okay
Jokes on you fagboi, you can buy vinyl LPs at Walmart now. They're cheaper than cds.
Complete with Crosley knock off turntables, beautiful.
Anyway, OP is a fag as usual.
Yeah because shitty supermarkets second your shitty thirst for shitty trends.
OP in a nutshell
idk theres something nice about vinyl. It forces me to sit down and really pay attention to the music. It makes listening to an album a tangible experience rather than just sounds coming out of my phone. Maybe I'm retarded but this is how I feel. Listening to Birds of Fire on vinyl for the first time felt like a new experience.
>trend
>popular for the greater portion of a century
what did he mean by this
2/10 bait
You 100% made this thread after seeing that other one about Abbey Road or something where people also talked about vinyls.
So once again:
how insecure does one have to be to go out of their way just so they could mock someone's hobby which, by the way, lets people support their favorite artists?
Op probably collects porcelain dolls or something and is always super defensive about it irl.
feel genuinely bad for you :-/
sage
Based walmart
vinyls are definitely a trend of the 2010s
not for those of us who have been carrying them around since the 80s
>all this seething
lol op clearly struck a nerve
Vinyl nevhe 90s.er went completely out of fashion. Original Blue Notes and rare prog still sold for thousands of dollars in t
do Discogs orders ever go smoothly? just started getting into collecting, and have only bought from 100 rated sellers, but each time there's been some sort of hitch (e.g., dude waits 19 days after payment to ship, another time the dude can't find the records). is eBay any better?
>cheaper than cds.
where are CDs being sold for $20+?
So very few people? You confirmed my point
i have bought a bunch of stuff from discogs and have only had one issue, and that was a seriously over graded album that they refunded me on.
there are alot of the same sellers on discogs and ebay, so no i dont think one is better than the other
whatever you need to think
Discogs is better all around. Just stick to highly rated sellers.
I've ordered hundreds of records/CDs/tapes, never had a bad experience apart from the odd case of something getting lost by the post office.
no, I have collectors autism and it gives me dopamine to buy vinyl
i've read that vinyl can objectively sound better than CD, as in more detailed with better dynamic range, but i honestly have a hard time believing that
then you have to go into a walmart
it's a fucking freak show in there
>It forces me to sit down and really pay attention to the music
How the fuck does it force you? It doesn't do shit. Your abhorrent vanity is what forces you to sit down and have a mental wank over how totally sophisticated and dedicated to your "hobby" (consumerism) you are.
tard
>hurr stop criticising my character faults
You're not immune to being called out for being the faggot that you are. Sperg more, child.
fake joke
must suck being a poorfag. nothing but mad at everyone who can afford a hobby
make a gofundme and fuck off
the webm or vinyl being the more accurate media for musical recordings?
both
can you substantiate this?
why else would be someone be taking a video at that time and place?
i mean for the vinyl claim
>mfw selling vinyl at extorsive prices to nerds on Discogs
Based vinyl trend.
like what?
>extorsive
wut?
youd probably need to drop (at least) a few grand on equipment and have the best stylus in the world on a freshly cleaned vinyl
Technically it doesn’t force me. I could sit down and listen to an album from my phone but I’ll always end up doing something on my phone or think of something when I’m listening and look it up. So technically it doesn’t force me but it creates a situation which is more conducive to undistracted appreciation of the music I’m listening to.
Wow I've never read this before. If you don't have the attention to listen to something no matter the format you're gay
well because cds will always have a lowest sound bit. physical grooves go down to a molecular level. not noticable by ear. and its way easier to have dust and random noise and vinyl wears out etc. but hypothetically on . a great system thats perfectly clean on an unplayed clean record you would get clear sound
>They're cheaper than cds.
lol no
cds aren't much cheaper, and vinyl has more value
>aren't much cheaper
half the price
cds are 3 dollars at thrift, records are 2
>muh crate digging
>muh poverty
cant even afford the thrift store poorfag?
make a gofundme and fuck off
>I need to be burdened by antiquated technology to be able to listen to the music I like otherwise a shiny object steals my attention almost instantly
Holy shit I knew Yea Forums was bad but not this bad
went on holidays recently to thailand. had car hire for 2 weeks. hertz rental truck included cd player. decided to take some fav albums on cd. they packed into luggage easy.
could i have done this with my vinyl? no fucking way.
inb4 fags say hurdur plug yer phone in car stereo. well yes but i took albums of content unstreamable/not saved on phone.
cds benefits always outway any vinyl. own both extensive music collections & also not a poorfag
Indeed. All of you asshats bought into the vinyl fad and it doesn't even sound better.
