mimics stopped being a threat after the first one kills you in dark souls 1. after that point you just swing once at a chest or look at the chain by default. also these games have always been super easy if you want them to be easy. nigger.
game's so long with so many chests in dungeons that it'd be 10x as annoying to check every chest as with a soul game

Mimics are important in ER because fromshit is afraid of their cult fanbase lashing out at them. Mimics are a way to balance out the bad game design otherwise all the new players would shit on it. If the game was fixed there wouldn't be need for bleed builds or mimic. Fromdrones are their own worst enemy

good. the smoke trap is better because you have a chance to move away when you see the smoke
The teleport chests are a far better mechanic. They actually require that you actively pay attention to what is going on rather than mindlessly whack every chest you come across as a safety test, and they are potentially far more punishing if you allow yourself to fall victim to them.
