One of my favorite RPG's of all time, but objectively it's far from being perfect. Jedi Sentinel is all but useless, the Feat system is shallow, they cut the Pazaak tournament, and the game is too easy even on the hardest difficulty.

Barebones story with barebones plot interaction. The races aren't particularly creative and the setting, despite the background of it all, is essentially generic.
Difficulty consists of making enemies damage sponges and the movement during turns is a proto-implementation of what KOTOR achieved.
The combat spells all essentially do the same things once you outline the ~7 main types of them, but the list is bloated by all the minor upgrade you get through leveling up.
The game is not particularly more strategic than KOTOR either; you can do the same unga facerolling with 5 or 4 Fighters and one spellcaster and skillsman as you can in KOTOR.
The equipment system is about the same as KOTOR's in quality, except you have no possibility of customization outside the omnigun.

It's a decent game. Better than KOTOR? Nope. Maybe equal.

Why, yes, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic does indeed qualify as one of the top ten best video games in the world. It's easy to come to such conclusion based on facts and throwing a few glances at such a well crafted masterpiece. The main character is a well-written and intriguing, the dialogue options are superb. The companions are all unique and offer great indepth look at the world of Star Wars. The villain, sure, is a bit cartoonish but that is also the appeal of such a great game, it does not try too hard yet it does everything perfectly. The romance options are fairly realistic and decent subplots. Gameplay is simplistic and easy to master yet offers enough depth to enjoy multiple playthroughs. Music and sounds are simply delicate, truly allowing you to immerse yourself in every situation and every planet. The visuals are most impressive and aesthetically pleasing. So yes, SW:KotOR is considered a top ten game, if you disagree you're a fucking retard jew.

The original Nier was an excellent game with a great narrative and sound track, although the combat is unbalanced and dated.

After I recently replayed both games, I realised that KotOR1 is actually very basic and shallow, while modded KotOR2 is fantastic.

Not that guy but IWD is based. It's linear but it's still a very tight, well paced game. I couldn't get into planescape. I don't like RPGs where the story is about some other player's character. It's the kind of game I'd rather watch someone play than play it myself
