it fool? They lied to you.
Such are the possibilities in this game

>back when people were genuinely invested in conversing with each other because this was still groundbreaking

I think NPCs genuinely send you on fake quests if they think you are an asshole faggot just to get you dead of away from their village

>I can't just barge in people's homes and kill them
Wtf I don't wanna just fight guards

I don't know what is all the fuss about the game being difficult! I've just beaten an assassin so hard, even my character feels bad about it! Haha. I just saved after the fight and I think I will continue my epic journey tomorrow. Wish me a good playthrough! I really like my character, I hope he goes far.

Attached: 20190803221845_1.png (1920x1080, 3.35M)

Has anyone tried some of the non-guild missions? How are they?
Like you can enter a castle or tavern and talk to the NPC's and often you'll get a mission. I always click No because I want to talk to them and ask them for information. But at a quick glance those missions don't seem like the copypasta missions that you get from guilds.

Once you compete an inn mission, suddenly everyone in the inn will also have a quest for you to do.
So far I've did rescue missions from the DB and a kid stolen by orcs in a dungeon, killed beast infested shops, solved a riddle and killed a guy for it.

where are the updoots? i don't know who to agree with

;_;

Oh fuck I just realised I did the exact same thing, fuck I was wondering where that ailment came from. Can I cure it or am I fucked?

Will future update need a new game?

Are the rewards worth it/any different?

Just agree with the most based ones.

Attached: The TRUTH about Diablo.png (1039x2168, 423K)

No, your saves should work regardless of the version of the game. Just watch out for any mods that change dungeon generation, if you're inside one and load/unload the mod you may be fucked.

> i used to be into gaming until i got my modem and went cyper punk, now i just cruise the nets
lol

TL;DR no
I was able to load a game from an early alpha version of DFU no problem. You can also import a save game from an original Daggerfall (DOS) playthrough. There's of course no guarantees, but I seriously doubt that a future update will break your save game that you've made in THIS version of DFU since this version includes all of the vanilla Daggerfall features.

Can someone post boomer as imp while zoomer cant damage him with iron weapon picture? I saw it while I was reading on phone away from country

Nice thanks

Attached: daggerfall imp.png (1204x754, 923K)

Slaughterfish are weak but they sure are scary

Based, thanks. I can finally continue my daggerfall saves after rescuing this precious picture.

So yeah there are mods, but can someone tell me which are the GOOD or essential ones?

This is bretty good.

% of them are residences which you'd probably never enter anyway and have nothing interesting outside

That's why they are interesting, they feel like cities. Having 6 houses all of which have super important quests in them doesn't feel like a city it feels like a theme park.

this doesn't seem right

They also give you wrong directions when they don't like you or you are unfortunate enough to ask directions during jester's day.

Honestly gonna have to wait for big overhauls and big boy mods, this is kinda the start of it. Play vanilla but get Enhanced Sky and Terrain Distance.

I tend to max out at around an hour and a half before I tele to the objective.

Very nice. Guard quests in Mages Guild are great for early levels equipment..

Yeah, Lysandus appears to have been born before both of his parents.

Damn that's some crazy luck.

Doesn't seem to be much of a difference from fastest to fantastic settings, unless you use the shitty shadows I guess.

Don't you lose reputation when you grab the item because it counts as stealing?

This reminds me of when Wasteland 2 came out and people didn't realize you could blow away locked doors with dynamite
The restrictive nature of modern games has hurt your creativity, fren

22 years pass and the same criticism can be said about Bethesda today

Attached: 1553913830046.jpg (500x376, 23K)

I found the mommy shit with relatively no trouble. My only trouble was this creature that chased me around laughing in a really sinister way, I was legit scared and wanted to escape the place Asap. That thing killed me in one opportunity but I couldn't see what it was

you sure could spend a lot of time reading books in the mage's guild

then again, if it was possible in newer games, people would render lockpicking useless

There are two types of guard quest:
1. Protect the item. You'll get a shitty gem.
2. Protect the mage. You'll get an enchanted item.

Pretty much, pre morrowind TES was just a slightly more fleshed out version of a typical fantasy world.

events from both games come up later in the series, and honestly I think Kirkbride's writing is overrated

The whole dragonbreak thing happened in Daggerfall.

awesome. are there any more?

>overrated
Id argue no, im not saying his lore is some masterpiece, but fuck me if it aint original and extremely interesting, he laid the base, now TES lore has almost limitless potential, its up to how they use it now.

Fuck what was that again? Was that when time itself breaks and multiple futures and timelines can co-exist at the exact same time? Even the past?

Morrowind is the game that built much of the franchise's identity.

What setting is it so dungeons arent bright as fuck, ive never even come close to needing a lightsource.

I guess you could say the Pocket Guide that shipped with Redguard was the birth of Tamriel "as we know it", but Daggerfall's still plenty relevant especially when it comes to the main quest and the few historical lore books it offers.
There's this misconception people have that it's somehow been rewritten by dragon breaks or whatever but that really isn't true. It's more like the dragon breaks confirmed that yours and everyone else's individual playthroughs are plausibly canon, since no matter which ending you picked it really happened.
When TES retcons it doesn't just go "yeah that didn't happen", it fills in blanks and adds new perspectives. The worst that's happened is that some old books have gone out of print and their ideas seemingly forgotten (e.g. Ebonarm).

