Real talk, how can you get a minimum wage job without experience?
I keep putting my application into places, but no one even calls back.

Literally just make something up, 9/10 they never check. Put something down like you worked for a charity store or something
You can't get a minimum wage job? What a loser. You probably smell like ass
Wow, thanks. Really the encouragement I needed.
Hopefully the encouragement to take a shower
Are you actually going there in person, and talking to a manager, dressed well and smiling and being cheerful? That's basically all you need for a minimum wage job.
If you're just like applying to Home Depot online, that will never get you anywhere.
Anyone can be a cashier. Your definition of a minimum wage job probably doesn't actually mean it.
You gotta find a place willing to take a gamble on an unknown.
Any small bussiness you can visit, become familiar with the staff? (restaurant, grocery store, gas station)
Its not simple advice to give, and hiring is based on lots of petty choices.
If you're interviewing in person, get a haircut that doesn't scream "micromanaged zoomer". Bowl cut and wolverine level sideburns? Yikes
Call the place. Ask to speak to manager. Introduce yourself. Ask if they are hiring. Ask if you can come in to talk about the job and you've got an interview without waiting for a bullshit app to get reviewed. If person asks why you need to speak to manager do not tell them but be nice. If manager isn't there ask when they will be there and tell them you will call back. Watch YouTube videos on interview questions and you're golden.
You're so helpful dude. You should be an unemployment worker dude. You think like a fucking retard dude.
Bullshit, almost everywhere is online now days. Put in an app, and call them in a couple days.
>minimum wage
>no experience
Probably no qualification for that either?
I dont even
Sign up with an agency.
Factory work should be alright
UPS
You look smelly. And your man tit nips are poking out. Wear a beater or something under your sweater
>Bullshit, almost everywhere is online now days.
Yes you can APPLY online basically anywhere. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to make that your only connection to the people who would hire you.
You need to show enthusiasm and initiative and that you're someone people would want to work with, and that means going to the fucking store in person.
That means calling them. Going to the store in person will be pointless, as theyll tell you to apply online
I've turned down people with no experience before, normally make sure you're applying for a job that is a starting position. Don't apply as a line cook or as a grocery store department team member, start as a janitor or bagger, or retail cashier. Then you can move up within the company and get a proven track record of success and hard work. Putting out an application that's just your name and high school without anything extra, from the other side, is literally just hiring a blank slate that they have to invest time in training. Put any skills you might have (excel, word, powerpoint) and makeup stuff about high school or college, like "Lead a team of 3 people to clean campus and managed schedules of cleaning." Something to show you have a good work ethic.
Also, follow up within 2 or 3 days to make sure they reviewed your application. Asking for an update on where they are at in the process and asking about "Next Steps" generally shows you are above average. Trust me, ive scheduled 8 interviews in 1 day and every single one of them said they would be there then never showed. Rescheduled and they didn't show again. Most people are just bad, prove that you're better by going out of your way to be professional.
I feel this.
I got a call about a job today but I can't do it because I've already got a really good job that starts in a month. I asked if they had anything short term. They said yes and I went down to sign up. I start tomorrow.
>minimum wage job
Stop acting like this is his career he will be stuck with forever, you're being a fucking tard.
You go to the store AFTER you've applied online. "Hi my name is John Smith and I applied for your open position of [X] a couple days ago and I wanted to follow-up in person because I'm very interested in working here. Is there a manager I could talk to more about your hiring process and what kind of candidate you're looking for, and what I feel I could offer?" etc.
You do have to put some level of effort in though.
Solid advice. You definitely want to show up in person to follow up on your application. In my experience, when I show up and ask about my app, that’s when the hiring process starts, they’ll interview you then or setup an interview. Just calling or applying online alone doesn’t make you stand out much. Just fake it to get that bread homie
Nobody wants to hire a douche. OP is douche enough as it is. A phone call will do
seriously what the fuck is wrong with you. I'm beginning to think you're legitimately really dumb. No one in this literal entire thread is talking about lifelong careers.
