Just started playing pic related and I have no fucking idea what I'm doing. I'm a few hours into the game and just unlocked a few extra jobs (currently playing monk + red mage) but I'm not even sure how affinities or skills/combo even work. I just mash shit and stuff dies but I'm sure I'm not doing things properly.
There's so much gear to sort through and I don't know what is good or not and I can't be arsed looking at every single stat upgrade/boost on each piece of item (considering every single enemy drops like 20 of them), so I just hit the auto-equip button.
What is a reasonable auto-dismantle filter option?
How do I even change the job of my party members?
Any tips I should look out for?

i just used autoequip for gear and had no idea what i'm doing combat wise.
might have been that the party member jobs were unlocked once you progress in the story

You unlock new party members as the story progresses. I just had to manually select every piece of gear below a certain level because just filtering by rarity still left me with a bunch of underlevelled stuff I didn't want.

You'll get items that let you change your party members' jobs as you progress. Affinity gives you passive bonuses the higher the percentage you have, with the bonuses getting better with each tier of affinity you reach. Skills can be equipped to specific combos (a list of which for your current weapon is always available at the battle settings screen), so that you can chain into them from specific attack strings. You also get command abilities which can be mapped to the D-pad along with Lightbringer, independent of class. The job tree also includes some passive upgrades for specific combos, so it pays to learn what your combos will do. In terms of general tips, learn to abuse the swap mechanic - swap to your second job if your break gauge is low, or to remove recovery time between combos (you'll see a green flash if you did this correctly). Also take the time to complete all available weapon tutorials, you might learn something.

I NEED CHAOS

I literally only heard if this a few days ago. What is it exactly, and is it worth playing?

It's like a prequel to FF1 where you kill Chaos but as Jack with his bros

do you have an example of it being a tranny game (I’m thinking about playing it and I need to know if I need to drop it)

Kill the 3 master tonberries side mission is giving me conniptions.

There's multiple kill the master tonberries missions.

It's worth playing if you're tolerant of poor performance.

Yea Forums shilling campaign failed again, this game is a flop.

Interesting
I'm more about gameplay and numbers in rpgs than plot, so would I be alright?

Yeah, the gameplay's the highlight, or the combat is at least, it's a great implementation of the job system into real-time combat. The main weakness of the gameplay is that the loot system is pretty poor in myopinion, but if good combat is enough to interest you then it's well worth playing, and even with the loot system being poor there's plenty of ways to build Jack so that's fun too.

I do enjoy job system shenanigans. I think I will look into it, thanks user

Jack literally interrupts every attempt at exposition so you're good

Bro this isn't an XIV thread.

I will become chaos

They added auto dismantle in the latest update.

Dont bother. Strangers uses the shitty ffxiv reimaginings of ff1 jobs

They’re not all FF1 jobs.

Alright nvm, I oonga boonga'd it with fully charged Orbital collisions, axes are just insane.

How is the soundtrack so good, bros?

It’s not

I actually did not expect the lore in this stupid game to be so deep
and I'm only a few missions in, just started today

How is this deep?

It's pretty deep

Getting a lot of dark souls vibes so far

You're also using control scheme A which makes the buttons line up with the Dark Souls style. I personally prefer control scheme B but I've also dumped many hundred hours into Nioh

I didn't even know there was a different control scheme, it took me a while to get used to this one and it kinda annoys me that I can't dash with BOTH dodge and left stick press but whatever

Why are you using the Japanese text?

Because I don't like playing games in a translated language and if I can understand the original language I'd rather play them that way

You may not like it but this is what peak female performance looks like.

You’re missing out on Jack and Astos’ performances though.

But he gets to hear Kenjiro Tsuda be ANGERY
I'm considering doing Chaos difficulty in Japanese just to hear how Tsuda plays Jack

I saw it through… No regrets…

yeah I gotta say the "bullshit" line was much better in English from what I've seen in trailers. In Japanese it's more like a bored "nonsense", it's not as out of the blue aggressive

I know, but Mocean Melvin really fits Jack a lot better in my opinion, and he really grew on me throughout the game.

I absolutely agree. The flashback scenes and the final boss being my favourite bits of his performance. And even then, the flashbacks wouldn't work as well as they do if not for his great performance during every other moment. Hell, even the in-level banter while initially just kinda cheeky and fun gradually becomes very endearing and you really feel for Jack and his crew

Dragon Mail best mail

I was more emotional about these fuckers than the last few (non-MMO) main series parties. The last party I gave a shit about was X's.

GARLAND ARMOUR WHEN

Attached: Garland.png (1920x1080, 3.21M)

these are all the outfit models... maybe one or two missing...

i'm hoping the DLC will adjust the difficulty and gear grind

I see big axes and swords, how well do these play? I'm a sucker for heavy weapons with charge attacks

They have charge attacks
They feel really good to use
You will kill things really fast with them

Axe is all about all your attacks being able to be charged up for big dick damage.
Greatsword is the starting weapon, and you can cancel out of the charging animation by blocking, and it parries anything you get hit by.

Definitely trying out the demo tomorrow then. Thanks for the info