>overrated

Naw, the lore is the only real improvement the series has made since dropping the daggerfall design philosophy.

Yeah Kirkbride (among others) really fleshed out the lore during Morrowind. There are numerous quotes from the crew saying that Todd wanted to "go back" to a more classic fantasy setting for Oblivion.

Yes and no. Reading the lorebooks and shit isn't anything all that special (though I would argue it is still good). It's what they did with his ideas that makes it so good. Morrowind has the best setting out of any of the games.

they're only there when the mages guild is "open" like from 11am to whatever at night

Man I feel like I was the only one that played that game, it was my introduction into pc rpgs and I was hooked for life

My monitor is calibrated correctly, I didn't adjust anything in-game.

I was just reading, it sounds like the Dragon Break has multiple things happening at once, even contradicting, yet once the timeline reshapes at the end, all of them were truth.

I really like that, its a neat way of time shit.

Dragonbreaks make no sense to me, for example time breaks into 3 different time lines
In the first one Timmy stole a candy
In the second one he doesn't and goes away
In the third one he bought it
Now all of this co-exists?

Ikr, this clown must've been really into Neuromancer

There was an event called the Rend in arena that pretty much made the lore what it is today. Afazatan (basically an old god trapped in sort of human skeleton form, to put it in simple terms) time travelled to around 2000 years into the future where he saw ashes and a race of snake people ruling tamriel, and above them stood Vivec. The whole premise of each game has a sub plot where The Cult of the Aftermath (aka Blades) are manipulated to try and stop Vivec and get Afazatan back to present time because he is stuck there, eternally fightin the then immortal vivec (Afazatan is a skeleton necromancer therefore in a way he is also immortal as he just resurrects himself when he dies). He is not yet immortal in present times, but killing him would end the universe and wake the sleeper as vivec achived CHIMA (advanced version of CHIM, where vivec becomes so powerful that he becomes an etheral parasite on the sleepers brain, slowly taking over his consciousness). You can find all this info in arena if you dig deep.

Daggerfall already set up all TES mythology. There are books in the game about Hircine bloodmoon prophecy and Oblivion crisis.

Attached: 1365113897.or.60526.png (320x240, 109K)

Whats so good about that game?

Thanks. Thought I got screwed over.

How are you meant to work out these kinds of quests? I have no leads at all and the name doesn't appear in the townsperson dialogue options.

I look at it more in the fact, all 3 can happen, therefore did happen, but not everyone saw the same thing, but once merged, all 3 peoples account of it were true.

Wow, had no idea Vivec or CHIMs concept were THAT old.

Removing titles and dates and replacing all names with "TES"... Could have been posted yesterday desu

When you did the Daggerfallsetup(the recommended one) did you make SURE you checked the Quest fixes shit? By default they arent selected IIRC. I missed it my first time and completely fucked my first run over.

OR, you are in the wrong location, this isnt a bug, read where it says they are or located. Someone in lets say Daggerfall isnt gonna have knowledge of anyone in another town/city.

What button for console commands?

I get it that MK gets fellated so hard by some types it gets tiresome to the rest of us, but you can't really overstate how instrumental him and Kuhlmann were to the development of TES as a setting from a kitchen sink mess to the pretty unique thing it is today
My only problem is how easily Kuhlmann is forgotten and MK's name gets tossed around like it was all him
It was a team effort and everybody in the dev team contributed to the whole

like every other game zoom zoom.

why am i so fucking slow when i levitate? even on horseback.

So Timmy believes he bought the candy, the owner of the shop says he stole it while another customer who was in the place says he walked away empty handed? All those things happened but all those people have different memories of the occurrence because they were all real?

Very funny, § isnt opening shit.

Have you ever tried to levitate in real life dumbass? Weight affects your levitation speed

I'm having a hard time deciding which region is best, I just travel from place to place while doing jobs for the mages guild.

Just read the manual.

Yes, thats what I think. You gotta remember, anytime a ANY story involves time fuckery, its open to interpretation and usually shit, I really only think Chrono Trigger in gaming did it best.

`

Pure reddit.

After having gone back and played the old games I've been noticing a lot more references as I go. Sure it's probably mostly meant as an in-joke for fans, but it's kind of funny that they even went as far as to describe High Rock in the 1st PGE as basically exactly as we saw it in Daggerfall, complete with a seemingly copy-pasted society that is packed full of abandoned fortresses and particularly fond of random quests.

