Director literally thought he was hideo kojima. He wanted the game originally to actually make you fight for 7 hours, a battle royale mode, and a youtube animated series. He was delusional.
I was a programmer on the demo. I fought with him at every turn to try to correct his shitty decisions. The screen turning red with your heartbeat when you were hurt? I refused to add. Slowing down time? I refused to add, but was offered $60 to add it so eventually caved.
I tried to make the combat as good as I could. After I left, he brought someone else in to fuck up my work, making it horrible to play, who also wouldn't say no to him.
Final game, tons of the maps are from gmod, with their creators paid barely anything, if at all to use them. Other assets are stolen. Textures for child genitals were found in the game at launch. Fucking dumpster fire.

The fact that he's apparently qualified for a manager position in the industry, and that his track record is seen as acceptable, explains a lot about gaming these days desu.
I suspect that every major studio is staffed by retards like him, and the only reason games come out half decent is because developers fight back at every turn.
