Is anything more disappointing than Dovi riding like a timid underdog on the fastest bike on the grid?

Dover race thread, let's see if it survives the night

Hello motorsport. There is nothing on TV and on a deep cable channel there is a DTM series race on TV. I know its Touring Cars but how high level is this race? These cars are on TV so rarely here i have no idea how high tier this series is.
Isaiah Stewart
That's Germany's top-tier touring car series. Good drivers, good racing.
Juan Martinez
Good drivers, decent racing, shit series
Watch it
Adam Bailey
>no onboard Chile user pls
Camden Perez
It's ShindyCar with fenders but German.
Leo Murphy
I had an idea while i was driving. This might be stupid, impossible or amazing. What if we could combine motorsports with a music festival atmosphere? Heres how it would work:
>NASCAR, F1 schedule the same track on one weekend in the summertime (COTA, Watkins Glenn with upgrades) >NASCAR races on Saturday >F1 races on Sunday >Qualifying and practice is scheduled around each other >After the sessions are over, other small races take place like amateur stuff, drag racing, moto racing, etc > music festival in the center of the track >Tickets can be bought for individual events or at a package rate for the entire weekend.
Im ready to get the max amount of hate but hey, itd get millennials and zoomers interested. >inb4 “have you been playing forza horizon 4?” Yes.
It may be illogical, and impossible, but hey, its a cool idea
Chase Thomas
Now matter how much sense it would make, nascar would never willingly play second fiddle to F1
Jack Scott
Have you ever actually been to a major race in your life or what
Jack White
Yes.
Chase Torres
other than f1 and nascar sharing the bill how is this different than what most places already do on a race weekend?
Nathaniel Gomez
Just a cool idea, i know its impossible and itll get a lot of flack from the britts when they wake up, but just a cool thought
Lincoln Ross
there was no onboard (at least for free) when i checked
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised when they make sure the NSF100 he rides is in full Repsol paint scheme but man MotoGP branding is next level. Even in NASCAR they wouldn't go through the effort of putting the #3 on any car Earnhardt drove ever.
that's why i love to see test liveries, even if it's just carbon with the number on this thing is so awful it's brilliant youtube.com/watch?v=rZvWuVScnME
Spain has been historically shit at car racing for some reason (maybe the lack of Spanish auto manufacturers in racing or just being poor I don't know) so all their racing interest that inevitably exists for such a warm country goes into motorcycles, which led to Spanish companies holding most of the commercial rights which results in pushing Spanish riders even more. Italy is just Rossi effect honestly, they weren't any more common than bongs, Japanesus, and cunts until recently. They still aren't even a lot more in MotoGP, they're just more common in the MotoGP ladder while other nationalities stay in their national development series more.
Chase Evans
Oh right also they're manlets which gives them an advantage in small displacement classes. Which is part of why American, Australian, and British GP riders tend to come from production racing anyways.
William Flores
to compliment , the spanish domination really only started in the 800 era, before that like says they really just dominated the lower classes since the national market specialiced in small displacement bikes, the brits left when they started using different bikes to the ones in the world championship, and the americans pretty much after the 500cc era was over
Owen Hill
>so many MotoGP racers southern euros? Better weather south of the Alps. South Euro's are poorer and bikes are cheaper to own, so they start off young on scooters and move up to road bikes. Cars are better suited to the north.
Kayden Carter
There was 3 full time Americans in MotoGP as recently as 2013, they just dried up once DMG ran American road racing into oblivion.
Blake Ward
>getting burned alive or fucked up in some little girls kittykat and puppy dog fire suit scarring that bitch for life Nope.
>A prominent guest driver at Audi Sport in the DTM: For one weekend, Italian motorcycle star Andrea Dovizioso (33 years old) is going to switch from his Ducati Desmosedici GP into the cockpit of an Audi RS 5 DTM. The MotoGP 2017 and 2018 runner-up will contest the two DTM races at Misano (Italy) on June 8 and 9.
Another weekend, another packed Saturday on fanschoice.tv. It's looking like modifieds will be rained out. Again.