>Youths of all professions and trades in High Rock spend their free time in knightly pursuits, real and imagined, performing good deeds and the like for all and sundry, in oft-vain efforts to achieve, one day, a noble status. This "quest-obsession," more than anything, has served as High Rock's sense of national identity, a peculiar form of altruism and mutual reliance that binds its people together.
>[...]
>Now Tiber Septim has begun a program of demolition of these myriad fortresses, a wise policy that should facilitate prosperity while removing a potential refuge for subversives.
>[...]
>Although the Bretons are divided into numerous mutually antagonistic factions, to the outsider a singular uniformity in dress, architecture, and customs prevails throughout the land. Bretons are not an imaginative people, a legacy of the Elves, perhaps, and traditional ways are not lightly abandoned. Their villages are pleasant collections of half-timbered structures of one or two stories, with the rustic inn, a shop or two, and perhaps a lordly manor completing the picture. The traveler need not visit more than a handful of Breton communities before satisfying himself that he has captured the flavor of the whole. The people, too, despite their cherished particularism, are remarkably similar in name, accent, and dress throughout the province. It may be that this unacknowledged homogeneity bodes well for the future harmony of High Rock.

Attached: High Rock PGE.png (505x1632, 1.21M)

I think you're not supposed to install any patches for the old game.

Nothing, maybe its glitched?

So uh is this better or worse than the original

I would play the original first and then the unity remaster

I've seen people ride normally through the sky. My horse doesn't gallop anymore when I levitate with it. No animation plays. I'm guessing Unity "fixed" that too?

Okay thanks

Far better, and potential to finally become fully realized but thats gonna take some years.

It still has some issues like dungeons can still generate impossible shit.

Literally no reason to.

Half the fun when I was a kid playing Starcraft was speaking to people from all over the world.

They're all the same except for what region they call home. Same quests, services, skills, etc. so your choice of knightly order should be based on whatever your favorite region is.

I mean that's what the people believe but what actually happened?
Did the candy disappear from the shelf, the money it's in the shopper pocket but the candy disappeared from timmy hands? That's the only way I can mix the 3 together
If I kill someone in one timeline but in another one I don't, it means that the guy is both alive and dead? Like he would remember his own death and probably look at his own dead body but still be alive since the two things mixed together, the time fuckery literraly cloned him

>you can drop gold into your wagon
nani the fuck? how have i never noticed this before

That's kinda funny, but at the same time I still feel like Daggerfall did a better job at trying to portray an actual fantasy society over almost every other TES game that came after it where every town is comprised of six fucking guys and four houses with no infrastructure and the entire world feels like a theme park rather than a province.

Attached: 1476517845256.png (640x480, 33K)

I didn't install anything other than what was recommended just to fix the bugs and glitches, it might have all even come in one installer, it was a while ago.

No it didn't. That was made up later as a way to make all 6 of Daggerfall's different endings canon. It never actually happened in Daggerfall.

Well it runs smoother than the original. And the image quality is better of course. And there's support for mapping to more mouse buttons. And the viewing distance is higher. And you can drag the map instead of clicking buttons. And... you get the idea.

Something is lost in translation though. Combat feels different. Got it close with some tweaking though.

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.jpg (2560x1440, 495K)

Morrowind is the most over rated game in the series

Attached: Reminder that Daggerfall is best.jpg (844x186, 47K)

I remember the first time I played online I was so excited about the fact that I was talking to someone from the United States in real time.

In terms of immersion absolutely, it makes a huge difference being able to actually feel like you're in a city instead of just reading about it, though in terms of detail and worldbuilding not as much. I just think it's interesting that they took the one part of Daggerfall that we would be most expected to say "well that's just the limitations of the game/engine/time/resources, it's not really like that" and decided it was fucking real.
also:
>You must know something about a bit of toil and grind.

Attached: dfteam.jpg (586x464, 71K)

I think that means he did DIE, and that one is gone, and people who knew him would know he died, but then the one who lived, those who knew him also wouldnt know he died. I think a DragonBreak is like multiple timelines, so think parallel there were in a way multiple set of these people, then once the timeline merged, the memories became truth, even if contradicting, but ultimately left with only 1 set of the people, even if events had 3.

You have to realize, it IS contradicting, it doesnt hide that.

isnt the combat due to none of us playing on CRT(probably)

I respect Daggerfall as a technological marvel for its time and a really neat concept but when we distance ourselves from that it's just a decent/average game and nothing more.

The more things change...

dropping gold was removed as a feature in oblivion

I am fucking LOVING the dialog system, it could be more robust and interesting, but the actual mechanics of it might be the best in TES. I hate how Bethesda uses VA because that limits how much you can write because the more you write, the more time and money spent on VA.

Elder Scrolls Online somehow is the best VA though, shitloads and shitloads of unique VA and the best writing since morrowind.

>Unauthorized orgy
Oi cunt do youhave a loicense for that orgy?

one of the advantages in custom class making gives you 3x the spell points, if you don't take it you wont even be able to cast your strongest starter spells most of the time, maybe once if you have high int, but a spellsword would be fucked.

Zombies hit like fucking logs bro
F

I dont think anyone with a brain in this thread would disagree, what im excited for is what the next like 5 years have for it. It now has the potential to be something incredible. It has really fucked up bugs like dungeons generating impossible shit, insane pixel hunting, terrible feedback on said pixel hunting when you find an interactable that opened somewhere in your massive dungeon, and repetitive quests.

Honestly if you want an old technological marvel dungeon crawler just play System Shock 1.

Yeah but Skyrim brought back the ability to put gold into containers even though you still can't drop it on the ground. Progress is being made.

