How is he so good?
How is he so good?
Dunno.
I also don't care so long as he keeps doing it.
he actually isnt that good, its just the booking...give anyone from johnny gargano to seth rollins that kind of booking and you people would be singing their praises too.
>Seth Rollins
Yikes
Let's not forget who made Okada into a household name. It wasn't Tanahashi.
amen brother
>Seth Rollins
>Given A lot of match time to develop the story of the wrestling match
>Established moveset
>Long finishing stretches
>Prepared to take a bump
He’s actually not that good, anyone could do this, Kurt angle proved this when he adopted a similar mindset at one point, they’d just do filler for a few minutes and then make the finishing stretch half the match, which made them all seem ebin, but Kurt angle is shit so they got boring quickly because his wrestling didn’t tell a story
But it always works out well when the office gives a guy heaps of time and puts faith in him, and that guy is prepared to take a bump and put in maximum effort. Worked for Tanahashi, worked for Muto, worked for Hashimoto, worked for Misawa, worked for Marifuji, Miyohara, etc etc etc
It’s how how gets guys over and have good matches, it’s not a secret it’s just common sense. American promotions just hate money.
>Seth Rollins
Yes it literally was.
pretty good
>Shit finisher
>Not international
Big match John is better than this piece of shit
>Seth Rollins
Okada was big deal before Omega
He's pretty bad tbqh
>thinking the rainmaker is shit
That's some major cronge my dude
>thinks a lariat is a shit finisher
>thinks a fireman’s carry slam is a good finisher
State of e drones bro
THANKS user
Natural talent plus hard work.
revisionist history
big fish in a small pond until omega came around
He's not really that good. People started thinking he was worth a fuck when Tanahashi, White and Omega carried him to good matches.
>household name
lol
Tanahashi gave Okada the rub, before that Americans didn’t even know Okadas name. After that he was an immediate sensation.
Omega was still working tags and jr heavy matches then
What booking? Winning a bunch of titles, rarely losing and getting to have long matches? Seth has all that and is still mediocre.
An understanding and respect for the importance of selling, pacing and building to a satisfying climax, combined with natural athletic ability. He's one of the smartest workers in the world and can get pops for the most basic moves.
He reminds me of Hitman in that he's all about tell a story by pulling simple moves out of any situation and executing them perfectly and being in control the entire match (and creating big match feel drama in the moments when he's not in control).
He has IT
Roman was pushed as hard as Okada, and everyone hated him lol
>Shit finisher
I used to believe this too, but the strongest point of the Rainmaker is that is easy to counter so the storytelling potential is huge. Also is unprotected enough to not kill everyone at the first hit but protected enough to be believable as a finisher.
Same with Cena and Mysterio, that's what happens when you push a wrestler that is not credible in the eyes of most people.
Cena was loved from 2003 to 2004, but his 2005 push was way too hard in my opinion. 2006 was just cool to hate Cena and side with Edge and RVD. Then it was just boring Super Cena.
americans still don’t know who tanahashi is
Ok but Omega vs Okada 1 put more international eyes on the product then ever before
>Seth Rollins
Kek
Ultimo Dragon is his adoptive father
That's CIMA tho
He's an absolute top 5 of all time master of pacing his matches.
His ring psychology and charisma make up for his lack of athleticism. Every Okada match feels important, no matter who he's facing you always get the sense that you're watching a top guy at work. When he gets good opponents they can tear the house down, when he gets absolute shitters he can carry them to a decent match.
Sure. It probably did. And Okada was already a superstar before those extra 200 English speaking teenagers pirated that stream.
Actually Lesnar is probably responsible for putting more international eyes on NJPW than before.
Kurt Angle was probably one of the best of all time the fuck are you talking about?
was okada the only one in this pic who made it?
>household name
Outside of weeb fags and people in Jaypan no one knows him
What a chad
By you not having a fucntioning brain and thinking for yourself but instead regurgitating other people's opinion
>his lack of athleticism
Worked by his wrestling style. Okada is an insane athlete.
I love a good hivemind.
To be fair, Seth isn't allowed to have anywhere near the kind of matches Okada is.
He's proof that you can still be GOAT tier without being a moves guy. He does almost nothing that any other wrestler couldn't do (except his stunning dropkick) but his timing and pacing are so good. The booking obviously helps because everything he does is over now but I don't know if there has ever been a better finish guy.
That's somewhat true but I can't picture Seth being even close to Okada even without the wwe style handcuffs. It's much more than moves, it's hard to explain. Maybe it's booking. Okada was booked so good and he backs up so well that he feels like the final villain/hero depending on the situation. Seth feels like a guy that is good at fake fighting and nothing else.
By not being a manlet
I agree with you. Even without the MASSIVE booking and agenting handicap between the two of them, Okada's way better. But the handicap is still there. A guy that has actually managed to work around that handicap and still turn in absolute gold, though?
