Well, Yea Forums?

Well, Yea Forums?

Personally I feel like they both have the same issues - bad story, awful camera and bullshit enemies like Diablos with it's bullshit hitboxes and undodgable 1HKO attacks and the unkillable armored cyclops with their unavoidable 1HKO grab attacks.

The difference is one has Jho and the other one doesn’t

How do you get one shot by a basic cyclops' grab attack?

No one has ever played MonHun for the story.

Is this a bait thread?

MH has better monster designs so it wins

True Charge Slash just isn't the same...

I don't know what a Jho is I uninstalled after the bullshit enemies.

Pickle monster. Arguably the best "i go anywhere and fuck shit up" pickle.

Basically, when the guy gets hungry, he literally ends ecosystems. And he is also incredibly dangerous... to the monster you're fighting if he shows up. Because he doesn't try fighting you. He wants the bigger target.

Bigger target = More meat.

I've never said it before so here's the first time: git gud

Lmao what? I just fought one of those fuckers and I’m still early as fuck into the game. It may have taken a while but I didn’t have as much of a problem with him like you did.

too bad it does shit damage outside of the early game

Sounds like you tried playing those two games, got your ass handed to you cuz ya bad and then made a shitty thread to complain about that fact.

But that's just my opinion

No it doesn't.

It has an interesting premise that comes in splurts. You spend most of the game chasing dwarves and escorting people across the map.

>literally endgame equipment vs non early and mid game enemies

Shut it down, he knows!

>bullshit enemies like Diablos with it's bullshit hitboxes and undodgable 1HKO attacks
world was my first mh and even i know that you're a shitter

I do and it's a damn shame. The worst part is that is scales awfully and with max strength it would only do about 30% more damage than with base str and a rusted greatsword

Honestly, I don't really see it. I myself play Warrior and I've always seen that Greatswords with Arc of Deliverance do an important chunk of damage, even if it isn't quite oneshot like we all want it to be.

Both games have the same premise. Wear down the monster. Just that MH has it different as it has no health bars, so you are constantly on your toes the whole time.
In Dragon's Dogma, you'll get greedy even if the monster is pretty much showing that it's on its last legs.

If enemy defense and skill attack weren’t additive, the game would be a lot smoother. Mystic Knight’s big spells are so useful they stay relevant when fighting mobs, but come lategame all that was dealing damage was Cannon and Anguish. It’s a shame.

The damage numbers got datamined a while back. IIRC Arc of Obliteration did something like 20k base damage but only had 100% scaling. Still a really fun skill to use though.

>20k base
>but 100% scaling across the charts
Fuck. But yeah, I fucking love the impact it has. Just wish that Warriors didn't have just swords and hammers. I wanted greataxes because personally those feel like they have the greatest 'oomph' on impact.

>MH
>story

The fuck even kind of comparison is this? Monster hunter is a game where you go around and fight monsters you then turn into clothes.
Dragon's Dogma is an action-rpg where you fight mostly humanoid enemies and from time to time get to fight a bigger one you can climb. Both are fantastic, but they have nothing in common unless you reduce them to the most boring comparison of "you hit big things in both of them with a sword".

You could probably mod that in if you could just simply change how damage and defense were calculated against each other, then just release it as an 'open source' mod so people can go in and do shit themselves.

OP is a faggot. Comparing DD and MH is like comparing CoD and Fable 3 because they both have guns. Totally different games built with totally different ideas and intentions.

Attached: tumblr_pkyn6sKZAr1y1qfjoo1_1280.jpg (669x653, 76K)

Yeah the damage formula is pretty damn dumb. The biggest flaw the game has IMO. Some of the MK skills remain relevant but in the late game most of your damage will be Cannon and anguish and/or parries.
It kinda depends on the game IMO. In some hammers havee more oomph and in some axes do. But if you like skills with big impact, I'd recommend trying out Great Sacrifice. It does however have the same scaling problem the Arc skills have but it will destroy anything outside of endgame enemies and dark resistant enemies.

I see. I never liked sacrifice skills though, especially on a class who's only option is blocking. Regardless, I'll try it out. Thanks for the tip.

Still, MK was by far my favorite to play.

imagine being such a shitter in these games where you pretty much turn into an unkillable wrecking ball in no time

Dragon's Dogma has 2 inches of letterbox on the top and bottom of the screen. I can't even wrap my brain around how fucking lazy the devs were, yet at the same time, knew their fanbase would be so fucking braindead that they'd actually find that to be acceptable. It truly is astounding how fucking retarded Dragon's Dipshit fans are. Just swallowing feces and enjoying every second of it.

I'm the lsitfag and even I can tell that Dragon's Dogma, albeit an OK game, is absolute fucking shallow dog shit compared to MHW.

That out of the way...