I was also pleasantly surprised by TESO. Might get back into it and buy the expacs. The DB and TG questlines were tons of fun. It's unironically a better RPG than Skyrim.

That's because gold actually has weight in daggerfall

Attached: 23fb5aa34a6ae39b3942cb4357b33f79.jpg (453x424, 54K)

Do you have a source? Beyond just, "it's in Arena."

ah, i remember checking over and over everything i wrote to make it look as proffessional possible, yet carrying some informality.

Not really no, TES games have problems but most of them stem from the way they fixed the issues of Daggerfall, none of the criticism in those posts can apply even to Morrowind.

never buy the DLC, the monthly sub is far cheaper and gives you EVERYTHING(including past Expacs) PLUS fucking like 1600 crowns a month(the shit to BUY dlc)

All you need to buy is the base(which you have), the monthly sub, and Elswyr, which I did the MQ for, it was rather good, nice zone, nice trial, dragons are good farming.

Vvardenfall/Morrowind MQ is still the best.

Based Decay telling the truth that Diablo and all the games it spawned are just vehicles for simplistic, mindless and utterly shit gameplay packaged with nice grafix and music.

Oh and to add, doing the MQ in Elyswr gives a nice large house, and doing nearly all of the content in it gets you 3 more wings which are also large, its a fucking massive house for free.

Important question:
Do I need to be a member of a temple to use the potion maker? Because I am a member to Kynareth... and they don't have any... AT ALL.

Its hidden in the code

hes unironically right with D1, but D2 was fucking insanely good. It only got bested by PoE.

FUCK THIS QUEST
FUCK THIS DUNGEON
AND FUCK THE MAGES GUILD

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA STOP AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.jpg (2560x1440, 511K)

What like the developers left secret messages? Can you post a picture or something.

yeah the gameplay evolved from click click click to click click push button click
I sure hope those artists and musicians are getting paid well since those are the only redeeming factors of Diablolikes.

magical enemies have physical weapon immunity and need to be struck by something that has a better material than steel.

ebony dagger is the difference between finishing a quest dungeon or being repelled by a physical-immune enemy.

Yeah, yeah forgot that Morrowind and Summerset are considered DLC now and not expacs so they qualify for the "you get all DLC" perk from the subscription.

Is there a difference between horse and cart modes of movement?

Bags and the coins themselves exist outside of containers, shoulnt be hard to implement.

>complaining about spooky skeletons

I don't even need weapons to kill em if you pick the right skills in character creation come on fellas, and it's a nice touch picking female actually has a nice voice if you die compared to the originals

Attached: Punching Skeletons with Magic Fist.png (1366x768, 346K)

so
if i pay for
ESO plus
for a month
i can explore morrowind?

Cant jump with the cart.

The requiem mod for skyrim had gold as an actual item with weight. Pretty good mod if you want skyrim to feel like a CRPG

Morrowind is base now actually, no need for the sub. Summerset needs the sub.

All of the other DLC is in the sub except Elswyr because it released last month.

you are looking at them wrong, I know they arent for everyone, but the point is the grind and how good the itemization and grind feels. D2 had the best itemization, PoE has the best content.

PoE also uses 6 skill slots.

Zombies dabbing on every single other enemy in the game always cracks me up, even with their low health they're consistently dangerous while Atronachs and Mummies and Gargoyles Werewolves / Werboars are completely harmless

Is that the room where all the doors open at once when you go in the middle? I remember getting this room once but it was full of daedra lords or liches or something that made me shit my pants. I was somewhere around lvl 20

>morrowind is base now

well ill be exploring that later then comparing and contrasting to the 2002 game

>Werewolves / Werboars are completely harmless

This, with mods there's no limit to how great this game can get IMO. This is all just the beginning.

Why play Daggerfall when Might & Magic 6 exists? It's the same shit but better, with a handcrafted open world and dungeons.

Attached: might and magic.jpg (980x735, 220K)

>Give you bad directions when they don't like you
This actually blew my mind when it happened. I asked for directions to someones house and the guy marked them and I went there and it totally wasn't the right fucking house despite being clearly marked on the map. The right house was on the other side of the village.

>not carrying Cure Disease potions
>not being a member of a temple

You brought it on yourself. They're total jokes in combat and the chance of getting infected is non-existent once you start one-shotting them.

Has M&M 6 got a Unity remake with a modding scene?

Just to be clear spell absorption requires you to have the free magicka to absorb the spell. The reason it works for your spells is because you burn exactly the same amount as it would absorb.

You can't absorb more than your max magicka and you can only absorb it if you are also missing that much magicka. It is presumably to prevent warriors from taking it and being utterly invincible to magic.

it doesn't need to, or you can play might and magic x legacy

MM6-7-8 has the merge mod that lets you play all three games in one engine and high resolution.

Happened to me too, I was playing as a barbarian so I talked like a brute, I asked some people where the fighters guild was and everyone told me to fuck off, finally one guy told me it was north. I walked north like an idiot trying to find the guild, turns out it was south I had to check every blue building in the map to find it

>micromanaging a party of flailing retards vs being the most powerful flailing retard
different strokes and also dark messiah is the best might & magic game.

be warrior use healing magicka, absorb spent magicka, use healing magicka be immune to spells and decapitate some robe wearing fools

the quest lines of might and magic series is far superior to Daggerfall. The only positive note about the latter is the size of the map.

