>be me
>be 17
>skip going to college immediately to "find myself"
>be 19
>use knowledge from high school and personal studying to get security +
>use certification to get a job for 60k a year
>gain some experience and another offer for 100k if i get my ccna
>humble brag to my friends who went to college
>they congratulate me but still feel happy with their decision to go to college
>realize that since everyone went to college i have become far less social and act much older than my age
>question if i have skipped passed an important part of my development
>be now next semester it coming up
Should i still sign up for college not only to prevent any education ceiling but not miss out on the best years of my life?
Be me
grass is always greener on the other side faggot
are you really contemplating dropping tuition down just to maybe have a few more chats than you would now?
Fellow IT fag here. It's always good to have an education under your belt along with the certifications. I have A+ and Net +, currently working on Sec +. It's hard to find an IT job around here, even with those certs and a 2 year degree. I'm going for a 4 year degree starting this fall. I'd recommend it just to have more on your resume, but it's up to you if you're already doing good in the work force. The only thing you might've skipped in college are parties to be honest. I've made a couple of good friends while in college, but it's just like high school. You can still hang out with people your age, but it would be easier if you went to college to be around them naturally. Still, up to you dude
Extremely high guy here. I'm high as shit.
I'm in your situation, except 4 years older and 50,000 in the hole from student loans. If I could do it again, I'd do it your way. So, given that I could've been working instead of going to college, going to college cost me around $300,000.
If college years are supposed to be the best of your life I should probably just kill myself now. Between work and school I hardly have time to do anything
Sounds like your doing great honestly.
College years are supposed to be the best of your life if you end up as an absolute nobody. For the rest of us, it's something you have to do to get to the good stuff
This, I spent most of my time studying. There were a few parties and I could've done a lot more if I wanted but eh.
Shit, thanks man. Glad I'm not alone in this situation
Only reason I'm doing so well is because in Georgia, we have the HOPE grant, so with my good grades, I pay nothing in tuition. I'm going to take all my classes for my 4yr degree online, and I will pay next to nothing. Honestly though,vi thought I'd have a job by now with my 2yr degree, A+ and Net +. I could go to Atlanta to get one anytime I suppose, but I don't want to have to work and live in an over crowded area.
Yeah, I go to a few parties during the summer or on Christmas break and other holidays but the rest of the year is pretty miserable
Fair tbh
Good point noted
Off of what?
Feels bad man
Do you guys think you are gaining life experience that you could only get from college?
>100k if i get my ccna
kek
Marijuana
do not fall for the scam dude. seriously. tens of thousands of dollars per year just to larp around in highschool part 2 is definitely not worth it.
Have you been to college if so how was your experience and if not how well are you doing now?
Hello pajeet.
College is wasted on the youth, yeah stories are great, but a fat paycheck is better, just get into hobbies.
Don’t waste your time and money in amassing debt
you fucking idiot
It not just being social im also a bit afraid that i might hit a ceiling in my career due to not having a college degree
Is that a legitimate concern or would my experience suffice
Kek
No don't go to fucking college as a full time student if you're making $100k. Keep working and take classes at night as a part time student at a state college. Get your bachelors and then your masters all while continuing to work full time. It'll suck for many years but you'll be banking money the entire time instead of getting in debt. In the end you'll be ahead of your peers because you have all these years of work experience plus a masters. Better yet, get hired somewhere that will pay your tuition. Most good employers will kick you $5500 a year in tuition reimbursement. Part time state school will probably cost you like 7-10k a year and you can easily pay that without loans on a 60-100k salary.
Went to college for 6 years. University of Wisconsin. Total cost$70,000. Loans $40000. How the fuck did you spend that kind of money?
Ty user this was actually very helpful
I dropped out of high school, taught myself, and loved learning/bettering myself. Started part time yard in a lumber yard. Fast forward 10 years and business owners from around the metro area look to me for sage advice and I make over 150k a year selling building materials. College is for some but is no substitute for a love of self improvement and decisions based on honesty and integrity. "It is better to be without silver than to be without honor."
you will look back with pride on your responsibility
life is about moving forward not trying to stay immature
Happy to help. That's how I did it. I went to college full time, hated it and fucked around eventually dropping out after three semester. I moved back home and was doing nothing so I was thrown out of the house and told to sort my shit out. I ended up getting a job, going to classes at night and eventually worked my way up to an MBA and a director job. I'm 32 and make around 200k a year now. You absolutely want to get a masters degree eventually because employers won't even consider you for management jobs without one but what will actually get you hired is your experience and how you carry yourself. Few employers give a fuck where you got your degree and whether or not you did it full time or part time at night. Imagine doing it while building wealth rather than accumulating debt? It's possible.
Hey bro, me too
