Name ONE flaw about this game. I’ll go first;
>spirit ashes trivialize bosses, but since they don’t raise boss HP you really have no reason not to use them
Prove you’re not a braindead from drone
magic fucking sucks, I have like 30 spells and the very best spell, the only usable spell i have is the one you get at the start of the fucking game when you make a character. really lame to make my build around int. also I know there's some kind of super op laser thing but I don't plan on using that
>Side quests don't tell you where to go and require exploring until a character appears at an arbitrary place
>Exploring too much can end the side quest early
they took woman out of the message system, but didn't even add a lore friendly version instead like maiden or type b
The open world aspect of the game is the worst part of the game.
Miss the fucking shit out of not being able to fast travel immediately and having a world designed around that fact. I feel the game could have done something different and not have fast travel in an open world game
also thought that the fact that you can just teleport to grace sites from (almost) anywhere to be a bit of a cop out
Like yea you get that unlimited “return to bonfire” thing in DS3 but that’s not until late game iirc
>since they don’t raise boss HP you really have no reason not to use them
It's actually the opposite. They balanced them around spirit ashes and thats why bosses have so many AOE attacks and bloated healthbars. Sounds like whining just because other people didn't take the option to make the game harder without them.
>Crafting is a complete joke and most people just buy as much as they can from vendors while trying to avoid crafting as much as possible.
The quests are cryptic as shit, there should definitely be a quest log or journal or something
I felt the same way at first, but eventually I hit Farum azula and I was still using the stupid pebble so I was like fuck it, started using the kamehamaha (comet azure) and it was fun to if nothing else switch things up
Meh, that’s always been the shtick of soulsborne questing. I think adding NPC locations was a huge change and fair compromise between the OG style and trying to adapt it to the open world
>Prove you're not a braindead from drone
>Prove you're not a FFXIV cultist
>"RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAGH THIS GAME IS TOO POPULAR!!!!!!! I MUST SEE IT BE CRITICISED OR ELSE I CAN'T SLEEP!
Is it just me or is this pathetic as fuck?
btw I played both games and they're far from perfect but now I'm just going to start saying they are, so that it drives OP fucking mental
I think it was fine for Souls but Elden Ring has like 3x as many quests. There are so many fucking NPCs and you can only realistically complete like 3 of the quests without using a guide.
That’s some low hanging fruit. You even play the game?
>Affinities don’t matter
you can add a magic based skill to a weapon and force it to deal all physical damage and scale with str or dex instead
>too many abilities tied to one attribute
The game is riddled with spells and abilities that all tie into one attribute. For example faith has ALL incantations tied to it regardless of spell type. Beast spells, blood spells, fire spells, and dragon spells all allowing for the most bastardized build sets possible.
There are no specialities anymore.
>EAC is massive cope
Not only does easy anti cheat cause massive performance issues such as constant disconnects from multiplayer and ctds, it was also implemented only because Fromsoftwares code monkeys leave gaping holes that can be exploited to the extremes
who are you replying to
Every flaw boils down to this
>miyazaki and the players wanted different things from the game
Elden Ring is unironically the perfect example of "it's a good game, but not a good X game"
Nobody you massive fucking retard. Holy shit
>The game is riddled with spells and abilities that all tie into one attribute
The original games only had 2 types of magic; sorcery and miracles. One tied to int and one tied to fth. Pyromancy didn’t even require any skill investment
>there’s only TWO schools of magic
>but wait there’s a third; pyromancy!!
Instantly outed yourself as having absolutely no fucking clue
Worst quest design I have ever seen. For how good the game it is really standout.
What I’m saying is that the spells of elden ring are more varied than ever, but at bare minimum they’re tied into the same amount of stats as every other game, I’m not sure what exactly your issue is with this aspect
It's just Dark $ouls 4
They didnt add fishing
guys I'm scared
>Spirit ashes are an inconsistent feature with terrible planning on when they can be used. Ultimately making it so you are unable to truly play through the entire game with a funky no damage/ash only build.
>Not to mention the shit balance where most ashes are terrible and mimic tear is 2 tiers above the next best thing.
>There is no legitimate way to enter the capital without slaying anyone.
>Boss fights are the worst Fromsoft has ever made from a gameplay perspective. They zone constantly and have 10x the reach range as fucking archers and mages.
>Their npc quest design is a parody of what it once was. Throwing away characters just for the sake of le tragedy. See Sir Gideon as a prime example.
>The great runes suck ass for the most part.
>The letter scaling is convoluted this time around where S for one weapon isn't as good as S for another weapon.
>Constant recycling of assets and pointless +25 levels of weapon upgrades.
>Terrible use of passive buffs to weapons and instead force gimmick weapon ashes to unique weapons instead of making them flexible and putting shit in the passive effects slots they fucking added to the ui.
