Alright Yea Forums, i need some advice. I'm gonna be 22 in November and I've never been part of a legitimate workplace...

Hot

Lack of ambition isn't my problem, it's the fact that I'm almost certain nobody's out there looking to hire people with no actual workplace experience.

>How is that no ambition?
4 years living as an "adult" but doing jack shit with your life.

Okay, a few things come to mind:

Establish and document your creds. Ask for letters of reference from your contract gigs. Become a regular volunteer in an area of interest and let it be known you're looking for full-time work (you never know who knows who, and if you make a good impression you'd be surprised how willing people are to make the connect). Get a professional to review your resume, even if that means paying for it. If you're a college grad, contact their career center --- they love alums. Shave. Pay for your shirts to be laundered and pressed. If you're American, consider something like jobcorps or AmeriCorps as a started (some programs even offer housing assistance). Control your drinking / substance use. Take a class (check out what's free on Craigslist) or join a community group --- meet as many people as you can. You don't need to be a social genius, just genuine, likable, reliable. Stay positive. Good luck.

walk into any restaurant in any town or city in any country
say you want to be a dishwasher
congratulations, you're employed

I have debilitating Bipolar that has gone untreated for years with no disability or benefits. It's hard for me to even go shopping most days. I studied a trade and I have prior experience, but I don't know how to look for a job and I have inconsistent work history. I smoke pot but it's honestly losing it's appeal. You don't have to be an asshole about it. I'm honestly making progress on my mental health.

same. 24, self-employed with a college degree. employers don't care. as long as you aren't fucking retarded, have any relecant experience, and learn quickly you'll be fine.

He’s not wrong though

>Paying to ask for a job.
That's such crap it's hard to wrap my mind around. It's fucked up that that's a thing.
