Normal action game >enemy winds up >enemy attacks >you can influence the enemies attack to your advantage, adding depth
Dark Souls 3 >enemy winds up >enemy feints for 5 seconds allowing you additional hits in >enemy attacks, no overly long combo chains that so you aren't just waiting for your "turn" to deal damage
Elden Ring >fight begins and the enemy is already spazzing out all over the arena >enemy can straight up animation cancel their attacks and just remove windups >enemy throws sword in the air >enemy catches sword in other hand >enemy spins sword around in a circle for a few seconds >enemy throws sword back to other hand >immediately cancels his attack into two more attacks like he's fucking bayonetta >instantly hits you with a random attack from his backside to punish you for rolling behind him so no more openings >throws a flurry of projectiles to punish you for rolling away >hits you with an AOE attack to punish you for rolling toward him >enemy jumps in the air for 50 more variations of an AoE, flipping in the air doing 360° noscopes, flails around like he just got a dose of heroin, does 10 different cartwheels in a row, and finally stops attacking for a rare move that has an opening >then proceeds to continue 10 different combos for 5 more moves >and all you can do against this while they act like shonen anime characters is just wait around dodge-rolling
What the fuck went wrong with Elden Ring? How did From Software fuck up this bad? How did we go from Sekiro to this shit?
normal action game: easy dark souls 3: slightly challenging Elden ring: challenging with a wide variety of tests of reaction speed, depth and complexity.
of course Yea Forums is still crying about the difficulty of souls games in 2022
consider one of these following games OP:
Assassins creed Far Cry 5 Horizon Forbidden West Any Spider-man game Agario
Nicholas Parker
you're correct, the (artificial) difficulty design of ER is trash. it isn't fun to roll 15 times before you're allowed to attack once.
simply play better action games. God Hand and Nioh 2 are my favorites.
Kevin Mitchell
What is going on here? Why can this guy cancel out of animations by dodging? Why can he dodge the last millisecond of attacks and they clip through him with no damage? Why is he not getting staggered? Why are his iframe windows so long?
If you learn the hitboxes you can attack during their combos instead of waiting for them to stop attacking entirely. Hope that helps :^)
Kayden Martinez
>you can attack during their combos With a Ultra Greatsword that leaves you entirely open?
Jonathan Perry
not possible for fast aggressive bosses such as in OP :) hope you enjoy licking miyazaki's cum off the floor. I beat every other souls game and this one's almost as big of a turd as ds2.
Anthony Perry
wow you discovered summons and magic are op? First from game?
Oliver Diaz
I thought you said the game was challenging
Nolan Ross
I just let Melina weaken him because I wanted to progress her quest and didn't give a fuck about another Margit fight. Genuinely surprised at how fucking annoying his moveset was. I have work and shit so it was nice beating him my second try that way, but I could tell immediately that this isn't the kind of boss I want to grind out for hours. Fuck him.
John Sanchez
>posting a webm of morgott cleaning your cock fair and square Margit/Morgott are the most well designed fights in ANY fromsoft game There are plenty of terrible bossfights with bullshit mechanics but Margit is not one of them
Ayden Ward
I watched Malenia do her fucking Sephiroth Tsubame Gaeshi Form 9 Final Judgement katana folded over 10 million times attack as my game stuttered, and when I went for the punish after her final sword flash surrounded her, she casually jumped away to avoid my attack.
That right there is when I knew this game was milky dog shit. Elden Ring is a massive downgrade compared to Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Sekiro. This game is From Software bending over and breaking their own spine to sniff their own asshole.
>not with greatswords >big slow ass weapon against a fast boss >has higher base damage than a katana >also has added poise break potential where other smaller weapons don't >can block more damage
Woooaaaah, you mean different weapon types have pros and cons? You mean there are trade offs to consider when it comes to your weapon selection vs a boss? Thats so unfair bro.
Adrian Davis
forgot to mention the camera spazzing out the entire time, and each attack is either a 1 or 2 shot if you don't have 60 VIG, also literally random windups, ground effects and projectiles
Ethan Sanders
People really think their making a point when they post videos of them losing to the games fair bosses lol. I feel like I've lost to margott maybe 3 times in 3 playthroughs
Jackson Fisher
>most well designed fights in ANY fromsoft game
>overly aggressive spastic tards in a game filled with uninteresting bosses you can't interact with outside of avoiding their attacks No, they are shit.
How exactly are you interacting with bosses in other souls games besides attacking and dodging?
