Hey Yea Forums if any of y'all know anything about rahses or skin or anything like that any input would be appreciated.
My brother has gotten a rash or something on his skin about 6 months ago that has progressively been getting worse. He says it itches, bleeds, feels very hot and sweaty, and it hurts him a lot. He takes a crap load of medications and has a lot of different mental and physical disabilities I can't name them all and don't know too much about it but I can try to find out if it'll help. Anyways the red spots on him hurt him and it's very complicated but basically we can only have him on the weekends and whens he's not home we can't give him any medications unless he has a prescription and over there they ain't doing shit for him. My mother is taking him to a doctor rn and Im trying to figure out what we can do to help. I can post more pictures if you need, and any input would be appreciated.
Is he on Lamitcal? Looks like Steven-Johnson's Syndrome. If he is talking Lamitcal, and the rash came on pretty suddenly. Go to an ER immediately, or I'll die. If not it's probably cellulitis or a fungus, still go to the ER, or at least Urgent Care.

ay this is OP. A lot of you say its shingles so i let his doctor know hes seeing him rn, also my family is all pretty fat tbh and he's supposed to be on a diet but we only get him over the weekends so its not like i have control over it. I wanna stop the pain rn cuz it really hurts him.
hes got a lot of different mental disorders. OCD, ADHD, Mental retardation, Intermitten explosive disorder or something like that, he's got a shunt in his brain, fucking all kinds of shit. Thanks for all the input I appreciate it so much. anything anyone needs to know?

go to a doctor, you fat piece of shit

You can alleviate a lot of those disorders by cutting out as much carbohydrates as you can. Up his fats and protein intake and cut back on the carbs.
Carbs = Sugar

Is he a good lay?
Charles Campbell
look into the keto diet for him
he'll lose weight and it might help with his retardation

Also get him the fuck off Risperdal, it's jacking up his prolactin, and kinda looks like has Cushing's as well. He needs to be check out for 1. Steven Johnsons, 2. cellulitis or other bacterial infection 3. fungal infection, 4. Cushing's dz, 5. Labs: lipid panel, A1c, Cbc /diff, CMP, dex suppression test, tsh, Vit D, ANA (if positive than anti-Smith antibodies), Sed rate, CK. If he his having trouble with ADRs get the county involved and get him some OT/PT (in-house) at the very least.

im talking to our family doctor right now but he's not in so my mom is taking him to urgent care, apprently my family doctor thinks its some kind of fungus it been developing for 6 months apparently but only just started getting really bad last week.

Definitely not shingles, lol.
Could be a yeast infection. Go to doctor.
Nathaniel Powell
If he has fever, could Be a bacteria skin infection, If not, looks like a fungus infection, it does not look like shingles nor Steven Johnson MD here
Oliver Roberts
it's not Stevens–Johnson syndrome, fucking idiots
Evan Hall
op here, temp was 99.7 family doctor (not in right now, on call with him) thinks its a fungus infection, said not to use lotions or nothing just use cold rags and shit but basically no lotions or creams or nothing. it looks like its in all the areas he sweats in.
Henry Phillips
I cannot confirm if it is the same but my friend once had something close to this? It all spread around his whole body and his scalp it was weird but the doctor said it was from the low quality food he eats and he had some special soap and lotion for it? It did not take long to disappear. But above all its all about the diet man and he is obese and that's something must be cured before everything.

Humidity+high sugar blood = fungus colonization, Be aware of the fever, the broken skin can Be used by bacteria to generate an infection that could Be seriuos but the synptoms would be pain on the skin+rash+fever, not just the rash Gl on your brother, living with People w/disabilities is hard

Nope not Shingles - doesn't follow a dermatome. But the fact that it hurts, itches, and is bleeding means it's not just dermatitis. Sertraline can have some serious skin conditions, but less likely (though more likely if he just started it). Plus I START 5 year olds on 25mg, so I hope he just started it and is titrating to a therapeutic level. As for the Depakote - not a horrible choice with someone with ID and anger issues. But I hope he tried like the 4 other meds that are more appropriate. But I assume Depakote ER 250mg at bedtime. That, again is a baby dose. I have never started anyone on a dose that small. Should start at minimum 250mg (of ER or DR) 2-3 times a day, with max guided by blood levels he SHOULD be getting at a regular basis. Usual effective dose is minimum of 1000mg ER aQM and 2000mg ER qhs. But blood levels should decide this.
But this is of topic. If he just started on the sertraline or the depakote (or even if he didn't), he has a diffuse, painful, itchy rash (and it's NOT shingles), GET HIM TO A HOSPITAL. It's likely an ADR or some nasty infection.

Hey OP, I also suffer from a skin rash which doctors havent been able to identify, albeit much smaller, it couldnt hurt to try some of the things I use to keep my rash in check, a few being drink lots of water, take cold showers, apply moisture creams (doesn't have to be prescription), if it is winter time where you are that might also be part of the problem, as there is less moisture in the air.
