Are there any married Yea Forumsros here? How much should I pay for an engagement ring? Is 100 bucks enough or too cheap?
Are there any married Yea Forumsros here? How much should I pay for an engagement ring...
That's way too much. Most you should spend is $25, ideally $10.
3 months salary
1000 minimum if you're a chef at Wendy's
It's fine as long as you aren't dating a gold digger.
Engagement rings are a scam, pay like $5 on the engagement ring, and make sure she doesn't spend more than $5. Then give her $1000 in stuff that is actually useful to her. Like maybe a large garden, for homegrown crops. (potatos, carrots, apple trees, orange trees)
moisonite ring or some other lab grown thing. they shiny sparkle and durable cost less. Diamonds are only valuable first time they get sold. dont go to a box store, find a jeweler. if you go to a box store you are paying mostly rent and upkeep of the fancy services they provide you. If a girl makes a big stink on where and how much you spent on a symbol of love then you pretty much have an idea what future is like haha. You can be frivolous on jewelry when your older and secure and committed
Engagement ring?
Just buy a handgun and use it on yourself immediately, it’s a lot quicker and far less painful way to kill yourself
I wont be a doucher. My Fiance and I picked the ring together. It was a $700 ring that we paid $300 for. Its not always about the price of the ring. Unless she's materialist anyways.
Engagements rings are symbols/symbolic. It's the meaning not the material wealth that matters.
I got engaged without a Ring as you 'take a hand in marrage' not give a ring. We then purchased a nice small aquamarine stone. My wedding ring is Cobalt and hers is silver.
Spent less than £250 on rings in total and £6k total for the wedding. Don't buy into the meme of the wedding premium.
Says the nice little corporate stooge.
Pic related?
moar of her to decide price
I paid ~$4k.
All girls have their dream of what they want and it depends entirely on who she is and what she believes. Mine didn't feel comfortable with me spending 3 months pay so we talked about price.
If you're going to be proposing you should feel comfortable asking what she thinks about rings and prices.
Yep. More than enought.
Pay whatever is in your budget. I paid something like $300 and it looks like it costs way more. What I'd recommend is get something that looks nice that you can afford, and then purchase a maintence plan. That way when it starts looking dull or she loses a stone you can send it off to be repaired for free.
4 months salary goyim
But for me it was $100
think in terms of thousands, or your intended and all her family and friends will regard you as a cheap bastard
don't marry, just be dating and live together for 5-10 years first.
this
you don't ride a cow without walking the milk
I saved spent $600 on mine. Bought it at a pawn shop, it was probably ~$2000 new.
I was also 24 years old, been dating for 5 years, and making $14 an hour so take that as you will
Who's the girl of the pic? Such a pretty smile
$100 is plenty if you’re marrying a Puerto Rican or a trap.
I went to a rock shop and bought a nice opal had saw before but didn't want to spends the $75 on. Then I went to her friend and paid her $35 to wire wrap it in a silver ring. Gave it to the gf as a surprise and she loves it more than any ring she has because of the thought that went into it.
Ignore the 3 month bullshit, buy what you know will make your girl happy, i paid £1500. If a $100 dollar ring is good for your budget and she will happy fine, but it should be a gestire and part of that is making it suit her and commiting money shows in some part, dedication to that gesture.
Got mine on Etsy for like $278. Real good but fake diamond.
Diamond are a scam.
Get a Moissanite ring for peanuts, don't get diamond, they're a fucking rip off, with high prices set by cartels. Tell your fiancee it's diamond (only experts can tell the difference). Moissanite actually sparkles better than diamond and costs 90% less
Thought? You tight cheap bastard. Bet it's the shittiest looking ring ever. Should've gone a tad cheaper and given her a ring from a Christmas cracker.
Pay what you can afford to lose
This
In total I'm about $6000 in on my wife's engagement ring and matching wedding bands. You guys are fucking losers.
3 months salary, poorfags. If you cheap out everyone will know. Keep in mind everyone is going to want to see that rock. To cheap out is super low class imo. And I'm just a blue collar fag.
We need to illegalize gay "marriage" again
I paid about 5 dollars for her engagement ring. The ring doesn’t matter but the wedding sure will.
Ya diamonds are a rip-off. But that's not what matters to a woman, and her friends, and her mom. Ya it's just a symbol. And love is all that matters. But you look like a cheap trailer person or a fucking hippie.