Bryan. That's why he's probably the only one in the company who's even close to Okada's level.
the only household here is that misplaced mop on that head
Yeah Bryan is in that category. His style and injuries don't allow him to be half of what he was and he's still the best worker in WWE. He made Kofi look like a main eventer, something nobody else has done since.
Absolutely. Seth "I sell my knee when I remember" Rollins has never had a match like Bryan vs Brock
Yeah if I only ever watched WWE matches I might agree with this.
I don't though so there are at least 50 wrestlers I would place above Angle.
Name them, fagget.
why so you can just ignore them and call me a dumb faggot and say cringe? im clearly not going to change your mind
I won't reply with cringe. Genuinely curious since you also badmouthed Okada and the others in your post.
literally unironically autism. the difference is instead of his parents giving him spaghettios and video games, Gedo forced him to learn psychology and act charismatic.
Good is just a chump booker. Ultimo Dragon trained him, you mark.
I wasn't trying to badmouth Okada, I just meant, he's good, but a lot of guys are capable of looking that good if they worked the same style and had the office behind them.
Here's some guys who are better than Angle off the top of my head.
Daisuke Ikeda
The Destroyer
Billy Robinson
Bryan Danielson
Bob Backlund
Yoshiaki Fujiwara
Koji Kanemoto
Minoru Tanaka
Atsushi Aoki
Volk Han
idk I mean I'm just saying random syllables if you don't know the body of work of the guys i'm mentioning so...
Angle was better than a lot of guys but most of his matches are literally just random suplexes which don't help tell a story and aren't even really used often as comeback devices or anything else important, so he's just kind of doing spots for pops which is a total indy shitter way of having a wrestling match. then he does a long ass finishing stretch where he counters everything into a toehold no matter how awkward or unrealistic the transition is, during which he lets the opponent walk to the ropes for some reason, then the next time he lets them walk almost to the ropes then drags them back into the middle of the ring and actually isolates their leg properly (why didn't he just do that the first time lol). He wasn't really a bad wrestler, he just kind of wasn't a very good one, although he was still better than most WWE guys to be fair
holy FUCK what a pretentious shitbag you are
Yeah well this is only gonna re-enforce your opinion, but someone has to curate art. Someone has to be the guy who judges who is the best chef, the best artist, etc. Obviously it's subjective, but that doesn't stop people from trying. And I didn't set out trying to do that actually, but if you watch enough theatre or film or listen to enough music then after several decades of burying your head in it, you're going to be more pretentious than other people whether you want to be or not. It's just natural. If you loved pro wrestling as much as I did for as long as I did, you'd be this pretentious too, and if you loved music as much as Anthony Fantano then you'd be as pretentious as he is about music.
You're not wrong. I'm not trying to be Mr Big brain. I just like wrestling a lot. I used to spend hours arguing with other retards like me about the merits of guys that were overlooked like Dave Batista and Ken Kennedy, etc, guys who were trashed constantly by people who just couldn't see how talented they were. I don't do that anymore, and I don't trade rare tapes of hard to find japanese indy shows or ancient black and white films, now I just watch the wrestling I like and shitpost sometimes. But I'm not a bad person for just liking pro wrestling a lot or for knowing a lot about it, I don't post here to make myself feel smart, it actually makes me feel stupid to know this much about pro wrestling, it's hardly a badge of honor in real life. but idc. pro wrestling is fun so fuck you if you have a problem with people enjoying things
It's the other way around, actually.
At putting me to sleep? Idk but hes the best at it.
No, I like all of them. I was always a huge fan of Daisuke Ikeda simply because of his love for Berserk but... he's not as good as Kurt Angle, get real. Good wrestler but you're underestimating Angle, he was a true athlete and had amazing intensity.
And I feel the same about a lot of the guys on that list, I like Aoki, he used to be REALLY good but even then, not as good as Angle. Tanaka though, that guy was and still is incredible at nearly 50 years old the guy looks and moves like a 30 year old, not sure if I rate him better than Angle but they're around that same level of greatness. Fujiwara is a legend but... I don't know, I like his style and everything but I don't actually find his matches that. amazing, he's just really damn good but same can be said about angle. Danielson was amazing but his work as Daniel Bryan in WWE isn't half as good and he only got worse with him.
I don't know how you can rate those guys so much and have a problem with Angle and his really damn good looking suplexes...
>so he's just kind of doing spots for pops
You could say this about Eddie, but not about Angle.
One thing about Angle is that you talk about his WWE days but he had incredible matches in TNA too and those are really underrated because loltna.
>guys that were overlooked like Dave Batista and Ken Kennedy
Yikes
one word
LARIATOOOOOOOOOOOO
Working with Tanahashi at start and took off from them
I watched a few of his matches, good wrestler in the ring, weebs overrate him. Similar story with Kenny Omega when he was in NJPW but now they say he wasn't that good after he hurt their feelings when he left the company.
Most wrestling opinions are biased (even mine) so take everything with a tub of salt.
