Which one is right?
Which one is right?
The TI-86 is right
Left
Niggers tongue my anus
Left. Brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction.
PEMDAS dictates that the left calculator being correct is not even a matter of discussion.
PEMDAS doesn't matter anymore in America. We use Common Core math. Learn to Common core boomer.
How do you even get 2 as the answer?
The calc says so.
>PEMDAS dictates that the left calculator being correct is not even a matter of discussion.
that's just an arbitrary social construct.
So is rejecting it.
Well its wrong. 288 is the answer but id like to know how 2 could be the answer other than the calculater said so
the 86 is currently correct. look, most people never go beyond basic algebra and even more people never go to college and even then, algebra is bullshit. in fact, calculus is bullshit aside from learning the concepts and they don't much require algebra. order of operations in this case simply accepts the vinculum as notation and not operation.
even calculus is stupid. when you kill yourself to get an A in calc I, you take calc II and they tell you that integrals are fucking stupid pattern bullshit and real engineers have giant books full of them and don't do the math by hand, filling two pages per problem.
now, we have some crazy shit called computers and math is fucking stupid. you just put in the rules and it does it for you.
STFU nigger
nice dubs!

When there's ambiguity the right thing to do is to solve from left to right, as you read a text from left to right.
so
48/2*(9+3)
=48/2*12
Ambiguity starts here because division and multiplication have equal priorities.
=24*12
= 288
80087355
using the PEMDAS system most people learn and accept in 5th-12th grade. you do (9+3) to get 12. then 12*2 to get 24, then finally 48/24 to get the PEMDAS answer, 2
absolutely based
But that left to right is completely arbitrary. We all use Arabic numerals today. But Arabic reads from right to left. Why wouldn't the ordering of the math operations match the language and culture where the number notation came from?
I'll meet up with anyone who says it isn't 2 and kick your fucking ass
48/2(9+3)
48/2(12)
>parenthesis first
48/24
2
using PEMDAS, (9+3) makes 12, then 12*2 to get 24, then finally 48/24 to get
288 is the answer if you enter that shit into a program like a mongo and don't enter it the right way. Lemme guess, mongo... Wolfram?
Ain't no "Ambiguity" here. You just wrong.
where you at? we gonna throw hands mf'er
PEMDAS goes out the window once you dig into boolean and linear algebra. The idea that multiplication precedes division is moronic and would result in a lot of fields of mathematics making no sense. There is no reason why that concept is even taught in schools.
Modern numbers were introduced to the West by Arabs but they did not originate there, they originated in India.
The parenthasis don't go away just because you did the math inside them. They are there until you multiply the two factors "2" and "(12)" together.
this
I learned to divide first if it comes before the multiplication because they hold equal importance
48/2(12) = 48/2*12
This step is important
Neither is right.

Slide thread designed to trick boomers new one is universally agreed.
First you do what's in the parenthesis, then go from left to right, aren't burgers taught this shit in 6th grade like normal people?
K retard
TI-85. It's PEMDAS y'all, it's always just fucking PEMDAS.
Dubs=Truth
86 is on the right. 85 is on the left
pretty sure this is a troll thread.

Bless Buddha, Allah or any other God someone that actually studied Math or Computer
288 is right u can Look Type it in like 48/2* 12/1 Else it it would be 48/[2(9+3)]
everyone saying left is the answer is degenered dogshit or got a bad edjucation
These problems are so fucking stupid and exemplify why you should always represent division via fraction. The grouping is fucking ambiguous and math is not meant to be ambiguous. Fuck everybody that spreads these problems around and shits on both sides because the fucking problem is shitty notation.
This user gets it
Omg u r right but what do u if u multiply 24 and 12 your Math is a lil off the rule is for people that doesnât see the fact that u can divide everythin with 1 so u have to divide first
it's not just PEMDAS, it's more like P,E,(MD),(AS)
you multiply and divide at the same time from left to right, same with addition and subtraction
but PEMDAS says its the one on the right
you do brackets then go left to right