Gavin Clark
Even then he still has that dogshit attack with the sword where he becomes a big, impossible to challenge hitbox and you have to run away while he's chasing you
Josiah Gonzalez
i played it with a straight sword and shield and had no trouble with any bosses tldr git gud
Angel Evans
malenia is the only boss in the game that is actually unfair/unreasonable and its all because of waterfowl dance
Thomas Long
Continue to complain about how hard you find mid tier bosses
Ayden Allen
wow jeez user can i get an autograph?
Jaxon Diaz
>Dark Souls 3 >>enemy winds up >>enemy feints for 5 seconds allowing you additional hits in DS3 bosses dont have feints.. or else name at least 2 or 3 that do this Compare Gael to morgot and you will see problems with ER. Its like they are trying to break fourth wall by introducing roll catching combos kek
Owen Hughes
OH LOOK IT'S ANOTHER DRAB BROWN GAME WHERE YOU HAVE A GIANT SWORD AND SOME ASIAN JAPANESE'S IDEA OF GOTHIC EUROPEAN ART MIXED WITH RETARDED MONSTERS, BUT THIS TIME IT SAYS "NEW" ON THE BOX!!!!!!!!! I'M CONSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Wyatt Cruz
liar
you delete every single boss in the game with bleed kats, which deal more damage, stun more and are faster than any colossal weapon.
Luis Collins
>can't interact with Jump over and punish his many lows, use something fast to poke, parry any of his non-golden moves, block, armor through, raptor of the mist to duck under his sweeps etc There is much more to this game than just rolling -> punishing
Austin Watson
Sorry that you are bad at video games
Nolan Howard
that move is a bit much i agree but it's also pretty much his only threat in phase 2 All his other phase 2 moves are slow as shit and leaves him exposed for years when he whiffs
Jacob Ortiz
You're bad player trying to cope. if you hate the idea of being challenged then how about you play skyrim instead. Or at least least use cheats built into game in form of ash summons, they were made for plebs like you.
Joshua Rivera
There are attacks you can jump attack over There are attacks you can crouch attack under There are attacks you can strafe to dodge instead of rolling, and then charge a strong attack Sounds like a skill issue
Gabriel Ross
I remember when Yea Forums complained about boss combos in ds3
Evan Ramirez
Sekiro has a posture mechanics and Bloodborne has trading hits with Rally and the ability to parry any attack even from non-humanoids.
Levi Edwards
>DS2 comes out >people complain about ds2 difficulty comparing it to ds1 >DS3 comes out >people complain about ds3 difficulty comparing it to 1 and 2, muh bloodborne enemies >ER comes out >people complain about ER difficulty comparing it to 1, 2, 3, muh bloodborne enemies and sekiro bosses The cycle continues blatant input reading is bad though
>Sekiro >Carian Retaliation on a 100% physical block shield Closet I can get to Sekiro, melee combat actually felt fun this playthrough.
Carson Scott
all of those are only problems if you try to play it like it's DS3, thinking that rolling towards the boss is always the best strategy it's been almost two months and shitters STILL can't wrap their heads around this
Liam Rogers
I don't know why people were pissy about Dark Souls 3 though. You can stagger enemies easily and the rolls are the fastest they've ever been. That one was an extremely weird case that I still don't understand today. I think 3 is perfect with its bosses where as ER is fucking bonkers and too ridiculous.
Jose Murphy
I got bored with timing attacks
Stack the heaviest armor and talismans, take endure on a giant weapon, do charge attacks. You can just tank all the hits.
Christopher Price
>blatant input reading is bad >when there's ridiculous camera, clipping, input buffering/delay/eating and balance issues.
Liam Lopez
>Panic rollers getting filtered again and again
Elijah Hughes
Dark souls 2 would increase FOV when fighting big bois. Why ER cant do the same
Nathan Sullivan
Elden ring has magic, effective shields, summons and weapon arts. Poise is still a mechanic, just unaffected by blocking. You can also unlock bloodborne style rallying later, though its not very good.
Camden White
>NOOOOO IT'S TOO HARD, MAKE IT EASY AGAIN PLEEEEEASE lol git gud
Jacob Ross
Every other soulsborne game puts me into sleep out of boredom after Elden Ring.
Jordan Wilson
>DS3 >No overly long combo What the fuck are you on about?
Nicholas Moore
it obviously is if you're using cheese tactics just to beat a boss
Adam King
just cheese it with the million ways the game gives you lmao
Xavier Butler
Name a boss from 3 that actually has that. Pontiff, Nameless King, and Gael will all give you openings after a few attacks. Yes they attack multiple times in a row, but they don't keep it up forever and they let the player breathe. I want to know which fucking boss you're thinking of.