>Every boss has a phase 2 making it boring as fuck
>The endings suck shit
>Again constantly recycling assets and 'bosses' to the point where one could assume it was originally designed to be a fucking mmo
>Shit remembrance duplication system
>Vigor checks
>Terrible equipment load where you'll always be med load.
>Tons of weak to completely shit talismans
Overall I give it a 7/10, only slightly better than DS3 the 'remember DS1' game.
Worst open world music ever released in a game.
>let me clarify
Already found out you’re full of shit, no need
>no way to enter capital without fighting
That bothers me too. I looked all up and down that fuckin wall looking for an alternate entrance because “the two fingers won’t deny your entry” but the fucking boss outside says otherwise.
You will never be a type B.
K bru
>look up an achievement guide
>still didn’t 100%
user maybe it’s time to uninstall the game and proceed to lurking
To follow up with I actually quite liked Elden Ring but holy fuck it reminded me of dark souls 2. Where they made so many cool additions and at the same time fucked so many things up that were fine. The post is only a rant given the context of the OP. Plus I'm still assmad at how then ended Gideon's questline.
My first playthrough I got in through Fia's questline so I only know of the normal way in and that one.
Doesn't have a more intuitive combat system
Nigga I ain’t replaying this shit 2 more times to get the other 2 ending achievements just for a platinum trophy nobody’s ever gonna see lmao
>no real indicators for what the appropriate RL should be for particular areas, leaving player with no clear way of telling if they're over-leveling to the point of trivializing encounters
>map system revolves around unlocking big chunks of it via the map obelisks. meaning that attempting to find unexplored areas/sites can usually only be done by going towards empty parts of the map (which might also just be empty)
>lack of any real consequences in terms of NPC quests or endings, as far as I can tell you can shoot for pretty much all of the endings though only choose one. I get why some people might not want this, especially with such a lengthy game as this one, but it really kills a lot of the replay value for me when you can experience almost everyone's questline without any consequence. Volcano Manor stands out the most for me, I thought it would become an alternative roundtable at first with the amount of shit they were talking about overthrowing the Erdtree, though this might also be cut content. Same goes for character leveling, which I could understand if it meant PvP/co-op we're better but...
>multiplayer in this game is probably the most gimped out of all the souls games, rewards are awful, especially if you were stingy with using rune arcs like me, same with co-op too. I'm not saying covenants were a perfect system but they at least gave you something to work towards.
>world seemingly designed to be explored once and fast-traveled to all other times, I'm sure there's a better way of wording this but it doesn't feel as interconnected as DS1, it feels less like a world and more like a bunch of shit and some proper dungeons strewn about a nice screenshottable sandbox (though that might just be an open-world thing, I don't play alot of them).
TL;DR It feels alot like DS3 but in an open world in all the wrong ways.
>nigga
>without the hard r
Yikes and cringepilled
invading is dogshit
>hmm i think i will invade for an hour
>have to warp all around to find invasions
>invade a pasword summon world with guys 10x my level
>invade a world where the host is already walking through boss fog
>invade a world where i dont actually warp into a world because its a connection error
>invade a world where i just run in place after spawning in and i see the host and his friend attacking 20 feet away and i die 20 seconds later
>warp into a world where im no where near the host and phantom finger refuses to put me close to them
>invade a world where 2 hunters show up before i even get to finish my obligatory run to the host
>invade a world thats actually just the host hiding in an unreachable spot
>invade a world where i get to actually just do combat for once
>ends in me getting minced by katanas and bleed while some guy throws spells at me in the back or whatever
>promptly get teabagged
>invade a world where its just a guy and his summon
>takes forever because of flasks and no L2 to awesome game enders
>finally win
>607 runes
sick
same time tomorrow night i guess
Input lag
>>Exploring too much can end the side quest early
Name 1 scenario were that happens.
Honestly I felt this way with incantations. I'm still salty we never got any weapon incantations like the spells get. You guys have the Carian and Glintstone blade spells and a giant magic hammer spell. I really wanted incantations that are like the ones Morgott uses. But alas we got lighting and red lighting. That's it
>it's a good game, but not a good X game
Most bullshit yes but actually no answer fags ever came up with and it all just boils down to cope.
>Melania.
>Second half of the game feels like a weird spike in difficulty.
>The game sort of demands that your raise your stats as opposed to your equipment, meaning that SL 1 or low SL runs are kind of also no hit runts.
There are probably more that I can't think of, but this is still one of the best souls games in my opinion.
I'm not sure how it used to be but I managed to finish all the quests post game. Maybe there are some you can't complete in post game but I know I got most of them
I've played and finished the game a few times now. What even are the great runes? You can equip them, but what do they do?