Friday >Whelen Modified Tour at Stafford, 6 ET
Saturday >Euro series Elite 1 at Franciacorta, 7:15 am ET >Euro series Elite 2 at Franciacorta, 10:45 am ET >Myrtle Beach, 4 ET >Berlin, 6:30 ET >Langley, 7 ET >Magic Valley, 8 ET >Meridian, 8:45 ET >Tuscon, 9:30 ET >K&N Pro at Tuscon, 10 ET >Alaska, 10 ET
Sunday >Euro series Elite 2 at Franciacorta, 4:45 am ET >Euro series Elite 1 at Franciacorta, 8:15 am ET
Dominic Ortiz
Also apparently modifieds at Stafford will be blocked in CT, RI, and MA Just fuck my shit up
the engine was probably still running because his left hand was on the clutch, its easier to wait for the marshals to pick up the bike than switch off the engine and having to push the bike up the pits, also he was looking down and downshifting before he fell, he likely didn't want to release the clutch and cause damage to the gearbox
btw the shitshow already started, loeb crashed with a truck this morning, they just went on a road and started practicing, there was another road near there that was closed for them to practice
>recee that's the word i was looking for >Aren't the roads supposed to closed? as far as i know it's not mandatory, australia doesn't do it, and that section is going to be a transport stage, anyway everyone is fine and there will be no legal actions neither from hyunday or the truck so hopefully this will be the only off track anectode
Matthew Myers
>transport stage Makes sense. I wonder how they managed to crash though, blind corner maybe?
didn't dorna signed a deal to have a rio gp in 2021? remember nicky hayden said they used to love going to brazil for the girls
Christian Hernandez
Rio Mayor was in talkings with Liberty Media since last year, early this year he confirmed the talks again and now it seems that the project was indeed true
also there is talks to bring MotoGP and Indycar to Rio
Michael Bell
Could be worse i guess. I hope Interlagos stays relevant though, it would be a shame to see it fade because of a new kid on the block with fat pockets.
Interlagos is in a scary neighborhood in Sao Paolo though, with several team members and even drivers getting mugged and car jacked over the years when going to the circuit from their hotels. I'll bet that the Rio deal happened because the organizer in charge promised Liberty and the teams armed escorts like what they do in Mexico City for that GP.
I could see Indycar go to this new Rio track too if they could get a similar deal.
Colton Young
the new track in Rio will get onto an scary neighborhood too
Michael Hernandez
Hmm... If that's the case, then this is probably just a classic "We'll get you the money to build the track after we get a cut of something" deal like what happened in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Turkey & Korea IMO.
I think the layout would make for OK Moto GP racing though.
Henry Cox
>I think the layout would make for OK Moto GP racing though. reminds me of sachsenring, must be the elevation changes
Samuel Torres
it will have elevation changes indeed
actually its more pressure from the RIo Mayor to get the race there there is an similar pressure to SP get Formula E but for some reasont dont worked yet
Justin Edwards
Ah, I see.
Brody Gutierrez
Where is there a place to build a track that WOULDN'T have a bunch of criminals waiting to mug tourists, though? Does such a place even exist down there?
Indy is nigger central up here now, but you're not going to get fucked with at most any track we have up here, regardless of who you are.
It would still be relevant tough, at least for us, internationally, idk I think they will race in a street track passing trough the sambodramo, well this was what the mayor of rio said
Tyler Howard
montana
Ethan Young
>Deodoro >Ever happening K E K E K
That's just FOM-speak for "Pay the hosting fee or else..."
Brody Perry
From experience, there are several drug dealers and gangsters operating in Helena, MT. None of them big enough to fuck with the local economy or police force like in Central & South America though.
Adrian Richardson
wait a fucking minute why theres an argentinian flag this card?
Wyatt Morgan
I was too distracted by the llama scratching its butt with it's tail that I didn't even notice it, chilenon. They must've just left it from the last card.
