IMO yes.
Most of the people I know say it isn't worth it.
I just think its nice. I don't have to think for my self, I get more discipline and get to use guns n shit. I don't see a reason not to go to the army, yeah I might get called to a war but that's a risk I'm willing to take every day of the week.
For you personally? Probably not.
It is of great value to society though.
higher rates of drug abuse, homelessness, and mental health issues for near minimum wage pay, shitty healthcare, and college tuition.
seems like a great deal to me.
I thought war was the point of joining the army.
You'll hate it if you're anti-authority but regardless it's a good way to kick-start your life if you have no better ideas.
Sounds like the entire west coast.
yes a large portion of homeless population on the west coast are veterans.
I never had problems with authority? What's the chances of joining the navy seals?
Well yes but actually no, you get to meet people, it looks good on your cv, and I just like the idea of going to the army
0%
you almost certainly cant even qualify.
I’m a trumpster & support the military, police, etc but being an oldfag & understand real life most of the people you meet that are military/police are fucked up-in a bad way. Not from the experience.....
Ayy I got trips hell yeah
who would have thought jobs that are focused around violence would attract the most fucked up people in society?
Not necessarily true. They throw a lot of people in the program because they know hardly anyone of them will make it to graduation. So they just get dumped out to whatever rate needs the most manning at that time.
I know OP won't even make the basic physical requirements to even join the program.
Not any more, the army is a great institution however in today's times it's a shell of what it use to be.
The armed forces should go hand in hand with structure and discipline of the common folk.
If you call alcoholism drug abuse I don’t want to be right
alcoholism definitely drug abuse
Again than I’m not trying to be right
you're using that expression incorrectly
how many drinks have you had today?
Only like 11. Still not trying to be right in the eyes of the army they say I can only have two a day and not be alcoholic
liver cancer by 50
Checked
Dubs of truth
>is it worth it
Why do people always tack this on to their questions. Is it worth what? What do you want and what are the costs. Tell us that, and we'll tell you if its 'worth it'.
Ain’t scurred or worried about that. Trying to make my retirement date
so you can die in pain a few years later at the VA?
Pfft I’ll die long before I’m able to see someone at the va this I know
i meant as you die in the VA waiting room
Do you like dying for Israeli power? Then go for it.
Death to the entire middle east seems to be the goal, right? 18 years and not a lot of progress. How many years do they plan to be there? 75? 100?
depends on the army, caf ie is utter shit
You think the va will approve a dr visit prior to 18 months out? What drugs youn in homie?
Eseentially forever. The goal isn't death to the middle east, its just the easiest place to attack and establish our own bases so that we can keep an eye on china and russia. It's part of the long game. The questions are contextual to OP though. Is it worth it to him? well what the fuck does he expect to get out of it it isn't going to just be 'worth it' to everyone as a broad stroke idea.
>continously spew out veterans so next major war is fought with people who've been in combat
Either insane 4d chess or waste of tax payer money
>Afg 13-14
we always make that joke, but in reality it depends upon where you go. i have no problem getting appointments... also, you have to carefully guard against no-show appointments. you miss appointments, and it gets harder and harder to get another one.
>put in new soldiers
>fighting weeds out/strengthens the resolve of the surviving veterans
>steady pool of experienced soldiers mixed with new comers
In short it would be a well seasoned and trained army with a huge seasoned reserve/national gaurd vs. Semi battle hardened militaries
All still beside the point.
I do make the joke but Fall into the active medical system so I still see someone to lie to once a year
It will economically sink America. Have fun fighting a never ending war.
you irr?
still beside the point
Oh no of course. I totally saw the preparedness of the response time while i was deployed. The ever adapting small unit tactics. Its sort of smart to have a training ground to improve against larger forced
When the dollar falls (which it will as debt endlessly mounts and the people fall further into poverty) the war will do a quick 180 and the world will attack america.
It's intense, and if you even make it past the screening, you'll be filtered down and broken down to your breaking point.
If you want to join the navy seals you better WANT it.
Not american, but here I went through screening and testing and we started on hell week.
We were about 35-40 when we started,
at the end of it i think they were 8 who made it.
like that MSgt. told us before we started;
You gotta have willpower like and a genuine wish and balls to be there.
i'd do it again. i bitched and moaned the whole time i was in, but in reality that was one of the happiest times in my life. and i had to deal wth the stupid-assed gramm rudman hollings act.
Greedy people in the food and drug industry wanted a fat and sick nation for record medical and garbage food profits, and now the military has very few people to draw upon. It's kind of hilarious.
It was never for me , never really liked being told what to do. If you don't mind being told what to do why not? You get food , housing , medical care , a job , education , money for schooling outside of the military. Of course you could get called to war but from what I understand the army doesn't go in first so the odds of having to be on the front lines facing death is pretty low.
Yeah.I want to join the marines and the airforce or navy.I like being in the water and in the air.
also the pay is shit and no one wants to be deployed in fucking kuwait
Agr. The medics know my whole company are alcoholics though
Nothing to do with life and i want to be in other places besides texas.I also want to get rid of this neetness and anxieties that are hardwire into my brain.
