That's true, it is diet that makes you lose weight. If you were running and sustaining yourself with soda and junk food your result is expected.
I had a problem with losing weight for some years. I was jogging on the treadmill my sister got but never used, and kept running, but never seemed to lose weight.
Only recently when I actually ate less and did jumping jacks and jump rope did I lose weight.
