I feel a less aggressive way of wording it is if you're looking for good lyrics, metal isn't the genre to search. Particularly in extreme metal, where obviously the vocals play more of a side role given they're mostly unintelligible. Even in lighter genres like trad or doom I've never come across a lyricist that struck me as above-average.

I have legitimately never paid attention to lyrics from either musician, do you have any good examples off the top of your head? If not I'll just listen closer next time I'm blasting Priest or Dio.

The actual lyrics are important, but not all vocals need to be super clean and understandable. If you can't understand what the singer is saying just look up and read the lyrics like a normal person. It's really not hard unless you just don't like to read.

Geezer Butler also did a great job in early Sabbath albums, mainly on Paranoid, Vol.4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

I've tried talking about it on here and it mostly gets disapproval from people that don't like Corpsegrinder. Also there is some minor stuff that makes it stand out to me, a lot of the early Fischer cc relies on the classic technique of "Just hit any note lmao" and while that still happens on occasion with this one (especially some of the solos but that's true of a lot of bands) there are a lot more consistent riffs, and a guitar tone that makes a lot of the lower notes a bit less muddy sounding, but for the most part there is still a lot of the now signature CC sound in there still. Again, a lot of the plus from me comes from Erik Rutan's production, the ones he did are for the most part the best Grinder era albums - Kill, Evisceration Plague, and Torture, as well as this one. There's a reason nobody listens to Gallery of Suicide as opposed to these four. He just gives it that extra little push for them to stand out just enough while still remaining consistent with the rest of CC's discography