Leo Robinson
>llama that's a guanaco, and makes sense since there are a bunch of them in the area of the argentinian rally
Liam King
the track seems tthat will start in few months and has all aprovals
Turn left Dale...and it gets you in the door!!! From here it is a long, steep climb all the way down the road. Get off (if you're doing this without a guide you may have to get on the pavement for that) and take the right side trail up to the trailhead you've just come from. When you get to the foot of the mountain you'll find a signboard saying your trail is no longer accessible, get off! Follow the signs down the side of the hill, and up for about 100 feet.
A bit of traffic on the way up is all you need. Take some pictures and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
dailysportscar.com/2019/05/09/lmp2-oversubscribed-for-2019-20-fia-wec.html >The LMP2 entry for the 2019/2020 FIA WEC looks set to move into double figures with a number of programmes close to confirmation ahead of the announcement of the full-season entry list. >That number is understood to have been ‘capped’ with at least two potential entrants advised that an entry request would not be successful.
of they wanted "an accomplished sportswoman" why not pick Michelle Mouton instead?
Cameron Walker
>Michelle Mouton There you go. A driver that actually raced and won some shit before people started to try to guilt people into taking incompetent bitches.
speedcafe.com/2019/05/09/supercars-targetting-at-least-two-night-events-for-2020/ >Supercars is targeting at least two night events for its 2020 calendar with a return of the Pirtek Perth SuperNight on its wish list. >A decision to bring night racing to Perth’s Barbagallo Wanneroo Raceway for this season followed the success of the inaugural SuperNight at Sydney Motorsport Park which dropped off the 2019 schedule. >It will, however, return in 2020 following a deal with New South Wales Government which has confirmed a $33 million investment in installing permanent lighting at the Western Sydney venue. >Drivers and teams have already led calls for more night races to be added to future Supercars schedules with Winton and Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway tipped as possible venues.
Man so do i, their liveries looked so fucking good. With all the throwback liveries lately i would love to see someone do a Pescarolo one. I'll take this one though, hope Cetilar keep it for the WEC.
How do the stewards ensure that Neuville doesn't get fucked by this red flag?
Daniel Bailey
>Stage cancelled because of spectators Fucking morons. Since no one started the times should stay the same after SS1. If someone had already completed the stage they would get the same time.
Landon Wood
I just googled nascar porn.
Daniel Lee
Since they restarted the stage he will get the same time as someone else, either Ogier or mid pack most likely.
motorsport.com/wrc/news/bizarre-motorbike-incident-policeman-hospital/4385239/?nrt=193 >A policeman was hospitalized overnight following a bizarre motorbike incident during Thursday’s shakedown test for the World Rally Championship’s inaugural Rally Chile. >The organisers of the Concepcion-based event have explained the incident to Motorsport.com, stating the police officer responded to what he thought was an accident for a competitor – Pedro Heller, driving an M-Sport-prepared Ford Fiesta R5 – further down the stage. >While the stage was live and competitors were still coming at rally speed, the policeman rode his bike on to the stage and travelled in the same direction as the cars. A Skoda Fabia R5 passed the bike on a straight stretch of road. Distracted, the policeman crashed and injured his leg. >A spokesman from the event told Motorsport.com: “The policeman was acting alone. It was a mistake of the policeman. He has damaged some ligaments in his leg. He is OK, but he stayed in hospital last night.
not a surprise, soccer morons were causing troubles yesterday too, i knew there were going to be problem when i saw the thing was for free, the first barrier to avoid idiots in these events is a ticket price, god i hate soccer morons so much
1hr until the race At least it's not Bautista on pole. Maybe we will get a good race.

The Whelen Modified Tour Spring Sizzler at Stafford is finally happening today fanschoice.tv says the stream starts at 1:30 ET, but modifieds are racing at 4:45 ET
I just realized that they took out the entire first sector of the track because formula E cars can't go up the hill. For fuck's sake.
Josiah Ortiz
they can, but the race would last 5 laps before they ran out of energy
Sebastian Price
About 3.5 hours. Race starts at 1500EST.
Benjamin Evans
i find it so fascinating and hilarious, its such a shitshow, bad driving, shit tracks, the championship leader finishing 50% of races out of the points and still being #1
Fyi I wont be able to make the /indy/ thread today so someone will have to take up the mantle
