It's mostly just that it's become a porn-focused board. In the old days it was just a place to talk about whatever was on your mind and shitpost a little. Porn was allowed and you had porn threads, but it wasn't the focus of the board. Even the US state-specific threads (Texas thread, Oklahoma thread, California thread, etc.) used to be general discussion threads for anons living in those areas, now they're just /soc/ tier hookup threads and places to dump nudes of girls from those states, in case you get bored with every other thread on the board which is just about dumping nudes (read: every thread on the board).

Well, we grew up, don't have the time anymore to shitpost and raid and make stuff, we have responsibilities now, families. Our free time has become way more valuable.
The real question is: Why is the current generation so fucking useless at creating fun OC and the answer is probably that there is so much content out there being produced that there simply isn't any need to become creative yourself, as you can completely stun yourself for literal billions of hours with stuff someone else has done.

I was part of an "asking old dudes for advice" thread back in November. Someone asked how long I'd been on Yea Forums (since 2008) and if it really is different now. Here's my response, that kinda fits this thread:
To Yea Forums specifically, the only answer is "Yea Forums was always bad". But we were around when rage comics were invented. Shit some of my faves that you may have never seen are "foul bachelor frog" and (even better) "foul couple frogs". Yea Forums (especially Yea Forums) was filled with OC and new ideas and edgy shit. That became the purview of 9gag in recent years, and even they are down to just reposts now. Yea Forums conducted raids, we were there for "dun goofed", and "epic beard man" and everything else. I remember the dudes in Oakland finding the epic beard man and Amber Lance, and I admit it's rare to see that now. So I don't know, I had to write all that down to give you an answer:
Yea Forums is sorely lacking in edgy OC anymore. Sure, there's the occasional thot who gets doxxed and we enjoy her nudes, but that was standard fare back when. I'd say Yea Forums isn't what it was (keeping in mind it always sucked), yet I'm still here. I wish there were fewer Andy Sixx threads and bananas and traps, but times change and my old ass has to embrace it and hope it shakes out ok.....in this area and 100 others.
So to me, "the world is going to hell in a handbasket and you dumb kids need to get off my lawn", and yet, EVERY generation has said that yet here we all are and (overall) doing ok. I would love to see a return of OC to Yea Forums, tho, but Andy Sixx's log and a fucking banana prevent that. However, Yea Forums can still get a president elected, so I can't bitch about it too much.