Fuck the wedding. That's the rip off. Go on a kick-ass honeymoon.
Married user here. For anyone that wants serious advice, if you're going to spend thousands on a ring, go to Dubai they don't have taxes and franchises making a buck these things so its cheaper than other parts of the world. The jewelry shops aren't large franchises like in the West, they've got a shopping centre explicitly for jewelry with a hundred little shops in it, they're owned and operated by Pajeets working for very little money in sweatshop conditions. Can't beat those prices. Bought my wife a 1 carat flawless diamond ring for a few thousand. She was sucking my very soul of out of the end of my dick for months afterwards. Like Dementors out of harry potter but the opposite of that.
This guy should not have gotten married in the first place.
You need to spend at least 10x what your mom spends annually on pizza rolls and hot pockets that you eat in her basement.
God roll check, wasted on shit post.
user, do better
Or you could save the money from going to sandnation and just buy the ring.
Nope. The equivalent ring in Australia is about $20,000. I saved about $15000 by flying there with her and letting her pick it.
I spent $250 on my engagement ring, $1000 on my wedding, and $11,000 on my honeymoon.
You are not a average blue-collar fag are you?
That's how you do it!!!!
I'll retract my statement. Good job user.
Is the market pretty close to US? Also where the fuck are all of my fucking opals?!?!
I spent 5k on mine for a 1 carat high grade. My wife 10 years later says she wants a 2 carat and doesnt even care if its a CZ, she proceeds to tell me most of her friends with 2+ carat rings are all CZs. So I believe now at least half out there on these womens fingers are fakes and secondly what woman is going to check. To answer your question if she is a pig then spend 5 bucks! Secondly if you dont want to risk it buy at least a carat. Nothing less, just make sure it doesnt look yellow
if you buy your wife a sweet engagement ring she'll never forget it, and every other female she ever meets will immediately glance at her finger and evaluate the quality of the ring there. This is why its worth it to shell out for Tiffany or fancy as rings like user
I'm on a good income.
Other piece of advice is to use a stock index for all your savings - otherwise don't dabble in the stockmarket at all. Vanguard is pretty good, they charge I think $290 per year for every $100k you have with them (that's fuck all). The high growth index has gone up an average of 8% a year, every year for 30 years (including recessions and booms etc). This snowballs quite fast. It would take a long time to explain why stock indexes are the best thing to do, however, once you start having some savings and you're wondering where to put it (buy stocks, crypto, a home, etc) - just start googling stock index and passive investing and hopefully you'll take the rabbit hole down all the research done that shows passive investing into stock indexes is the superior and more reliable way to make dickloads in the long run.
2 carat? your wife has giant hands or what? 2 carat looks stupidly big.
where did you spend $5k on a 1 carat? USA?
Nice. But where are my opals ausifag?
want me to leak your best friend
This. I'm the user that bought the ring in dubai, it's 3 years later and other her friends are mad jealous of her ring. Diamonds are a total waste of money in one sense but the also the best thing you can ever get for a woman in another sense.
im working on it lad
Dollar amount is a weird metric to put on something like this. If you're planning on asking her to marry you, you should know what she wants in a ring. What she likes, doesn't like, etc. If you don't know this ask one of her oldest friends, they'll know. If you don't care about it being a surprise, shop with her that way she's happy.
Absolutely don't buy a big diamond, those are a trap. Prices are vastly inflated and artificial, there are plenty of nice looking stones for much cheaper. Moissanites are popular, look very similar to diamonds, and cost way less. Cubic Zirconia is cheap as fuck, like $20 for something that would cost thousands as a diamond, and if it scratches you throw it out and buy a new stone.
Just make sure you don't get a rose gold setting if she hates pink, etc. This is why you ask the friends/know your shit.
Serious shortage I guess. Mines are closing and some are depleted. But most I guess come from AUS. just a fav of ours and it's been hard stateside the last 10 years to find good rings, and etc.
Don't be an idiot, OP. Don't buy a ring outright, use auctions to look for nice rings at a fraction of the price. Stores will rip you off, but the government always fucks things like this up. Get the money you planned on using for the ring once you have your amount and use it at a police auction or estate sales. they auction off super cheap because it's about the government getting rid of things for a quick buck.
Here in the US, my go to is propertyroom.com, but you can find them everywhere, sometimes you can find events near you if you want to see stuff in person.
Good luck though, it does have the small cost that you can only bid what they have, if you want custom work, jeweler is still your only option.
