not at all. being remembered doesnt make a difference to the dead. whatever death truly is- an eternal black room, a "heaven/hell", reincarnation... it makes no difference whether or not you will be remembered. in the grand scheme of things, getting some sort of hope from the thought of having your fellow human beings remember you after you die when humans in general, may not last as a species much longer (for all we know) seems trivial to me. death is a grand state, so you have to measure things like "memories" on a grand scale, and on that grand scale: the thoughts and memories of your fellow human beings amount to virtually nothing.

I used to feel this way all the time, focusing on the negative and the "why bother." Now I live in hope for the Kingdom of Heaven, and work with joy to build it here on earth. I no longer care if I am remembered, because I understand that worldly fame is passing, and the esteem of men is as wing, but glory in the Kingdom is everlasting, and wealth built up there will never be destroyed by time.

I believe that our lives are a test, to see if humans are worthy of Christ's sacrifice. We haven't passed it yet, but we're on the right track. Christ and his army are going to defeat the forces of Satan on the last day no matter what the numbers are, but if we get to a stage where most humans are getting into heaven, then maybe God's joy will be so great for his flock that he'll save most sinners from hell. So every time you do good works in Christ's name in this life, you're giving happy oblation to God in the hopes of redeeming all damned souls with the incredibly awesome mercy of the Almighty.

I used to think about killing myself. I'm so happy I'm alive today, and it breaks my heart that other people still struggle with suicidal tendencies. I know that most of the time encouraging people to renew their faith is not completely successful, it's always worth it to try in my opinion. It's the best way to get them over self-hatred, as it helped me get over mine as start loving myself as I love my neighbor and trust in God.
