Iggy Pop question

>Money and commercialism made them all sell out. Even Iggy let me down. The Sex Pistols let me down. Sid let me down when he fell in love (that’s why they are all dead). And now we have the Ramones praising bands like Guns N’ Roses, which runs against everything they were set out to destroy.
That’s from the GG Allin Manifesto. For those who know about Iggy Pops career, what would GG be referring to? When did he “sell out”?

working with bowie probably

making good music probably

>The Sex Pistols let me down
I guess he was too stupid to realize that the Sex Pistols were a corporate manufactured band

you realize iggy pop existed before he ever released an album right? he was an underground punker then signed to a major label for his first release. all you know him for is his recordings so you think. oh he never changed. thats because he sold out before he made any studio recordings. his debut was on the biggest record label on the planet.

I don't if a local fashion store can be considered "corporate", but they were definitely manufactured

Is there anything about this I could look into?

I mean I don't follow Iggy Pop at all or know anything about his career

when did gg write this?

I mean, at that time, you would have heard THIS on the radio, maybe MTV

What are you supposed to think, as an Iggy fan?

you just cockblocked my literary device...

Iggy is about the last guy you can accuse of selling out or being commercial.

lol what? he was literally signed to the biggest record label on the planet and took any opportunity to be on any shitty magazine or tv show

>underground punker
the stooges first albums were released on elektra

Whatever namefag

'common sense' if you want a viable fiscal life as an artist - 'selling out' is a tool of oppression used by mind control handlers

wow, punk was fake and gay.
who knew?

Elektra wasn't one of the huge labels like Columbia or RCA. They were always a bit more niche and specialized in hard rock and metal.

>a viable fiscal life as an artist
goes completely against the punk ethos. you dont conform and take part in society because you can do well while the rest of the working class suffers... hes trash

From the Classic Albums video on the band, it seems apparent that their manager had a decent hand in making the band what is was, at least in respect to their image. Doesn’t seem at all they were “corporate”, but they were well woven into fashion and the press. IMO that’s part of what made them punk.

yeah thanks. ill stick to listening and reading the ideologies of punks who actually lived in squats and lived by true tenants of anarchism rather than corporate conformists who sold the punk aesthetic for "viable fiscal lives"

cringe and ideology pilled

does your anarchist squat have wifi?

>cringe and ideology pilled
does your capitalist society have exploited labor for the benefit of the ruling class?

cmon
the world isn't hidden in a shroud of misty mystery.
is your squat cozy? are you posting with an old shoe connected to a typewriter?

GG tried to sell out his very first album but failed

GG was an autistic elitist retard, chan culture would have fit him like a glove. Anyways heres a pic of Iggy with two Japanese artists in the 80s.
