John and Paul are each outstanding, each bringing their own individual strengths to The Beatles, and later applying these talents to great solo careers, until John just stopped making records after 1980. As John said in a Playboy interview that year, "When I heard McCartney II earlier this year, I thought 'How the fuck do I compete with that?' So, I thought why even try to compete with it? I've got a good life with Yoko and Sean. I don't need to be in some twisted rock rat race."

Well his solo albums are far better than Paul's.

Absolute retards, Paul was the superior songwriter. He is a literal pop melody genius. Look at Johns solo stuff and you’ll see it’s just boring boomer chuck berry rock n roll stuff. Not very memorable besides lyrics and themes.

What made the Beatles great wasn't the fact that they had three brilliant individual songwriters. It was that PLUS the fact that they worked so well together as a unit. The reason John was considered one of the greatest pop songwriters of all time during his time with the Beatles was because of his synergy with the other members of the group, including Martin. His music would have much less impact without contribution from the other Beatles, and vice versa. See their respective solo careers for evidence of this.

Lennon was an absolute piece of shit. Just look in to the story of Bungalow Bill. He wrote it because it irritated him that there was an American staying in the same camp as they were when they did their trip through India. It's pure projection. HE was supposed to be the only special enlightened white man in India. How dare this OTHER white person think they were allowed to vacation here!
