Obviously it's a person's responsibility to be reasonable and not buy into everything that gets marketed to them, and again that's applicable to commerce at large.

I am by no means a prepper, nor a homesteader, seeing how I live in a densely populated European city, but I like to be self-sufficient in as many ways as I can, and that to me includes good physical conditioning, and at least a passing understanding of combat in it's various forms.
