I genuinely miss the game manuals of last gen. The Darkness is one that was especially awesome.

You realize that writers and programmers are usually not the same people, right?
The people writing the story, animating cutscenes and so on take no time away from the people designing the gameplay.

But where money is spent matters too. And that's the issue.

The Killzone 1 manual was pretty dope with its presentation as a newspaper for the planet Vekta. Its media bias for the ISA was a nice touch. If only thet every put the same effort into making a game about the helghast rather glassing the whole planet.
