Why did it fail?

It didnt really, but you could say that it carried over all the same issues as Fallout 3 except without any of the neat DLC to make it enduring. nuka world was shit and i cant even remember the others

It didn't fail enough

It was the first BGS game to release to mixed response from fans. Hell it even sits at a 71% on steam. For a AAA Bethesda game that’s pathetic

It wasn't an RPG.

Did it fail? Everyone and there mother has played Fallout 4, atleast tried it

>tfw own it but haven’t played it yet
I hope Fallout 5 looks better though. Does FO76 look any different from FO4?

Pretty much everything has an autumn-orangey tint. ALOT of vegetation to, aside from 4's drought looking wasteland

>Does FO76 look any different from FO4?
Yeah. Instead of shit it's shit in a public restroom.

>Why did it fail?

Uh, sure, I can list what I thought was wrong with it:
-The voiced lines ruined any opportunity to actively roleplay. When they gave the PC a voice actor and superseded a character background (no matter how brief) they effectively removed 90% of a players ability to customize and create their own character, background, origin, etc.. So no roleplaying for you. You're either Wife or Husband.

-The factions, stories, and writing were extremely shallow and rigid: factions didn't possess meaningful interactions with the player or even with one another and you never gained any equity as a player. The quests, especially, we're extremely disrespectful as they were completely stagnant and didn't change as you developed the world: no one ever respects you, you can micromanage anything, and you constantly have to 'prove' yourself to people who're leagues beneath you.
When I was playing I was constantly frustrated that not a single fucking person acknowledged my authority as leader of the minutemen. There was not a single point in time where I could negotiate or have a meaningful conversation with any of the faction leaders about this and what we could do for one another.

-The base building is extremely clunky and a lot of fantasy features are hidden behind add-ons. The controls were a bitch to learn, resources are expensive and I'm constantly running out of things, the game also doesn't really explain anything and I have to constantly look things up- placing objects and so forth is also extremely fucking annoying and finicky. My walls CONSTANTLY have small gaps. For as important as it is to the game it certainly feels like an afterthought- which is a shame because the people who've 'mastered' it seem to be having a lot of fun.

-The Perk system is also kind of shit. I say this in the sense that there are certain perks that deprive you access to certain features and game mechanics: weapon customizations, buildings, trade routes, etc.

imagine having such an empty life that you actually take the time to write something like this about a videogame that nobody even played

I thought it was a pretty fun read.

i've never played Fallout 3, 4, or 76.

>this butthurt over the truth

Go back to ruining Elder Scrolls, Todd.

I always max out luck and they made it useless so I shot the games reputation and got a crit

karma

Combined with agility luck is the most important stat for a VATS build.

I don't use vats its worthless I like in new vegas where you could go around shotgunning everyone and they'd turn in to paste

>wake up
>exam day
>open up phone
>see "Fallout 4 1st Gameplay trailer"
>get super hyped to the point where I didn't even feel the usual stress after an exam
>but deep down everything feels... off...
>game comes out
>borderlands rip-off with shitter combat
>can't even bring myself to finish it

Hurt more than my worst break-up if I'm honest, from that point on I never get hyped for any game

I'd argue Charisma is the most important stat in FO4 since you can skip massive portions of the game by simply "talking good" to people. I've been through the entire game and they removed all the science dialogues, strength dialogues, medical dialogues, etc.. Charisma is the only stat that matters when convincing anyone of anything.
It's blatantly fucking retarded.
The dialogue in this game is a fucking joke.

They stripped out the RPG in favor of linear storytelling and survival shit that should stay in rust.

Not really defending 4 or saying that you're wrong but ain't that a common thing in all Fallout games tho? I feel like I skipped some in 3 and NV simply by having high charisma, my memory could be failling me tho

Yeah the trailer was released on my birthday... I remember thinking it was such a great birthday present

>Explain why a game is bad
>Ok
>HAHAHAHA, LOOK AT THIS FAGGOT, GET A LIFE LOOSER!

Hi, Todd.

instant gratification in the first hour. get power armor, fight a deathclaw and win, those 2 things were very powerful in previous games and took time before you could accomplish

>Bought the game for me and a friend
>Didn't finish the game and the friend didn't even touch it after I mentioned my exprience.

I should have never finished Fallout NV so soon, it was that playthrough that got my expetations in a new fallout game too high.

I hated this as well.
It threw off the entire pacing of the game to just be given so much, so immediately, by effectively doing nothing to achieve it. This game gives out Power Armor way too willy nilly and I just never use it.

Actual discussion on Yea Forums is welcome regardless of board. Tell them thanks

to be fair the Power Armor is a complete burden unless you put effort into amassing some power cores right away and even then you'll burn out fast. But it's not like it matters when they're littred all over the Commonwealth like Evas after the Third Impact.

>Shit RP
>Shit weapons
>Shit customization
>Shit factions
>Shit endings
>Shit perks
>Shit dialogue
>Shit story
>Shit quests
>Shit DLC

If you still expected something good from Bethesda after Fallout 3 and Skyrim you only have yourself to blame.

Didn't play Skyrim, and for some reason I liked 3 (to be fair I was 16 when I played it) but I loved NV and went back to play 1 and 2, I mostly hoped Bethesda saw what worked with NV and just try go from there. Clearly that was a mistake.

I bought the game with money I didn't even had. I waited till the release way past midnight and even when I had college the next day I stayed up late to play it.

And I remember just playing and think "I'm not having fun yet ... It's been 8 hours and I'm still not having fun ... Should I worry?"
