Says you. Learning a language is never a waste. If you have an interest, any interest, and want to nurture it, it's never a waste. You are allowed to just enjoy JP games and not any other JP media (although unlikely) and if that's your jam there's nothing wrong with learning Japanese for it.
Personally I live in Japan and I have plenty of other uses for Japanese every day so it doesn't apply to me, but telling others not to do it is just dumb and reeks of eternal dekinai crab bucket mentality.
If you are learning Japanese to play videogames, you must post in this thread
I read Hanahira and I have enjoyed it
i nearly have given up because im stuck between knowing too little to understand anything i try to read and despising studying grammar guides and anki vocab decks and wanting to read instead
i dont know what to do, not knowing anything is so frustrating but i hate anki so so much
>He doesn't find intellectual stimulation in learning for the sake of learning
Go home brainlet
Im learning it to read raws of dropped manga
im going to fuck your jp gf nerd
I let my cards go for too long now I can't get back into it. I mean, I only have like 100 unseen cards but still.
Just read, ignore grammar guides and anki decks.
Grab yomichan, start reading.
You don't know something, look it up.
For grammar use bunpro.jp
If it takes you longer than 20 seconds to understand a sentence (while looking it up in the links above) then move on to the next sentence.
You need to cast a wide enough net so the simplest thing you CAN understand will stick, getting stuck on stuff that is confusing or isn't immediately obvious (even after looking it up) is just counterproductive.
Learn to embrace the ambiguity and just fill in the gaps from context and intuition. Don't take language study as some kind of routine you need to follow zealously, literally just do things you enjoy and learn to be flexible.
That's all you need to do. Everything else is just extras you don't need to bother with.
dekinai. its like trying to learn russian well enough to read brothers karamazov fluently in native russian prose. absolute madness
> Learning a useless language to play coomer games.
