Don't quit your day job yet...

Like the second one better.

Your voice is too flat sometimes and there is no echo on it. The guitar sounds great in most places, but the voice needs some Echo. And don’t be afraid to let it out. I think you’re onto something with this echo-y guitar in the lead riff sounds cool.

what was the second one?

yeah i was mostly dicking around on the guitar, i might chop out the solo, just leave the main riff and the verse and chorus. as for the voice being shit, yeah i don't know what the fuck i'm doing. i don't even want to sing i just want to play guitar but nobody wants to hear just guitar and nobdy wants to be in a band with me

man fuck hobbies i guess

Bit scratchy in the middle. Progress can be made.

You have some good guitar skills. Where are you from.

like the noodling around?

As a boomer musician who went to school for it and has played in bands of many different genres (and who is very tired right now), here is the bottom line - you are, for the time being, a rhythm guitar player. Find some guys/ girls to play and write with for a few years to start with.

Ok it’s definitely not the worst I’ve heard and bro coming to Yea Forums to get your music critiqued is proof of big balls. So your cadence is just a little off on vocals. If you sing the words at very specific spots it’ll help the song a lot, guitar as well, you need to try and make a perfect 4 bar loop.
Then maybe some software and arrange the notes so they fall exactly where they are supposed to.
Just some thoughts.

As a famous guitarist for 50 years, I would tell him to ignore people like us and just do what he wants to do.

yeah i'm almost fucking 30 so that ship has sailed

i think it's time for me to find a new hobby that doesn't break my heart.

Got it. Thx op. I am super busy at work right now but I’m definitely interested in creating some good content.

fair enough, i played a background riff on a looper pedal and then played the "main" riff on top of that, there was a little fraction of a second of empty space every 4 bars. then recording the vocals on top, there's latency from my computer so it's a little behind. i tried to fix that but i'm not a producer, so it's all still a fraction of a second too late. so it all sounds like ass. not that it wouldn't sound like ass anyways but you're right, that shit is not helping.

It sucks

Not necessarily. What are your goals anyway? I mean you can certainly play for free as background music for a friend's casual party as-is. Next step may be taking a few lessons that concentrate on soloing. Any hobby can break your heart if your expectations are too high.

Thanks, ghost of Dick Dale. I love you.

i just want a hobby that people can't say i suck at. doesn't involve other people judging me.

good content? better look for someone else lol.

Ok, now we are at the root of the issue. Take me for example. I play a lot of solo gigs and some band gigs too. If you were to get 100 musicians out to a gig of mine, probably a good 5-10 would say that I sucked. One night recently I even told my wife I sucked. But usually, I'm alright with my performance and don't give a shit what a few people say as long as the vast majority are enjoying it, I'm having fun, and I'm getting paid. You have to know your audience. I'm not ready to play a major venue, and that's fine with me. I have a niche that I'm satisfied with for now. In other words, some people will always say you suck. And even if it is one person, it may feel like 100. Do right by yourself and let the cards fall where they may. Listen to criticism so that you can grow, but don't let it stop you. For the record, I never said you sucked, only that your best asset right now is your rhythm guitar playing - it's good for what it is.