Dude, stop spamming this. I like M&M, but Daggerfall is a different game.

What should I do for a starting build? The only idea I have currently is some sort of battlemage, don't know what weapon to use if any, or what magic to use.

You can be proficient in everything, just pick a custom class with 20+ hp and 3xMP.

Why the fuck is asking around town for directions so fucking difficult whenever I get a quest.
Like I got all these quests that should be simply "Go here and deliver this for me kthxbai" and then I ask around town and everyone either tells me to fuck off or flat out gives me the wrong directions.

My streetwise could be much worse for a starting character too. I don't get this shit.

I was given two quests by the Fighter's Guild that seem impossible to complete. One to defend the woman from an assassin, except after I showed up at the house and killed the bad guy she does absolutely nothing, won't even speak to me.
The second was to solve defamation; eventually I was led to the exact house to find a piece of paper that just doesn't exist.
Annoying.

i'm just here to shitpost
i hate video games

Is my main quest fucked? About half a year ago in game I did the quest in Wayrest where you deliver the letter for the princess to the King of Worms and a few of the main quests in Daggerfall City. The Wiki says that the King of Worms guy is supposed to send a zombie to kill me and that starts the quest, but nothing has happened for a few in game months. Is my game bugged? Do I need to restart?

Longblades are the most ubiquitous, that's basically any one or two handed sword that isn't a shortsword. Pair that with destruction and restoration and you're golden.

IMO it seems that Daggerfall really is designed for battlemage classes. The game assumes you will have some kind of magic proficiency but also it's almost always essential to be handy with a weapon too, pure-ing destruction or archery isn't really viable. Which I think is one of the game's big flaws to be honest. Say what you will about Skyrim, but you can take pretty much any singular combat skill and make a viable build out of it. I've had a lot of fun recently with a glass cannon conjurer for example.

I just realized some of the brassieres have slight areola slips

EXITUS!
(exitus exitus)

>automap with cmd

Yeah this is a fucking alpha alright

I've come to the conclusion that it's better to just check all the fucking buildings yourself if you can't get a correct answer from an NPC within a few tries.

I saw someone had the same issue before, how'd you fix it?

Attached: file.png (1294x1062, 318K)

Did you guys install the basegame with any fixes or shit that was bundled with the installer?
I didn't install any but I'm wondering if I should have.

Yes you should install the patches and fixes included with daggerfallsetup. DF Unity is technically using that game install's data so it affects the game there too.

Dward Fortress Adventure mode you absolute faggot morrowqueer
Can we move these threads to /vr/ so we don't have to deal with retards? Please?

Neat.
No source ports and the community is full of purist spergs who hates digital gog versions

Not really because alot of the lore is based on the Arena devs D&D campaign. Most first age characters mentioned in later games were once player characters in that campaign.

All daedric princes are named over Usernet admins who were friends with todd and bethesda devs

God I forgot how much I loved this type of game design. When devs said "how do I make X work in a video game" instead of " I like mechanic X in game Y so I'm going to put it here"

heh

Todd gave everyone Daggerfall for free cause he's such a great guy. I think I may buy another copy of Skyrim™ Special Edition™ just thinking about how great he and Bethesda™ are!

Huh? Daggerfall is legally free.

it's really hard to go back to when it's stuck in a dink resolution that is either too small to read or stretched beyond belief on a high res monitor
also more importantly it runs like complete ass

I actually got a VR headset and skyrim VR recently. And here I am playing fucking daggerfall instead.

For anyone new, the only mod you actually need is enhanced skies. Without it the original skybox spins like crazy with the camera and will make you wanna vomit.

yeah but it makes the sky look boring and generic

I'm a retard, is every month 30 days?

>I think the reason why all the game magazines are hailing it as "The Best Game of the Year" is: A) All of the magazines got their semi-retarded black jewish woman which they hired to be an equal opportunity to review it, or B) Blizzard sent out a crew of complimentary prostitutes to every reviewer in exchange for a thumbs up (silly bastard, I bet half of them would have done it for a free Playboy and a jar of vaseline).

ESO added a lot of overland locations for these areas but it also happened a long time before daggerfall. Adding those could be neat.

Does this game have a no miss mod like Morrowind? This mechanic is dumb even for an RPG.

>find a ruby with seemingly infinite charges of fireball
>can just open up the magic item menu and rapid fire the fuckers at ghost and vampires
is this a bug? is it a feature? I don't think I'll run of charges, must have used it hundreds of times by now

Attached: Screenshot_2.png (508x165, 25K)

The quality of the item should degrade whenever you use it.

I have an amulet with magelight/candle and in the same situation
Its condition is worn now so I assume it can break at some point

oh fuck you're right. I hope I can repair this

It's a fucking ruby how are you going to fix it and you can't repair magic items by default so you better change that first

Doing a boomer tavern completely in duke and doom rips with strippers inside mite b cool.