NEW flaw list (Iceborne version):

-heavily flawed base game (World)
-can max only two Guiding Lands areas; have to get mats you don't have access to via SOS quests you'll never find
-only a limited number of lobbies and SOS quests displayed and hundreds hidden for inexplicable reasons (sometimes can't even find an event SOS when AT Nergigante is live)
-overpowered, repetitive Clutch Claw ("wall banging"), basically start every quest with it
-still trying to get children addicted with the completely pointless HR1-999 system (younger players conflate it with skill)
-worst speedrun experience ever (if you see a speedrunner on Youtube, rest assured he is severely autistic) as all monsters but Elder Dragons now spawn in random zones, meaning resetting the quest dozens of times on top of the usual resetting
-if not under TA rules, you're forced to use turf wars and environmental traps if you want to keep up with speedruns: Turf war didn't trigger or missed a boulder because the AI went nuts? Restart your otherwise perfect run
-always having to find the monster first is annoying even outside of speedrunning
-tripled down on AoE spam (see new Bazel, Vaal, Namielle and even Savage Deviljho) instead of well-designed movesets
-unstable framerate, especially due to clutter and an overload of effects, yet they keep putting monsters in the cluttered forest
-unskippable cutscenes because they want you to see their "beautiful creation"
-spawning in random zones and preventing it is an asinine chore as you can fast-travel anyway (they probably kept it for the same reason you can't skip cutscenes)
-skeleton rehashing (very first big monster you fight, the flagship monster, the final monster of World and the final monster of Iceborne all rehash the same skeleton)

Attached: mhw.jpg (1920x1644, 545K)

-late PC release date and performance is pathetic for today's standards
-Nargacuga, Zinogre and assorted returning monsters slower than ever
-a lot of glitches
-rock spray instead of blood
-even less incentive to make element weapons because of all the multi-monster quests and Guiding Lands
-bad hitboxes and hit progression (animation barely started and already does 100% damage, or how Nergigante's tiny tail slam does as much damage as the spin itself)
-can't pause
-precise gameplay with GS is dead (few exceptions like Kirin), it's all about just getting your TCS out, which barely requires skill; experience, spacing, positioning, timing (just watch a Kulve or Vaal speedrun and compare it to a 140 Shagaru)
-most new monsters require no precision; just whack them like a pinata (Odogaron, Kulve, Vaal [EVERY hitzone is a weakspot]), a joke compared to old monsters like Ivory Lagiacrus or Diablos before they turned his whole head into a weakspot
-make any spot a weakspot with Clutch Claw and easily stunlock even monsters like Nargacuga
-palpable input delay
-cryptic menu inputs for simple things at some instances
-now that lock-on exists, monsters pouncing around the player (think of Nargacuga or Nergigante) seems pointless, however, more and more monsters do it and people who rather play without lock-on are either forced to play with a big disadvantage or a new camera setting they don't like
-one-player difficulty scaling arguably makes monsters too exploitable, the game too easy and cooparative gameplay redundant to good players
-ranged as retardedly overpowered as always for some reason
-crammed and visually busy while monsters clip through everything and can even shoot right through massive trees
-generic weapon skins

-Palicos constantly heal and even revive you
-automatically climb and slide everywhere because of slopes and other shit, imposing contextual and often impeding inputs on the player
-sabotaging automatic animations such as taking off used mantles when trying to quickly prevent a monster from fleeing with your crossbow
-some of the obejctiely worst monsters in the series, notably Zorah, Lunastra and AT Kushala (Alatreon and Rathalos have good aerial openings, this guy basically has none)
-items and item wheel unresponsive and clunky because of all the weird animations
-random MVP cards (feedback and knowing who did best is nice, but the execution is horrible and you have to do 70% damage to even even get the dps one)
-clunky menu navigation
-incassent invasions, even elder dragons you can't dung
-three monsters in one zone constantly roaring and pushing each other around
-no transmog
-way too much walking and long transition zones that make you miss loading screens
-can't see quests other people have posted when you have a quest pending already, even though MH3U just made it possible not too long ago
-way too many roars (semi-unavoidable ones whenever a monster flees), even gave Zinogre a roar when approaching him
-roars can glitch out (consecutive micro roars impossible to dodge and predict, annoying when speedrunning)
-instantly craft and pop Ancient Potions, which in theory nullifies difficulty
-increased stun values on monsters' attacks because having no control is the only way to die with how mobile the player is now

I got Monhun World on PC a week ago.
Keyboard and mouse controls for ranged were trash... until I rebound them to work as close to Dragon's Dogma's bow control scheme as possible.

Now I'm a fucking bowgod, watching casual bowniggers get carted every minute while I'm dodging jho headslams like a nigger dodges child support.

>bad story
MH used to not even have a story. The story got added in World because Capcom wanted to appeal to the western market.
Also the two games aren't even similar gameplay wise outside that they are both "hit big monsters", but with that logic Dark Souls could also be compared to MH.
Why not use a controller? Ranged weapons with a controller is honestly not that bad. Not like you are actually playing a fps with small hitboxes.

In OP's defense, I think he's talking about those cyclops with BDSM armor that appear in Bitter Black Island. Those can be tricky if you don't pay attention, yeah.

Most ye olde MH > DD > MHW

topkek

Why does Capcom keeps shoving unskippable cutscenes in the games then?

gorecyclops are easy as hell tho

I know you're baiting; I've played a shitload of DD, and the only time I've experienced the camera being shitty is while climbing, and even then only sometimes (like 50% or so I'd say, but your mileage may vary of course).

That said, the games have different flaws. I love them both, but they definitely aren't perfect.

DD doesn't have a bad story though; I actually think it's great, and the way it's told drew me in a lot more than other games. It's not exposition-heavy, and just focuses on existential concepts, which I found very interesting. The fight with the dragon is one of my favourite sequences in any game I've played, period. The journey to the end boss, and what it represents is fantastic as well.

>caring about the story
nerd

Isn’t it awful in BBI?

Well no shit they feel similar, they are both made on the same bloody engine, its like saying skyrim and fallout 4 feel similar
