Hori Switch Split Pad Pro is mandatory to use the Switch in handheld mode. The joycons haven't been attached to my switch since I bought it. It's either docked, or the Hori controls are on.

You could get a gooseneck tablet holder so you can lay down and play vidya with your arms limp on your side each holding a joycon, the apex of gaming laziness.
That and pro controller, plus maybe a stand for when you play with friends on the go, is all you really need.
A flipgrip is handy if you wanna emulate DS games.

Other than the obvious BotW, Xenoblade, SMT etc, give Triangle Strategy a chance, absolutely kino RPG. Also, Splatoon 3 is likely releasing this summer. Gunvolt is pretty great too.

They're stupidly big, but feel light and cheaply made, and have no hd rumble or gyro. Some people swear by them but they're just about the least comfy thing you could possibly do to your Switch in my experience.

I'm trying to find motivation to return to Animal Crossing. Its mostly furniture gacha. Plus I'm out of ideas on where to move stuff. I'm seriously thinking about restarting the island. Problem with that is I don't get turnips until 3 stars. I guess I can play other games until an idea hits me. Though DIY and furniture gacha is burning me out.

Weeds are a pretty good resource. Kinda sucks because I had more fun with New Leaf. It just feels like New Leaf had more to do despite being a smaller game. I could restructure the town but that requires bells. Which means mashing A for bulk crafting hot items or waiting for turnips. I should invest in a turbo controller. Any recommendations on first party Switch controllers besides Split Pad (I have the red Daemon X Machina one)? I play in TV mode more than handheld.

It runs pretty well at 30 FPS. Obviously the priority is making sure it works in handheld, and the originals ran on the 360 so it's less "miracle port" compared to Doom '16/Eternal or Wolfenstein 2.

The PS3 is 6 years old because that's when the PS4 was released, Switch is 5 years old nearing 6. In 2-3 years the Switch2 will be released but the Switch itself will still get ports of weird sports games for another 10 years, that doesn't count as an actual lifespan.

Got Phantom doctrine 2 days ago and TRIED to play it, Ive beaten xcom 2 and stuff and thought I would be okay and have fun playing this game. lmao nope I just quit because its just 1. impossible to see anything and it hurts the fuck out of my eyes
2. barely any tutorial at all to help me figure out the new and different things.
also people keep telling me I can 100% stealth when I come across like 3 rooms with unmoving npcs all facing eachother and I have no idea what to do in that situation to get the secret documents. yeah im way too stupid for this game.