Attached: the_floss.webm (480x270, 1.67M)

Magic items are not repairable in the game normally, but DF Unity has an option to let you repair them which is kind of unbalanced in my opinion.

Anyone?

did you remove a mod?

The DREAM sound mod, enabling it again fixed it... Thats really odd imo. But thanks!

i'm supposed to talk to the major families in the main quest, but no one in daggerfall says anything interesting, and when i try to travel to wayrest, there's no such a place

Wayrest is another province to the far east. Its not in Daggerfall.

desu the loops they have in some levels are a design no-no.

Your dungeon might have portals

I switched it on. They take about 30 minutes to an hour for me to do quests in. I have not encountered any issues after doing about 5 quests with it on.

Fuck, I need to go back and save that kid lmao

jazz_music_stops.png

man, bethesda were lazy shits even back then
dungeons have all the same fucking rooms...

Don´t worry. You are going to find better and stronger items before that ruby break.

Runs like shit and it's basically Wolfenstein 3D with a fantasy theme painted onto it.

Really excited for the modding potential of this. What are some mods that you’d like to see made? Hoping someone adds in the planned prostitute faction personally.

>queen aubk-i says she has a task for me but doesn't trust me and have to prove myself to her court to give me the main quest
>everyone in her court fucking hates me for being a knight apparently and don't even respond to me
>interacting with aubk-i does nothing
worried if my playthough is fucked

>>turns out the thing was only reachable via the "skull" teleports right at the very entrance
Can you explain this?
I got sent to get a sapphire for a quest, i explored every single room there and found nothing
I just gave up after hours searching

right as I walked into the dungeon there were these four totems with fire and skulls near em so I didn't think nothing of em just scenery, turns out they actually teleported you into a whole other area of the dungeon

>>giant is seemingly stuck behind banners that move slightly when clicked.
I got the exact same situation with a wereboar quest target in that bloody room stuck behind the banners. I was eventually able to kill it with my dagger after much fucking around and quickloading. Absolutley ridiculous. Wish there was a noclip command to get around fuckups like this.

Jesus that code looks like a fucking nightmare.

did you have to do anything?
i do remember a room kind of like that, but it didn't react to me in any way

>censoring your appearance

Yep just make sure you left or right click on each of em,one of em should move you around after blinking

what mod are you using for walls and floor?

Nice. An entire poisoned dungeon.

so I have to buy morrowind to continue the main quest? what the fuck bethesda

pure comfiness user

So what's up with all the naked chicks, especially in the Temples of Dibella?

People like naked girls.

Daggerfall really has a lot more in common with Diablo than it does with the latter Elder Scrolls games

I understand why this sort of thing may not appeal to people who want a game with less of a combat/ old-school dungeon diving focus, but in that respect Daggerfall is a excellent game and achives its aims really well, plus unlike Diablo it has the roleplaying elements like the deep custom character generation and a cozy overworld to fuck around it, or just buy properties and relax

For me, the enemy variety, and the amount of thought/planning needed before going on an expedition always makes the game exciting.

Sometimes you might get caught in a hopeless situation, and you've got to be able to deal with that
Modern gamers aren't used to no-win scenarios where your only option is to start over

Game was made by incels

Dibella is a sex goddess.

You might need to be a higher level

How do you level mysticism?

Yes. IIRC level 7 is good to continue the whole story. Find a dungeon with a nice tall pillar and grind yer skills a bit.

This.

Basically never use any of the premade classes and always pick 3x int magicka modifier if you're planning to use magic.

these are perfect. still need some good npcs.

im level 7 i loaded an earlier save and got things to work now so its all ok

How do I install these? Just drag and drop?

>M&M
>Daggerfall
>same
Yeah no. Not even close. I don't want to play a party of people.

That's just the dungeon generator for daggerfall. Afaik it's very likely that not all of those rooms are in use. They can have teleporters linked to them but it's not like they 100% will. I guess there might still be bugs where the quest objective spawns in one of them without it actually being accessible idk.

sounds like the real world

daggerfall data/streaming assets replace the texture file with that texture file. back up your original if there is stuff in it.

>20 years of development
>isn't even that good
yeah okay

Yeah its intended, its just an artifact of the dungeon generation process.

NPC sprites are different from the character paperdoll you get. And well they aren't exactly posed to be used in the world either.

But there is an Unity port of Ultima Underworld. The first game is fully supported.
github.com/hankmorgan/UnderworldExporter

cool

Yeah I used debug to tp around them, quest npc never spawned in the dungeon so it was the quest that was bugged.

it was the 80s m8

Thanks, user.

Those are emails you mongoloids

Cast mysticism spells
You dont even need to target anything
Make a 1-1/1 open spell and cast it over and over in your tavern room

3d character, npc and enemy models. I need it.

It's from a newsgroup zoomzoom.

