The other day I was playing osrs (inb4 fag) and a guy joined our clan chat, a high end PvP chat, and was asking a bunch of shit... Clearly had no idea how to game worked but wanted to PvP, because he enjoyed it in darksouls. Clan laughed at him but I dm'ed him and gave him some tips and where to look and gave him some cash to start out, chatted to him over the next few days. He was a pretty cool guy. Haven't seen him online in about 9 days now, felt a bit sad writing this out
thank you for contributing to the theme of the thread you fucking reprobate

>Playing csgo in 2013 >solo que at 1am on west coast >my whole team is probably around LEM level >1 guy bottom fragging whole match, doesn't talk >teammates start giving him shit >he talks, he's stuttering, clearly has a speech impediment >guys call him autistic >tell my teammates to shut the fuck up and to leave him alone >they give me shit, I yell at them call the faggots, tell them they got a small dick for picking on this dude >dude stops talking, but drops for me every round >it's 15-14, 2v2, I got 1 hp bottom frag has 5 frags and a p250 and I drop him my ak bc hes full hp and I die >teammates yell at him and me for dropping ak to him >he clutches we win 16-14 >he adds me >I give him vent info and said if he wants to chill and play another game >he joins >awkward at first, ask him where he's from >small talk >he opens up, stutters less and starts crying >I asked him whats wrong and he said oh it's nothing >Play with him occasionally over the next year >he opens up more and more, stutters less and less, becomes better at the game >he's a really nice and funny dude >one day he doesn't log on >I fear for the worst >no way to contact him >2017, 2 years ago I log on >he gets on after being offline for 3 years >he asks to talk to me >sounds more confident, almost never stutters >just says he wanted to thank me for saving his life and that he was going to kill himself that night I stood up for him >He had a major brain stroke and required surgery, he lost most of his ability to speak, his dad and mom were getting a divorce and his dad felt like a failure because he thought his son was a failure and he couldn't pay for the surgery (lots of debt) >his dad killed himself a day before played I played that game with him >he said hes working as an engineer now and has a healthy relationship with his family and took speech therapy classes to get better. >I teared up and told him that I'm glad his alright fuck man, the world is crazy
There's so many times when people say that videogames don't matter as much as the real world, but stuff like this shows that between all the robotism that dominates our gameplay feelings, videogames are just as much a part of humanity, of society, as other aspects of life. The soul of using a media of entertainment, that we normally use to distract ourself from our own shitty, broken lives, to help somebody out and show them part of the hope that keeps us alife is immense. I love you anons, and I'm so glad things like these can happen.

>Be me 15 years ago. >Play Diablo II online using the assassin character. >Paladin douche shows up, demanding to pvp with me. >He won't take no for an answer, even though pvp isn't my thing and waits outside of town for me. >Not wanting to puss out, I go out and meet him, engage my skills and kill him with 5 fast consecutive blows. >Pick up his ear, most of his money and say "well there was your pvp". >Leave him to type out a string of curses >FeelsGoodMan.jpg
>be me >at moms for weekend >best friends were two girls, sibling who lived across the street >best friends >used to play on my wii >used to play mario galaxy a lot >one day theyre over hanging out, we're playing mario galaxy >final level >beat it >credit sequence comes on >we all flip our fucking shit >first game I ever beat as a kid Thats all I remember of that moment >mfw they moved away and I only saw one of them once again ever
I dunno why I'd need to be redeemed though. I enjoyed hunting for rare items and trading with them in that game, which meant having to be a beefy character. That Paladin guy probably was a good pvp'er, but he didn't even get a hit in, because I'd maxed out my damage output and attack speed. I did that to get good gear and it worked, the game even gave me a spiky graphic on my armor because my damage output exceeded my damage taken by a lot. To be honest it was just funny to hand a guy his ass on a silver platter, after he'd talked shit to me for about 10 minutes.

Yeah true, but to be fair, paladins aren't paladins unless they're acting holier than thou and speaking down to you. I'm fairly certain they wear plate mail to hide their hammer and sickle tattoos and technicolor hairdos.

>years ago on FFXI >max level and powerleveling scrubs in Valkurm Dunes as BLM/WHM because I'm the fucking coolest >party wraps up and I see someone shouting for a teleport-dem, guys name was Minivilli >blind invite, cast protect and shell on him, teleport them for free, and warp away >"wait! come back!" >I teleport back to the dem craig "You might not remember me, but I remember you. I shouted for that teleport because I knew you'd be the one to invite me. I was always nervous as a whitemage, but you taught me how to heal! It was in Qufim Island. You taught me to just use my small heals and never my big ones unless I absolutely had to. I got so many compliments on my healing thanks to you!" >he went on to tell me there was an accident >that he might never be able to play again >As a kid myself at the time, I believe I was 16 then (now 28), I assumed the worst >dead parents or whatever, maybe a car crash >he gave me all his gear, all his gil, and a heartfelt goodbye >he said he wanted me to become the ultimate Blackmage, and that he wanted to be part of my legacy the best he could >I went on to become a great player. multiple jobs max level >Moved on to XIV years later, and now I'm a top tier blackmage on there. (as well as a MCH, RDM, AST, and DRK) Hope that kid, or I guess guy now, is still out there and everything worked out for the best. Who knows, maybe I'll find him ingame again one day.
