Its entertainment, people are allowed to be excited about their interests. Its no different from cheering on a football team, or being excited about a new album coming out. Just because your interests dont line up withother people's, doesnt make them any less valid.
For example, i think people who are interested in sports are a bit simple and easily entertained, and people passionate about hunting only feel like a man when theyre firing a gun. But its their hobby, its up to them what they do.
