user, getting a dog is like getting a kid. You NEED to take care of it and it NEEDS attention like a kid does. You need to give it a set schedule for when to go out for your dog to pee and poop and you need to commit to daily walks with it outside. If youre up for it then go for it. If you live at home with someone who can help you take care of it go for it. Cats are extremely low maintenance in comparision. You just need kitty litter and food and it essentially takes care of it self.