That's a different metric, there are always those who don't want to join. We're at a record low for the percentage of people who are actually fit for service. I really think the goal is to get america as fat and stupid as possible so they are completely controllable.
Do you plan on being a cop? Or have particular skill set you want to expand on?If no to both than army isn't good for you.
wait, we still have a big presence in kuwait? besides, now that we're not shooting over there, kuwait is pretty wealthy. think dubai-light. the heat sux tho.
I want to be a contract killer. I figured it would be a good place to start?
>kuwait is pretty wealthy. think dubai-light
except the base is in the middle of the desert and not in the wealthy city
well, military service doesn't change who we are. it does, however, give you new experiences, skills, and a bunch of confidence. i'm still the same nerd i have always been, i just have a job. graduating jump school was a hell of a thing, too. shit about killed my ass.
I will kill Liberals for Trump.
your presence does not change when you are done in the military.
the uniform is your persona, when you're out, you slowly start to forget the way of the soldier
>military service doesn't change who we are.
tell that to the people with PTSD or CTE or life changing injuries.
DO NOT EVER say that to a recruiter! you'll end up in the PDQ database.
Like from the movies? Or like the pmc's? In ether case nah I don't think so. Those guys are are veterans from one many special forces out there. And I highly doubt you'll get a combat mos.
oh shit is that my ticket to get out of the draft once ww3 starts?
Was
my cousin joined so he could kill people, what's the big deal?
I'm an Army Infantry Veteran
If I knew then what I know now I never would have joined
Don't be another statistic
Don't encourage the military industrial complex
Stay home
Fuck bitches
Have fun & keep your appendages
Take this wood rifle and charge that machine gun nest, soldier!
you misunderstand what i mean. enlisting isn't going to change you from a nerd into captain fucking america. he was chemically enhanced anyway. yes, injuries and ptsd are difficult, i have both, but that changes how we live, not who we are. just because i enlisted and did well does not mean i am now 6'4", 230 pounds and cut, with a better jawline and pussy throwing itself at me.
yes, that would be one approach. tell them you voices say go to mcdonalds with a plastic spoon and stab big macs. or that you really want to date your mother. and father. any sort of semi-crazy shit that won't get you locked up will work.
Former Navy fag here. If you're doing it for a job, experience, etc. fine. If you're going it under the (false) premise of protecting your country and to be a good American, don't. It is all bullshit. The US Military protects Israels interests, period.
yes, but you don't walk in and announce it. it makes you seem like a psychopath. if you really were a psychopath you would know how to hide it.
CTE and PTSD can change who a person is and their personality.
They can go from a loving husband to a wife beating asshole.
yes, but that can be treated. i don't think you understand my point, i wish i could do a better job of explaining what I mean. peace, brother, i'm not here to piss you off or argue.
CTE can absolutely not be treated
its permanent brain damage
and PTSD is very resistant to any treatment
humans arent static beings and major changes in the brain will change the personality.
OIF veteran here, i agree a 100%
At the moment, no. Nothing to fight for besides the interests of the elite boomers that run this country. If it where 1862 then perhaps I would reconsider.
the doctor with the wounded warriors foundation has been treating it with hormones and some sort of magnetic therapy - seems to have great results
damn, you're a 19D? i'm not worthy.
There is a lot good research for treatment for PTSD, but CTE is completely different and there is no treatment, only managing of the symptoms.
Fucking kek
11B here and don't listen too these pussies.
Its worth it.
You get paid to work out and gain discipline and too bitches it makes u 5x hotter.
vetfag here.
jDO: 3 years, get out, 100% gi bill.
DONT: wear gruntstyle shit, boots with civi's. dogtags. marry a fat girl. buy a mustang/camaro/charger at 60% interest.
It´s a powerful kickstart. My family goes to the US Navy and is going very well, even if you don't do the full career. My cousin serves the minimum and goes to the UCSD and the other is deployed overseas in an aircraft.
but 0x5 is still a zero
and damn, that is completely fucking awesome.
that would have been me, i'm an RTO. oh well, we'll clean them out tomorrow morning morning. all y'all don't have no herpes, right? please say yes.
I got extremely lazy in highschool so my grades were pretty shit but my SAT is good. Couldn't get a scholarship for shit and I did not want to be in debt so I got in contact with an airforce recruiter, we talked about my future and whatever so I enlisted and it was worth it. Did my 3 years, saved up a majority of my money for the airforce and got a car, finished my bachelor's degree penny free, and now I'm an officer making around 80k with housing and shit paid. It's honestly something you should do if you don't know what do with your life. I recommend the airforce because it's not that hard tbh I met a lot of people and they all seem to regret doing the army and wishing to do the airforce instead.
>How does Yea Forums feel about DYING FOR ISRAEL? Is it worth it?
Yes it is worth it.
However, keep it in perspective. It is a job. Do not let it become your identity. Do your mission, but grab all the free education available. Do a job that has a civilization counterpart. Medic, mechanic or something like that. No jobs in the civillian world for grunts.
If you marry the Army you marry a whore. Command and the UCMJ will fuck you over in a minute.
I spent 20 years in the Army. I traveled the world, met new and exciting people and when they fucked up they got dealt with.
