Did alien isolation kill the then-popular hide and seek horror genre by showing players who boring it is for extended periods of time?

Alien: Isolation doesn't want you to hide in lockers, but most people that play it are retarded

Who boring??

It killed it by giving the alien too good AI for a first outing, even if it is the Alien. It shattered the illusion of what these hide and seeks can be when you can see the AI scripting trigger in real time. AI is a tricky thing, clever AI you will be against for long durations is even trickier.

No, it's peaked around 1st amnesia and has been milked to death by the end of 2014 with steam being absolutely plastered with hide in the corner vidya. Isolation was at least 2 years late to the party

This.

The game was absolute kino, but broke the mold of the faggots who either played it like Cowadoody, or those hiding in places for minutes.
No other game managed to get the feeling of being hunted right as this one.

OP already exposed himself by calling it hide and seek.

I didn't like this game, j feel like it got boring pretty quick. Never felt like the Alien was that smart either, felt like any other hide and seek enemy, also by mid game you could pretty much always make the alien run away.

The sheer number of lockers available in almost every room you go to jumped out at me right away as being odd. Why would hiding spots be so prevalent everywhere, unless they were designed to be traps?

You're only need to sneak past the alien (or aliens) maybe 3 times the entire game. You shouldn't hide. You need to keep moving. Thats the trick of this game.

It was just too long