But it doesn't take a genius to know you need to show some enthusiasm and work ethic even for your very first job that you are only planning to do during the summer.
I mean, I get that. But whenever I show up they give me a "Why are you even here, you're wasting my time" look.
Unless you want to work at McDonald's. They are always hiring. But there are plenty of other minimum wage jobs that are a LOT easier and less soul-killing than working at a fast food joint, and if you're a 16 year old who's never worked anywhere, you need to show that you're not going to be some flake who never shows up and puts in effort.
I agree with you brother
I got my last job stocking shelves at this one local grocery chain. I heard the boss likes good impressions so I came in person to deliver my resume, and I then came in every week for a month to ask how things were. He really liked my attitude so he gave me the job.
I actually just quit said job recently, buts thats because I'm moving on to pursue my BS in CS and my boss is actually really proud of me
It's like people don't understand that character makes up half of the qualifications
I got my first job when I was 14. Walked into dairy queen and worked three hours that day, no app, no interview. Stayed there for 2 years. You're the retard
If you came in every week for a month why didn't he give you a job? What if I don't want to harass a bunch of local businesses?
Gotta confront them about your application. If you get nothing back, call them, tell them you put in an application and was checking to see if anyone has seen it. Odds are, they'll get you in. Just gotta show you WANT to work there, not just dick around wasting peoples time.
What kind of minimum wage jobs are you applying for, OP?
>Why are you even here, you're wasting my time" look
That happens to everyone in the beginning. Especially from employees who aren't the manager and they don't know who you are or why you're here and they aren't paid enough to care. If they're really looking for someone good, a manager will want to talk to you. They may say they're busy now or the right manager isn't there, etc and you have to come back later. Or they may just not be that interested, and that just means try somewhere else. Just take rejection like it's no big deal, because it's not a big deal. You don't actually give a fuck about these minimum wage places, after all.
You'll get it, man, just keep trying. It was harder 10 years ago during the economic crisis, and getting a cushier job like entry level tech support is always tougher because there's more competition. But just think about what your skills are and write a good resume, and do a little rehearsing beforehand if you're the kind of person who gets nervous.
Like I said, literal retards can get a fast food restaurant job, because no one wants those jobs. But if you want a better job, you have to put more effort into it.
You sound like you may have anxiety user, I feel that, it’s fucking rough. But unless they’re explicitly saying something like that, I think it may be in your head. You’ve gotta change your frame of mind, you’re already accepting defeat before they’ve even told you to get the hell out. Walk in there like you already work there, make up a bunch of shit like you’re self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn. Even if it’s a cashier or something lower, we all gotta start somewhere. Best of luck user
He did give me the job. He liked my attitude
It's not harassing, I swear to you, hiring managers really like presentation and spirit more than basic qualifications, because that means you're more likely to work diligently
You have to have experience to get a better job. OP has never had a job, he needs a work history
Be alive. Know somebody and here is the kicker not be an antisocial fuckup.
?????
Profit
Or if you are an anti social learn to code or Ebay or Amazon. I make 12k a year going to garage sales and buying underpriced items to resell, in order to supplement my state wages.
I need to do this. What kind of items do you look for?
I think it's ridiculous how you need to go above and beyond and have experience for the most basic fucking jobs.
I've had management experience, have never been fired, and am educated and have been turned down from non-management position jobs before. It's fucking stupid.
Probably because you're a fag
Already I can see you don't have the right attitude.
I got turned down for an agency job with a large company and then went on to get a permanent job at the same company. Hired straight out the day after the interview. The reason is that I prepared for the interview a lot. If you really want a job just prepare and don't be so negative.
>I've had managment experience.
Good for you, mate. It's not everything though.
Oh my god op, turn in your app and you have to go check in on it every day until they are so sick of you they call. You can't expect them to call you there are so many people applying for these jobs you have to show some initiative.
it's just that I don't understand how annoying them show initiative. How would coming in and bugging them show anything but desperation?
