What instruments does Yea Forums play?

I learned flute as a child, and changed to clarinette with like 10. Shit was part of my schedule in school, for 7 years.
Lots of classical music and (some) Jazz, just years later I learned to love the instrument when I got into Klezmer. For some reason, we never touched that in school.
In between, I learned bagpipes for over a year, which is very simple, even simpler than flute, 85-90% of it is just the stamina to keep the bag full of air. That career got smashed by me starting to smoke, but I still love the instrument.

why did you start smoking? are you a faggot or something?

Well yeah, kind of. But I also loved punkrock and always had a very strong urge towards self destruction, I think that had something to do with it. I recently stopped though.

My main instrument is guitar. I'd say I'm pretty good, been playing for like 8 years, since I was about 17. I've played in quite a few bands. A few punk bands, a post-punk band, a folk punk band for a brief time, a technical death metal band also for a brief time. Mainly punk, as you can see. I can also play bass (obviously) and piano to a decent extent. Learning the mandolin at the moment.

My instruments chronologically arranged since age ~12
>drums (rarely play)
>guitar/banjo (quit both)
>violin (play occasionally)
>piano (play everyday)

I play guitar and upright bass mostly. Been fucking around with the mandolin, tenor guitar, lap harp and trumpet but I'm not that good.

I remember some people playing violin back in school. There were two who really loved it, I know that one of them practiced every day for hours. Their play was really good and enjoyable. Then there were the few that just chose violin for whatever reason out of the classical instruments that we could choose from to play. Their play was fucking agony. I always thought it was fascinating how an instrument can sound so nice when played well, but sound like hell if you don't absolutely try to master it.
Piano is nice though, also the choice of like 90% of people at my school, if not more. Everyone likes piano, and you can find them in many places.

Yeah, violins are hard because they're intonation instruments and if you aren't fully committed it will probably sound like ass. Pianos are definitely friendlier for beginners and casuals, but they also sound the best if you can master them in my opinion.

lol that one Yea Forums janny cunt who cant play drums and rages about it making three threads about drumeo

dilate, namefag

bump. this is all? i thought there were more actual musicians on here

>actual musicians
>on Yea Forums
I think it's fairly obvious from the discourse on this site that it's infested with either underage kids or people who don't play any instruments.

In order of preference
>Drums
>Hamboning
>Bass
>Piano
>Guitar
>Singing
>Harmonica
>Most other lesser instruments, ukulele, accordion, melodica, you name it.

Learned the basics of piano just so I can write songs. can't actually play it and probably have a million bad habits but since my goal wasn't to learn how to play in the first place I'm ok with that. Learned a few chords on guitar too but it's not my thing, it just felt cathartic to play in the aeroplane over the sea

I try to practice piano everyday and have a bass guitar hanging around that I haven't touched in months. I got bored playing tabs and not understanding what I was playing or why so I decided to pick up piano and I think music theory is starting to catch on. I REALLY want to play double bass again but I don't have the money or space for storage.

>lesser instruments
>accordion
what? and why the fuck do you list hamboning and singing?

>accordion
>lesser instrument
Fuck you.

is this bait?

What fucking made you think that? Do you also think Yea Forums is full of filmmakers?

mostly drums but i dabble in bass

Bass is the perfect instrument

that's a small difference though, a shitload of people make music or play an instrument at least. there's not that many filmmakers out there

Guitar and piano. Mostly guitar these days.

>guitar, been playing for 15 years in numerous bands incl one really good post-punk band.
>bass clarinet (first instrument, still own one)
>bassoon (favorite wind instrument)
>oboe (when my school couldn't find a bassoon)
>recently picked up drums, I'm not very good but it's fun
>I play a little flute

piano and classical guitar. Lots of Jazz and classical

I love how to music theory, composition, and improvising fit together. Learning an instrument is mostly just doing autistic puzzle piecing.

just a note for anyone wanting to learn an instrument and theory
Start on the piano
>Learn major scales
> Learn chords that that can fit the scale from each degree
> Learn how to make a major minor, 6th a dominant, to Major 7th
> Learn the sixth diminished scale
> Learn how the 6th schord of the scale alterntes with a diminshed chord (check out barry harris for this)
>Learn how the diminshed chord can go to major 6ths, and dominants, and minor 6th
> Learn how to change keys using the dimished to dominant can act as a 5 to another key.

When you get to guitar, do the same thing but figure out all the possible chords on your own first.
Have fun

I play banjo, mostly claw hammer/frailing style but I can do some fingerpicking. I’m not a turbo picker and mostly just do the t to accompany my singing...murder ballads, gospel, moonshine songs, etc. I go to local bluegrass jams where everyone expects banjo players to take Scruggs style breaks but I mostly just stick with playing rhythm. Same with my guitar playing, just chords and singing.
I built a 19th century replica fretless banjo and it sounds really different from the bright metallic modern sound, more earthy and plunky.

piano and violin
and i can use a daw a little bit

Ex-drummer, can now play guitar and rudimentary keyboards

sorry, cunt, I don't need to hear about your private life.
