i am unable to not spoil myself
if a game interests me, i have to know everything about it
How important is it to you to play a game blind?
Not important at all. How the fuck am I supposed to play a game blind?
I'm probably sure that playing RE4 or DMC3 with a guide wouldn't be as magical as playing them blind
It's not something that makes me not want to play but I prefer everything to be a surprise. It's annoying how stuff like Pokemon just have to reveal every single thing before it releases and I wish I could discuss games with Yea Forums while going through the game, people these days are way too lazy to use spoilers.
very important. There's nothing quite like playing certain games completely blind to not only the story, but the mechanics/puzzles/challenges. Then going online and reading how others dealt with difficult parts and you learn
>Dark souls 1/2/3
>Bloodborne
>The Surge
>Resident Evil REmake, 2, 3, 4, CV
>mfw learning you can fucking suplex the enemies in the castle by kneecapping a motherfucker
Really depends on the game in particular.
Games heavily reliant on the actual learning process (like Factorio), or on exploration (like Subnautica) or on very strong story-experience (Like Pathologic 2) REALLY need to be played blind or with absolute minimum previous knowledge, as discovering things on your own is vital to the process.
Games that are relying far more on twitch-skills (like patformers, most shooters), games with itterative gameplay or emergent gameplay (like grand strats) can be played with a lot of previous knowledge and it won't harm the experience.
I remember treading very carefully on the internet before KH3 came out
Of course the story I was given was shit anyway
While I do enjoy playing a game blind, it's becoming more difficult due to me not having enough time to invest in a game, and the amount of footage/live stream/ discussion that goes around the internet. If I am excited for a game but don't have the motive to play it due to time or financial reasons I would just watch streams or some footage. There are some games that even before they release I know are important that I play blind
If possible, then yes.
I can't really get into a game when I know what's ahead. I really enjoyed Breath of the Wild, and I think a big reason for that is that I had no interest in the game at all in the buildup to it's release.
I bought it a year after it came out on a whim without having seen anything, but two e3 trailers, and I had a blast with it.
I think game's are best experienced the way you played them as a kid. Your only exposure to them was the boxart, word of mouth, and maybe an ad or two. When you put the game in you're console you had no idea what you were about to see.
THIS!
I wish I was spoiled to avoid the disappointment.
