Why did the Pagans abandon their religions and convert to Christianity? What does Christianity have better than Paganism?
Why did the Pagans abandon their religions and convert to Christianity...
There's no such thing as "paganism" that just means anything non-Christian. As for what it has, that's easy: a free ride to paradise if you just say sorry after being a cunt. Considering all the kings and emperors and whatnot were often busy being cunts that seemed a good deal
Should probably move this to /his/
Most did it because it was beneficial to them and the situation was playing out as a "adapt or die" type of thing. Pagan kings realized they could more easily rule people if all of them were united under the idea that a king was appointed by a holy, unquestionable power. They also knew it granted them some immunities to larger kingdoms that had already adopted Christianity.
As for the locals, it was usually forced. Armies would go in with priests, cut down holy pagan forests, and forced baptisms were a thing. They'd club you on your head to knock you out, then baptise you and give you a christian name. Christian merchants also weren't allowed to trade with non-christians, so pagan merchants would either convert, or put up pictures of jesus to open up more avenues.
Kek bro ur an idiot do u seriously think anyone now or much less then got to "choose" their religion?
Ur either born into ur religion based on ur region or people with swords threatening insane torture make u switch. What do they even teach in history classes anymore?
Its because Christian's killed you if you didn't convert. Back when Christianity conquered instead of got cucked.
A trickle up economy in return for offering a one way all-inclusive ticket to paradise.
Because the whole of Europe got cucked by the Middle East and their superior religions.
christianity was it's era's communism. if you look at it out of religious context, it talked of equality in all things and most importantly equality of wealth. the poor masses took to it under the false assumption (as with any ideology) that they would benefit from it becoming the norm. rulers and priests fought against it because they saw the threat it posed but eventually they took the "if you can't beat them join them" approach. under emperor Constantine, christianity became the official religion and benefits were given to those who converted to it, creating waves of mass conversions by people who did not know or did not care what the religion was about and the pagan priests joined up as christian priests. those who had integrity in their faith to the old gods were eventually rooted out and christianity lost its meaning, becoming just another tool in the hands of the rulers and the priests to control the masses.
the truth set them free
