what the fuck are you talking about? everyone acknowledges its flaws
why do think people have custom rulesets and modded games (with increasing calls for further adjustments to the games akin to freezing stadium, etc.)
Nathaniel Sanchez
Its flaws are what makes it good
David Bennett
>everyone acknowledges its flaws A more appropriate way of phrasing the OP would be "is flawed". Lots of people want to claim Melee is perfect despite its flaws, or because of its flaws , when actually, it is a deeply flawed game.
Ian Morris
no, it's not deeply flawed. deep implies some underlying problem when that is no what melee's flaws are. melee's flaws are buggy stages and interactions as well as unfinished characters (G&W)
Hudson Richardson
>don't want to admit it has flaws and that those bring the game down. everyone does >but they don't really want to see, or even think it's possible for, the game itself to improve. new shit is found out about the game even in current year > There's no direction and no sense of progress outside of the narrative within and surrounding the game that primarily concerns its playerbase. You're just retarded. You got my (you) so bait successful
Henry Jenkins
what did thie post even mean and what the fuck are you talking about
Dominic Hughes
>no, it's not deeply flawed. deep implies some underlying problem when that is no what melee's flaws are. You're demonstrating here the point of the OP. The only thing Melee fans can visualize are superficial improvements, and only in relatively simplistic terms---they are incapable of recognizing underlying problems and accepting that the game must have those issues rectified if it is to become its best self.
But again, the conversations now mostly revolve around how the community is "improving", while the game's quality is taken for granted.
Isaac Cooper
what are these underlying problems
Nathan Wood
Are you fucking kidding me? Some Meleefags have the audacity to claim that wobbling is an OK thing because the blame falls on the player who got caught. It's not. It's a gameplay oversight and they fucking defend it as a mechanic. Fuck Meleefags.
Luis Nguyen
>They want to see the game and the community thrive, but they don't really want to see, or even think it's possible for, the game itself to improve. Yes it actually isn't because it's a 19 years old Gamecube game you fucking retard, it can't be patched and Nintendo is never making another game like it again. "Acknowledge muh flags" has literally zero purposes in this case
Benjamin Sanchez
..That's how infinites work It's allowed because Ice Climbers are trash. Wobbling is all they have. Is that all you have? Your issue with Melee is that "some" players are okay with wobbling? And yes, it does fall on the player. He got hit.
You'd fucking kill yourself playing MvC2.
Logan Ramirez
Also, little zoomer retard, the entire META is "gameplay oversights" Wavedashing was a glitch. All the "tech' are glitches.
Stop posting.
Brody Young
I think one of the biggest issues is something Mango himself has recently implicitly acknowledged / admitted on a recent stream youtube.com/watch?v=BgmBCl0Jz3k Skip to 8:00 It's that it's impossible for Melee to ever be played at one's best, 100%, consistently or otherwise. You're always going to be underperforming to your potential. Why is that? Well it's due to a number of reasons, many of which are not widely considered flaws. My biggest thing is the control scheme. It's not only suboptimal but nonsensical on top of that. You have two face buttons dedicated to jumping, and two buttons dedicated to shielding. You have the special button basically the furthest away input-wise from either jump button: attack is closer, and grab and shield can be pressed at the very same time, making commands like jump-cancelled specials needlessly difficult to perform, to the point where many develop either risky controller handling-methods to mitigate it or crippling hand problems when they fail to wrangle the scheme to their needs. And what does the community do? Prohibit any control scheme changing mods from being tournament legal, as well as of course alternative controllers altogether, and refocus the conversation on maintaining Melee's "purity" and the "integrity" of the competition with respect toward older players' forced handicap of having grown up with no other option but to adapt.
This is just one example, though not small at all in its many implications, of how Melee is by no means a perfect game, and yet its fans twist and turn the concept and hem and haw about it like it's no big deal. It's counterproductive, because Melee could be a better game if these flaws were admitted and corrected, and a better game could mean a more respected community, and a faster growing one to as all the barriers to entry newcomers not blinded by nostalgia and stockholm syndrome rightfully recognize and are repulsed by.
user, these fucking morons dont know shit about fighting games. They dont know shit about anything and just shit on melee so they feel better about playing ultimate
Carter Harris
at least pick something that isn't a debatable balace issue, like G&W having leftover stats from being a mario copy
Angel Long
>it can't be patched It can be hacked and modded. And to be sure, it has been, but every single one that has gained traction took years to embed themselves into the tournament scene as a stamp of approval, and the number of such accepted mods remains incredibly small in comparison to the mountain of flaws both big and small you'll find within SSBM.
Aiden Bennett
>it's another smash thread shower
Joshua Johnson
So if tech is glitches, and glitches are underlying problems that supposedly make the game bad, then street fighter 2 is a piece of shit and so is every game with combos. Because combos werent intended and were a glitch
Hudson Collins
>T-they just don't understand the underlying mechanics! UM GATEKEEP GATEKEEP GATEKEEP!
Jack Baker
>They dont know shit about anything and just shit on melee so they feel better about playing ultimate Where have any new games been mentioned? You've become so triggered by their existence that *you've* become the one obsessed enough to bring them up out of context.
Henry Hall
did the smashbox get banned?
Bentley Rodriguez
no
Carter Phillips
I'm not complaining about the tech you fucking mong. I'm praising it and the depth it gives. You kids never touched Gunz.
Luke Hughes
It was banned for years and only recently allowed.
Michael Nguyen
>community is dying >should we be more open to new people? Should we allow different kinds of gameplay? >NO, let's act like faggots and insult anyone that disagrees with us
Jack Brown
this basically although the "dying" part is debateable
Josiah Rivera
How are ultimate players feeling that Smelee players are stealing half their $250k prize money cause they refuse to move on?
Jordan Wright
I’d rather my community die than open itself up to cancer like so many others.
Benjamin Fisher
lol the smelee community is cancer already, it's so bad it's eating itself.
