Well, best I can say is that it is... indeed a haircut. Keep the sides shorter than the top. You don’t need to go full undercut to give the impression that your face isn’t so round. You need a better haircut is what I’m saying.

at the time, when i weighed 100 lbs less, it was fine. yeah my diet is absolute shit now, but it was fine then.
i am pretty sure i have hypothyroidism (my mom has it and they thought i had it when i was like 12) but that only counts for like 10 lbs

It is scraggly. Just because you can grow it doesn’t mean you should. At the very least, use beard oil and trim all those scraggly hairs that are sticking out.
Really though, the biggest thing is the haircut and losing fat. The beard (if properly groomed - NOT like in that picture) might actually work well on a slimmer face with a better haircut.

the problem with the haircut is my head is asymmetrical. the shorter you go, the more evident the lopsidedness is
i guess i will trim the beard back a bunch. i like it longer than this so the hairs have some weight and lay down so it doesn't look as bad but it's stuck in the middle rn for sure.