>I need to be burdened by antiquated technology
i own a 1965 mustang. its vintage muscle car, nice, chromey & shiny & cool to look at, i'll drive about maybe some weekends. Do i drive it all the time? no fucking way. it drives like a 1965 antiquated piece of shit car. I'll drive my modern car any day thanks.
i do most of my listening on my computer (either streaming or 320 kbs mp3) but i still love vinyl from the collectors' and "support the artists" (if you buy direct from the band/label) standpoint. it's nice to have those big, tangible album art, inserts, and LPs. and the required and frequent interactivity with the equipment is a hit at parties/hangouts, let alone the ritual of it
anyways, i guess i'm saying why not both? vinyl has its place in present-day music listening
I am not saying that you can't own vinyl, I am saying that it is just stupid . You can do stupid stuff if you want. Hoarding is a disease.
I buy vinyl for the collectors aspect. They look gorgeous, usually come with badass foldouts of album or band artwork, and the money goes back to the artist if you buy them at shows.
Ignore the faggot contrarian haters ITT. I get what you're saying.
>badass foldouts
you're as bad as the user who gets easily distracted when listening to albums
I have two monitors that I rent to venues and I hook up a record player to it. I have a shit ton of cheap vinyl from thrift stores and a few select more expensive ones from my favorite musicians.
The audio fidelity is amazing. The old jazz, blues, rock, folk, funk, and country albums sound amazing. Stereo sound in the monitors is perfect. I don't know why anyone would not want a set up like this. I'll have friends over, pop albums on, drink and smoke / eat a nice meal and it's heaven.

>The dynamic range of vinyl, when evaluated as the ratio of a peak sinusoidal amplitude to the peak noise density at that sine wave frequency, is somewhere around 80 dB. Under theoretically ideal conditions, this could perhaps improve to 120 dB. The dynamic range of CDs, when evaluated on a frequency-dependent basis and performed with proper dithering and oversampling, is somewhere around 150 dB. Under no legitimate circumstances will the dynamic range of vinyl ever exceed the dynamic range of CD, under any frequency, given the wide performance gap and the physical limitations of vinyl playback.
lol
I can really only speak to tape, but discography is far superior to eBay on that front. Never had sticky shed from a discogs cassette
They're pretty much the only thing I collect. Nothing particularly inconvenient. I don't own a lot of shit and I like listening to music.
>vinyl has its place in present-day music listening
>music-listening
>lists no actual pros related to the listening of music, the only real argument for it in the entire post is social signalling
zoinks
Nice does it have a portable record player in it? No I didn’t think so because even back then it was a shitty format
usually new 1 LPs are 20-25, and new CDs are at around 15. still cheaper, but I've found that vinyl retains more value.
>social signalling
so any past time activity is "social signaling," whatever the fuck that is? art, and music in particular, isn't to be enjoyed with other people? gtfo
jesus, forget about "have sex," have friends, you autist.
>user using a New Yorker cartoon calls others pretentious
oof
>forget about "have sex,"
he likely already has
Pretty much
They still take up too much space
>...And Justice For All
>not The Black Album
BASED
somewhat this
but mostly this
TOP KEK FAGGOT BTFO
phones all have dogshit chink DACs so vinyl usually sounds better too
except CDs sound better and don't have bass retention issues while simultaneously taking up a shitload less space
any new pickups vinylfags?
I've bought maybe five things from Discogs, never had a problem
Damn dude you are pathetic lmao
I think there might be another reason cars werent installed with record players
of course
because they're inefficient and unwieldy? Hmm maybe that philosophy should be carried over to everywhere else as well