More wilderness encounters
Possibly Monster quests if your language skill is high enough

Did you install the unofficial fixes in the DaggerfallSetup? Those fix a bunch of quests. Though there's probably still broken ones left over.

just use a hammer lmao

Anyone know what this power is?
I picked up a magic long shirt and just put it on

The massive elder scrolls open world format coupled with the the simple more primitive graphics and gameplay and easily accessible engine really does make it seem like there would be a limitless potential for modding. And besides whores, I'm pretty certain daggerfall also has goldmine of extra content and features left on the cutting room floor that could be implemented again.

Vivec first appeared in Redguard when he shows Cyrus the edge of Tamriel

Attached: smoll_nymph.gif (34x83, 7K)

I think a great project would be a massive expansion to the scope of the game in terms of Tamriel. Essentially, the game covers all of Tamriel rather than just the Iliac Bay, but with the same density as the base game just spread across all of Tamriel (so there would be a lot less locations around the Iliac bay). Basically just a good arena. Idk how doable it is, but it's my pipe dream

Does this have VR support since they did it via Unity? I could get down on some Daggerfall in VR.

Magic repair was in vanilla until they nerfed it by removing it with later patches. Bethesda ended up making it a toggle setting in the config later on though, so you can magic repair even in vanilla.

>UUUUUUAAAAAAAAAHHH in VR

>find cloak that gives me +14 AGI and shoes that weigh .5 that allow me to freely cast a paralysis bolt in the second dungeon I explore

Attached: fuck yeah daggerfall.png (1920x1080, 513K)

I've always had this OCD about fully exploring areas in games. I feel incomplete if I haven't explored every nook and cranny in a dungeon because I never know what epic things I might find behind that one unopened door.

This game is my kryptonite.

>Found a book about a Nymph researcher who abandons his research to run off with Nymphs

I hope hes happy.

If you do this in Daggerfall youre going to have a bad time
Just complete your objective and get out, unless youre prepped for a long expedition

What mods do all the cool kids use?

What's the difference between using Horse and Cart as your transport mode?

Absurdly based, please make more shit.

Attached: hi cumming.png (750x746, 541K)

Already asked you dumb fuck

I made it the same size as other npc files. I reposed the arms a bit too. There's something else blocking it from being any bigger.

Apologies for disrupting your thread your majesty

Why make cart an option then?

Archaeology
Birds of Daggerfall
Extra quests
Immersive travel/Desert Bus: the prequel

How do these quest were people ask you to protect their homes between 9pm and midnight work?
I went there but nothing happened

Is anyone else having trouble with ranking up in Order of the hour? I have enough reputation and the correct skills according to uesp but I'm still a novice.

>in daggerfall
>everyone hates me because i'm redguard
>go to sentinel
>everyone still hates me because i'm redguard
>???

Carts can hold a ton of shit for extra inventory

Go inside before 9pm, then loiter. That's the way to get guaranteed enemy spawns.

>low PER incel
Just like real life

b-but the game says i'm considered interesting!

The clock one
The sky one
The distant land one
The bird one
The hills one
The sounds clean up one
The Resampled Midi soundtrack one
Everything else is too sketchy atm or clashes

I mean, why even have cart as a travel option? Its always with you even if you go by foot/horse?

>fucking around town at night
>VENGEANCE

Attached: 37.jpg (169x174, 12K)

I bet all your reputations are in negative too.

just rest outside until it goes away.

Well carts are cheaper than horses, so you might get that first

I'm a Knight of the Dragon with enough reputation and skills for a rank up but I'm still an aspirant.

Wait a month in between promotions

IMMERSION
Now you can roleplay as a poor peasant drover

Tbh ive been thinking about making a peasant character
Any ideas?
Ill buy a farm in a small Northmoor town

I had trouble ranking up in the fighters guild. I just kept training the minor skill and resting and eventually they just promoted me 3 ranks.

I've kinda trailed off of Daggerfall at level 3. It's just not very interesting after the initial fun of going through an actual dungeon again.

All the quests are boring rando-generated Mount and Blade stuff that I'd rather not be doing. The ones that are interesting are all level locked and the worst is just how generated Daggerfall is.

Like every city and home I've been to has been the exact same and all the npcs I can converse with have been wikipedia bots. It's like Morrowind is missing a few bits that were good in DF, but it's just so, so much better even with its flaws.

People went on and on in other ES threads posting DFpills like these gigantic cities were something great. They're just smoke and mirrors that pretty much shatters after your second town.

Playing this for the first time just made me realize how much of a fluke Morrowind was and just how consistent the series is in quality. Even back in DF Bethesda was making soulless worlds filled with missing details.

>Summerset needs the sub
Summerset is base too if you just started

Its a different sort of game from morrowind
Think of it as closer to diablo, problem solving, fighting, building up your character, and dungeon diving are the main appeal.

Morrowind is great but still suffers from the same feeing of being in this static world where nothing really matters
Skyrim does well at getting some immersion but is too reliant on scripted events which makes multiple playthroughs less enjoyable

Oblivion is a nice middle ground with some big dungeons but little reward for doing anything due to scaled loot

Is it wrong that i liked oblivion and theres something about these gphx that hook me and i just want to play the game but i do not like morrowind.

I only wish that models were 3d atleast my char.

I love the enemy animations the fighting.