Ryan Morgan
Normal action game >enemy winds up >enemy attacks >you can influence the enemies attack to your advantage, adding depth
Every garbage fromsoft game >enemy attacks >duck >attack
No greater gameplay complexity to be found in the dullest franchise in the history of video game franchises. Each episode following the armored warrior as he fights assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert. The Dark Souls series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the gameplay formula is good though *ducks then punches your face* "No!"
The games are dreadful; the combat is terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time a fight occured, the designers made you roll and attack to beat the enemy.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time a fight relied on rolling and attacking. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. FromSoftware's minds are so governed by mundane gameplay loops that they have no other style of game design. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Elden Ring. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Elden Ring at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read George R.R. Martin" And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play Soulsborne games you are, in fact, trained to read George R.R. Martin.
Jeremiah Walker
>can't interact with outside of avoiding their attacks these are the same uncreative schmucks who complain that Sekiro is nothing but a L1 simulator Experiment and adatt for once in your life, please
Thomas Murphy
But ER is just DaS3 2.0?
Kill yourself, OP
Colton Bailey
Elden ring exposed Yea Forums as the shitters they've always been.
Isaac Bennett
>normal action game >copy kamiya's dogshit juggle game >dodge until you land a hit and then do a billion combos to never let the cancer enemy recover
Jose Bell
>*ducks then punches your face* >"No!" Has the same energy as >I AM TEH PENGUIN OF DOOM >*holds up spork*
Charles Davis
Yeah the flurry attack is unpunishable. It's really the only boss that is legitimately unfair and stupid. If they are going to make her do that attack then at least let me punish her when I successfully dodged it Other than that I really like the boss What I hate about this WebM is that you clearly have a lot of openings. Morgott isn't even hard, just flashy. Besides the meme ds2 tier hitbox his hammer attack has its really fair. You only need to dodge to him instead of away from him in order to punish. Same with malenia
Hunter Fisher
>animefag >computer is shit >playing a console game on your pc at all
Why am I not suprised
Brayden Richardson
>I watched Malenia do her fucking Sephiroth Tsubame Gaeshi Form 9 Final Judgement katana folded over 10 million times attack as my game stuttered, and when I went for the punish after her final sword flash surrounded her, she casually jumped away to avoid my attack. And you can't even do anything about it. Garbage game design.
Noah Carter
Godskin Noble is also all kinds of fucky.
>rolls, stops on a dime and glitches back into thrusting attack, magically pops back into rolling mode >rolls off the side and teleports back up, nothing personnel kid
The disappointing part is that spastic undodgeable boss attacks turns every boss into "rush down their HP with bleed/frost and kill them before they kill you", which is extremely underwhelming and doesn't make for memorable fights.
Jack Butler
Fucking this. I could do all those bosses with an ultra greatsword without having to be restricted by spamming a single move because all of them had openings. ER ultra greatsword gameplay is poke and jump attack spam for 200 hours.
Hunter Gonzalez
maybe its a sign that making it more hard isn't making it more fun
Justin Young
You forgot to put >faggot cries like a little bitch under both Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring.
Gabriel Campbell
>I don't know why people were pissy about Dark Souls 3 though
Because shit like Outrider Knights was like a tiny sampler of what we'd see in Elden Ring.
Gabriel Murphy
lmao nice one
Matthew Evans
The tutorial boss 2nd time you fight him, Friede, Pontiff, Abyss Watchers, Dancer, Dragonslayer Armor, Oceiros, Nameless king, Soul of cinder. Now name 1 elden ring worse in this than those I just named.
Jonathan Lopez
And none of those can be intuited and have to be found by trial and error. Like in the mohg fight you can spell parry some area of effect attacks that last multiple seconds and the entire effect just vanishes like it's glitched. >but it's magic so of course.. Plenty of magic isn't parryable. The problem is it's arbitrary. It's so baffling that they also made Sekiro which is crystal clear about its mechanics. Not this artificial bullshit.
Jack Rodriguez
>ER comes out >people suddenly act like DS3 was good lmao
James Jones
It's a copypasta user
Cooper Murphy
That roll move is also quite annoying and sometimes seems to go on forever until you get hit. At least it doesn't one shot you.
Adam Reyes
>How did we go from Sekiro to this shit? We need the S team for next game
Jason Roberts
Someone had to have written it unironically at some point.
Xavier Perez
This shit right here is why Elden ring completely fucking smokes every other souls games. Every encounter has numerous ways for melee only players to fight them. It’s funny to see the soulsniggers whine that the combat FINALLY evolved beyond “roll at right time and that’s it lmao” >t. monster hunter fag
Austin Hughes
>DS1 and Bloodborne never comes out >everyone suddenly loves DS3 and thinks it's the best lmao even