If you are going for minimum wage jobs, and the posting does not explicitly say not to apply in person, you MUST apply in person.
If you were going in person, and you were presentable, you would already be hired. Lots of minimum wage places will hire a polite, presentable worker on the spot.
Good places hardly care more about experience than they do the actual person.
They'd rather train someone who gets along with people than to hire someone with some experience who doesn't get along with anybody.
Be cool.
bruh i cannot stress this enough you have to call them and bother them about the status of your application ! it shows you want the job i always find jobs quickly its true call hr and ask about your app evry 2 to 3 days also lie on your app if you have to i helped my grandfather unkel ect cut grass frame houses some kind of side job shit people do
best advice ever right here do it and get to work on my burger bitch or try for wearhouse jobs if your not a meth head and call them to check it out it will probably work muh nig
Join the army and just get blown up then you don't have to worry about finding a job. Or do 3 years and get out and then you'll be able to get a minimum wage job.
Not Only a cunt but a retarded one too. Get some help you moronic troglodyte
This is bullshit not only is that illegal because you're not a real employee and labor laws dknt allow that along with company laws but also it takes a few days to even get into the system as an employee. Stop being a traditional old ass faggot with your made up "walked uphill both ways to school" sounding ass
90% Contracting jobs are bullshit and a co-out used by employers so they don't have to adhere to basic safety standards.
youre not supposed to wait for them to call back.
out of the 5 places ive worked only one has called me back, all the others i called them the day after i sent my application and thats the only way theyll actually look at it. ive got a job every time i actually called them back. show some motivation
They turned you down because you're overqualified. They know you'll leave as soon as a management job opens up somewhere.
It's because you're 35 with no work experience so they assume you just got out of prison for a serious crime, or you're really lazy and will quit the moment you have to do something you don't like.
mfw thats literally me at 31
never had to work before and getting one now is next to fuckin impossible, so ive taken to just lying on applications
user, you must lie. it's the truth. the answer to are you currently employed is YES. i fell on hard times and was fired from a legitimate job, and i had to make up a company and pretend to work for them. i said the company was owned by a distant relative and listed my mom's phone number and address as the business address. 99% of the time they will never check. if they do check, you probably don't want to work for them (its a red flag for a psycho boss). the world is your oyster. make 3-5 different resumes with different "themes" like food service, av, etc. make up about 3 fake jobs. then apply online to everything like its the fucking antidote. i believe in you, op, godspeed
Put on your application that you are gay and black even though you don’t look like it.
Have a pulse.
Have transportation.
Don't be insufferable and annoying.
Don't be a douche.
This is literally all it takes for entry level positions.
Walk into any staffing agency. If you have a clean criminal record and can pass a piss test I guarantee you there is warehouse work available. If you have some computer savvy you can get into Inventory Control or Shipping/Receiving pretty easy. Most of the time the inly thing you have to do to get ahead is show up every day and not act like a cunt. t. someone who's worked in Staffing for 12 years.
Did you explain why you didn't work before, and why you need a job now? It might calm their fears.
If you're not getting interviews your resume sucks ass.
If you're getting interviews but no offers, you suck at interviewing.
For a minimum wage job, you basically need a high school education, a permanent address, and transportation. You also need to be able to show up to an interview wearing normal clothes, acting and smelling like a normal person, and then pass a piss test. Most minimum wage jobs are such high turnover that they'll take anyone that doesn't seem like a total fuck-up weirdo.
Yeah dude. If you can't even get a job at McDonald's take a real step back, and look at yourself
Go for farm labor. It's such a shitty job they will most likely higher you same day.
This is bad advice. As someone who's hired people, please don't do this. Apply online, and leave them the fuck alone til they call you
This. and be willing to accept part time at first. Get the first job for low money/low hours, literally anything, then once you have it start applying everywhere else. Never move jobs unless they offer more money or better hours...just keep jumping jobs until you are making good money. That's how it works these days.
Bump.
This thread is 60% solid advice, which is a good thing considering this is Yea Forums.
