Just started playing pic related and I have no fucking idea what I'm doing. I'm a few hours into the game and just unlocked a few extra jobs (currently playing monk + red mage) but I'm not even sure how affinities or skills/combo even work. I just mash shit and stuff dies but I'm sure I'm not doing things properly.
There's so much gear to sort through and I don't know what is good or not and I can't be arsed looking at every single stat upgrade/boost on each piece of item (considering every single enemy drops like 20 of them), so I just hit the auto-equip button.
What is a reasonable auto-dismantle filter option?
How do I even change the job of my party members?
Any tips I should look out for?

i just used autoequip for gear and had no idea what i'm doing combat wise.
might have been that the party member jobs were unlocked once you progress in the story

You unlock new party members as the story progresses. I just had to manually select every piece of gear below a certain level because just filtering by rarity still left me with a bunch of underlevelled stuff I didn't want.

You'll get items that let you change your party members' jobs as you progress. Affinity gives you passive bonuses the higher the percentage you have, with the bonuses getting better with each tier of affinity you reach. Skills can be equipped to specific combos (a list of which for your current weapon is always available at the battle settings screen), so that you can chain into them from specific attack strings. You also get command abilities which can be mapped to the D-pad along with Lightbringer, independent of class. The job tree also includes some passive upgrades for specific combos, so it pays to learn what your combos will do. In terms of general tips, learn to abuse the swap mechanic - swap to your second job if your break gauge is low, or to remove recovery time between combos (you'll see a green flash if you did this correctly). Also take the time to complete all available weapon tutorials, you might learn something.

I NEED CHAOS

I literally only heard if this a few days ago. What is it exactly, and is it worth playing?

It's like a prequel to FF1 where you kill Chaos but as Jack with his bros