Rogier and Roderika (granted you don't miss out on rewards but you do miss a lot of dialogue)
Hyetta before they patched it
Volcano Manor
Seluvis
Nothing, assuming you don't activate them at the big towers of remembrance that are typically found near a shardbearer's area. Then they'll give you something like extra HP, more stats, some HP for killing enemies, etc. Assuming you use a rune arc activated whilst they're equipped.
The boyfeet aren't as cute as the girlfeet.
All great runes say what they do. That said, you need to empower the great runes first by going to the appropriate divine tower, then use a rune arc to receive their effects. The only great rune that doesn't require equipping and using a rune arc is Renalla's iirc.
-Second half has the worst content FROM has ever come up with since Ds2, mountain tops, consecrated snowfield and haligtree are all absolutely terrible balanced areas that feel more like filler than actual areas.
-Most evergaols and "dungeons" have just regular enemies with a boss healthbar and most of the time the fight is over before you can read their names.
-Combat feels dated, no need to elaborate.
Going to Altus early cuts off some character questlines.
So yes, From did indeed give the player a way to get to Altus at Level 1 only to make the skip completely pointless because doing so essentially bricks your save unless you do some dumb busywork every single time.
The obvious example of this is that Blackguard will never open his shop if Rya moves, despite both characters being easily missable on account of them being in a gigantic flat plane. From decided that this specific NPC that sells unique items just...didn't need any kind of failsafe! Just don't bother putting in a secondary way of progressing his relationship with the player! lol!!!!!
What's funny is that some sidequests like Ranni's seem really fleshed out and straightforward by Fromsoftware standards. You don't automatically fail it if you don't meet Blaidd or Ranni at the first spot that you can. You don't fail if Blaidd dies in the fights where you summon him. There are multiple other characters involved that all give hints and instructions of where to go. There's a clear end goal you're working towards with multiple unique rewards and bosses along the way, etc. etc.
But then there are other quests like Sellen's where she straight up gives you a city's name to explore to look for someone, while the actual place you're supposed to go is through a tunnel on the side of a mountain outside the city. And it's all hidden behind an illusionary wall that you'd have no reason to ever check. It's batshit.
Invasion zones are laughably bad this time around
In caria manor you can be on top of the chapel and have invaders join but are actually impossible to reach because you’re technically behind a boss gate. Mohgwyn palace is the same way because you can jump up to the cliffs with your horse and then be invaded and nobody can reach you.
Liurnia is fucking riddled with shitty spots like this all over the town and academy.
I'll have you know I never once used a rune arc.
>Bows can use Ashes
>Crossbows can't
>You don't even get the significantly more useful tackle from DS3 and get the fucking joke Kick
But wait, Crossbows can be used offhand!
>Equip Bloodhound Step main weapon
>Try to test it
>Now shoots my slot 2 Bolt with the button
>15 significant areas in the game
>you don't like 4 of them
>this is "the second half"
Where do people pull this shit from? I've heard people say they don't like "the other half" and it's literally not half, it's an objectively wrong statement. Fucking baffling
Milenia healing from hitting your shield is fucking retarded and forces you to unlearn all the muscle memory of blocking. Really cool boss with a lame mechanic that spikes the difficulty of the game.
I don't blame you, the game does a shit job explaining what the towers actually do. They actively block you from entering until AFTER you've acquired them.
The open world is fucking dogshit and you are essentially punished for going out of the specific order that fromsoft designed by making the areas you skipped incredibly easy
Character questlines can abruptly end for no fucking reason because you explored too much
The 2nd half of the game is pure dogshit
95% of bosses without remembrances are dogshit
Your character still feels like an old geriatric when you see the shit bosses are doing and then compare it to yourself
Seriously what the fuck is wrong with fromsoft, the only time I ever felt strong in this game was when i was fighting rykard
Game gets like a 7/10, 9 for liurna+limgrave and 5 for everything after
>until AFTER you've acquired them.
*The Great Runes, I mean
You can't defend the cut content that was added back to the game as a patch, for real, that's a early acess bullshit, its the new low for Fromsoft
But.... Still a sollid 8/10.
Malenia healing at all is an ass pull. She’s supposed to be rotting it’s counter intuitive.
The rally system being in the form of a rune is also laughable. It’s also incredibly nerfed compared to bloodbornes rally
Malenia actually eats shit from greatshield poke spam. Being constantly in her face actually breaks her fight. Granted you probably need to be running a bleed thrusting weapon, but in any case she actually can't handle the constant attacks especially with a summon like Ogha backing you up.
Respecced to a Fingerprint & Mohgwyn Spear and I expected a marginally easier fight, instead I ripped her to shreads on my first attempt. Absolute fromage.
