Alright /b, this is the wrong place for this but its still better than reddit. I got an ASVAB score of 91 and im conflicted. My navy recruiter said i should join and do the Nuclear Power Program, and thats a cool job BUT i always wanted to be a bad ass spec ops infantryman. Should i give up my children and potentially my life and less money for an experience some people spend their entire lives fantasizing about, or should i take the safe route and be a family man nuclear engineer for the navy? If it helps, i want to have a lot of kids. Like 5, at the least, to spread my smart genes. What does /b think?

most people who want to go into spec ops and think they have what it takes fail out. Should you give up everything for a small chance that you make it? If you do, what'll you do next when your body's too worn out to continue. Don't become a nuke out of fear, but don't try for spec ops out of bravado

If you aren't going to be an officer in the military and you have those scores, you need to rethink what you're doing.

i am a pussy so i would pick the engineer career.

Don't most nuclear engineers spend entire deployments in submarines or some depressing shit?

Homer Simpson is a nuclear engineer and has 3 children so far, you want to become Homer Simpson trust me! Shits good.

Fuck the military commercial is where its at I make $400k pa AMA!

do you know why he asked you to join this certain project and no other?
it is simple: the navy desperately needs people for this project.
and just so few can do it.
sure i respect our men and women at the front but if there was any duty you have to fulfill for your country it will be done at the nuclear project.
pretty sure your recruiter will agree

if you cant decide: ask your recruiter if you talk to (former) spec ops AND a nuclear engineer.

Have you never been to /k/? NEVER GO ENLISTED NUKE!

You get no qualifications or anything back from infantry, you'll have a short career doing the same thing constantly before being left behind and ignored