I wish this game was mixed with oblivion it would be perfecf

The Tedious Travel mod is pretty cool with the landscape mods, but I wish I could choose to use the vanilla system if I wanted to go from Daggerfall to Wayrest or something.

Every expensive disadvantage, aids only to get the difficulty dagger to low red.

I just disabled and uninstalled it.
Its not really worth it rightnow, plus you can sometimes get stuck on stuff and vanilla is barely 2 seconds load time

You're treating this as if it's a game made in post 2000.

Yeah, the landscapes look really great with the mods and it's awesome seeing towns off in the distance but I don't wanna wait 20 minutes to travel to a dungeon. Maybe there'll be some changes that make it worth it in the future.

There were plenty of games made before 2000 with npcs that weren't wikipedia articles and towns that had unique characteristics. The game has its flaws whether we like it or not.

And? I can still have fun with Doom 1 now.

Daggerfall gets boring and made me realize just how much people were memeing when they were making images to spam the idea that TES devolved as a series, it's always been these shallow pools with extreme flaws.

>comparing Daggerfall and Morrowind's NPCs
>stating that DF's NPCs are walking wikipedia articles as if Morrowind's aren't
the truthpill is that all of the games suck and are either generic fantasy or ripped off hindu mythology for "wow so unique" writing

It seems like there's mods for everything except for the NPC sprites. Hopefully we get mods to fix that soon.

Morrowind is a distinct improvement in the quantity of interesting npcs department. That's still not the game's strong suit though. How many npcs can anyone remember from morrowind?

Same. I could only complete Morrowind by using the Morroblivion mod for Oblivion. Plus side was al the sex and lewd mods - I even remember starting to make DRMA and DRMA pregnant versions of all the armor and clothing from Morrowind. A lot of the armor/clothing were too low poly though, the breasts or belly area would almost always get fucked up with a weird shape.

Daggerfalls NPCs are the exact opposite of wikipedia articles
You can ASK about whatever information you desire, but it doesn't mean they will give you a good answer
Idk, the thing I like about Elder Scrolls is that they try something new with every entry in the series to keep it fresh, its always different and each game has its own value

Ive played every mainline game including Arena and enjoyed them

Attached: 3665E56D-3342-4CFD-B1B8-17C92B26C103.png (2560x1440, 4M)

DREAMS does
But that entire modpack looks like blended melted wax

Barely any
Oblivion probably had the most memorable NPCs
For a series of games that everyone Yea Forums “hates” they sure get talked about near constantly

Attached: DB469F6A-1EFF-44DF-8DF3-17CF0222BB49.gif (49x112, 15K)

I find daggerfall interesting from the perspective of a classic RPG. The functionally random content mixed with the giant skill list means that no matter what I do or how I build my character I will feel every single choice I make. Whether I choose to get levitate or not, whether I forbid armors or not etc. Is the individual actions you do throughout the game super interesting? Not really, but the feeling of building yourself up is.

Attached: 1559870601895.png (1280x799, 1.12M)

Yes and there's also not hundreds of them, with hundreds of towns and dungeons

I guess people just hate that elder scrolls games aren't able to be convincing substitutes for tabletop gaming. The games don't try to tell you a story, they try to create a world where you can make your own story. Without a DM giving life to the world, though, it has yet to really work.

Is it possible to add more frames to the ingame animations, or are the number of frames in the animation tied to the game's FPS or something?

Cant tell based on the icon. You gotta identify it.

>For a series of games that everyone Yea Forums “hates” they sure get talked about near constantly

I find myself hating on TES games a lot because I see a lot of potential in what they could be and they pretty much never achieve it. I talk about it because I WANT to love it.

Attached: index.jpg (266x190, 12K)

With Unity there is no reason a modder can’t “smooth” out the animation just like SmoothDoom
Id prefer better smoother sprites over 3D models personally

Attached: 7A8CFD89-0A26-4CD3-9C58-CF80123A0CC8.gif (120x51, 19K)

Someone was testing VR but it would definitely need some work. Not as simple as plug and play even with Unity. Someone is probably going to make a mod for it.

I'd prefer models but not this """"HD"""" shit. I'd honestly prefer if they went with less detailed models.

Attached: 1564765903205.jpg (512x512, 101K)

Yea Daggerfall really hits that old AD&D feel of getting shit on hard in some bullshit dungeon and growing stronger as a result

Is this multiplayer?

The reason they give you for hating you doesn't actually matter.

So how do dungeon prefabs work? Using Daggerfall Modeling, I'm seeing small sections of hallway but also complete dungeon architecture too.

>Immersive travel/Desert Bus: the prequel
Say what? I've only heard of tedious travel. Theres no mention of this mod anywhere in the forums.

Do you have any idea how sprite animations work?
You need to have something to make those sprites out of. Daggerfall's enemies were pre-rendered from 3d models but we obviously do not have access to the original 3d models.

They are all pre-built sections, then they are randomly arranged with connecting portions in-between to facilitate movement around the dungeon as well as areas to teleport if that specific dungeon has teleport traps.

I find Daggerfall to be really similar to games like Angband, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, ADOM and others of that type.

I say desert bus because watching your horse ride across the desert for an hour is about as interesting as that game
