What went wrong

They just did their best Korakuen number in years. Try again nujapanlet.

The company deluded themselves into thinking they would keep growing bigger than their strong start. Instead of pushing their second generation guys they kept putting the belt on old guys past their primes as attendance kept going down and then the third generation didn't produce a second Messiah and they had to push their second generation that they'd buried in the mid card for 10 years, or brought up from juniors-sent back to juniors-brought back to heavyweight and expected the crowd to buy into it. Also, they handled the whole Kobashi cancer thing very poorly and the yakuza shit lost them the tv deal which crippled them worse than you could imagine.

Their top stars died or retired

The entire NOAH aesthetic is far superior to NJPW. The graphic design, the jade ring, the music, everything. I wonder why NJPW has such an outdated look to it.

Attendance figures are still in an overall decline which is embarrassing for a promotion that once drew at the level of New Japan.

This didn't help

They tried to push Marufuji and KENTA as top guys and numbers tanked. The promotion was doomed from the start, desu. It was all very poorly planned I think.

It's been on the rise for the past two years, bud.

Wrestling in Japan is becoming a little more culturally important again. NOAH is doing better because it feels like everyone is.
