Would it be possible for an elite-level worker to take a reasonably athletic person with a lot of wrestling knowledge (but no training) and have 2 star plus match with them?
Flair could have great matches with barely trained jobbers in the territories.
Okada had a pretty damn good match with a Tenryu who was damn near immobile. I know Tenryu was one of the greats but if Okada could do that I bet he'd have a good chance. He carried Mikey Nichols to something that wasn't abysmal so thats another feather in his cap.

working a match with someone with *literally zero training* is a horrible idea, and a lawsuit waiting to happen. even guys like mr. t and lawrence taylor at least spent a few weeks learning basic shit like how to take bumps and how to throw a working punch before their high-profile matches at wrestlemania
Landon Bell
And? Bulldog was trained in the Hart dungeon.
I'd rather let a Formula 1 driver whose high on painkillers drive my car than an Eskimo whose never even heard of a car.
Owen Long
Nicholls is a serviceable wrestler, he's just a charisma black hole on an unprecedented level.

This is the first interesting thread I see on Yea Forums since 2017
Christopher Baker
I thought he was perfectly solid as a tag guy up until recently. He's either regressed or doesn't care as much now unfortunately. I guess it didn't help his big debut New Japan Cup match was against Hikuleo (who has potential but isn't there yet).
Elijah Rogers
I think somebody that has watched wrestling all their life understands how to take a back bump at least.
David Jackson
This is the answer. If Bret hart had 3 hours with you to show you how to land on your back and how to lean into the ropes he could put on a watchable match.
Matthew Mitchell
this happened pretty often in japan, especially with inoki and onita. onita had a weird series with leon spinks.
there's a lot of ways to have a pro wrestling match and two stars isn't that lofty. you can usually get there just by being unique.
Evan Lewis
You’d be surprised. It’s not just about falling flat on your back but also being able to make it look and sound good.
Jason Peterson
It's possible, yes but the lack of training to take bumps and also to do moves without killing the other person would be a problem.
It would probably depend on the person carrying them. I'd trust someone like Ronda or HHH to carry one of the women or men, respectively than I would say, HBK or Becky.
Jayden Brooks
You don't even need to be an elite level worker, just smart enough to put together a match. DeAngelo Williams got a two+ star match teaming with Moose against Eli Drake and Chris Masters.
Nolan Hill
It's also about digging out the ingrained fear and reflex. I'd say a lot of wrestling fans would still hesitate on the landing and try to turn themselves if it was among their first times doing it.
Eli Bennett
Everyone who’s ever come to training for the first time is a wrestling fan and you know what? All their first bumps suck. Takes some work.
Anthony Brown
when did they have this match?
Josiah Parker
Yeah exactly. Even with a jujitsu background, I had to specifically take time out to do nothing but flat back bumps to get them to the point where the more experienced guys commented that I bumped like HHH. There's this old video floating around of KENTA visiting an MLW training school and the difference between his bumps and the trainees' was astounding. The trainees tended to almost float downwards into a back bump while KENTA was practically flinging himself down. No surprise which ones looked and sounded more convincing.
