BoF IV has godly sprites

Garou Mark of the wolves

forced animation

How did old arcade games like these make sprites? Like there certainly wasn't an "easy sprite maker", that we have today.

But I guess when your paid like 15 - 20 dollars an hour to sprite, frame by frame everything in a game for like 3 years before release, you do shit really well.

Why does Jotaro have such shit posture in this game in particular?

Look up how Sprite Sheets work. Basically, the game calls/checks on a rectangular area of the sprite sheet every frame

>head doesn't move at all
>hat does

Its just like how older cartoons look better because they were drawn frame by frame, whereas new stuff is just CGI and ends up looking stiff, sterile, and soulless

Metal Slug is King.

"I know nothing about animation", the post

Pic unrelated?

Do games without pixelart count?

Yes, they are still sprites... I think

If I recall, they do it by hand, then translate everything pixel by pixel

You gonna start then? Oh I see you just posted it because you're a jojofag

Why is SNK's sprite art so /nice/ bros?

Why are you so hostile, user?

Sprite editors existed. Sprites were animated traditionally then traced/referenced it in a bitmap editor. Some games rotoscoped 3D models (sonic 3) and some others directly converted pictures into bitmap with some touch ups (donkey kong country, mortal kombat). They used different types of reference depending on the look they wanted. It was a cool time for 2D games.

I really enjoy the look of UNIST's sprites.

I love it

everything Garou

I want a BoF 3 remake with BoF 4's sprites

You should bump the 7th Stand User threads when they show up again, user.

The gba fire emblems had really flashy sprite animations. That's something I miss in the 3d era of FE.

I hope they put Freeman in KOF someday, or at least bring back Orochi Iori.

Yeah, fire emblem really peaked on the GBA with the sprites. I feel like the 3d just has no charm and and all the extra waifu pandering makes the games insufferable nowadays

This looks a SF3 Remy ripoff

I remember Shadows of Valentia had some pretty flashy animations. One of them was pretty similar to this one.

KOFXIII may have some serious balance/gameplay issues but the sprite work is still AMAZING.

That's because it's the bullshit BB model overlay shit. It doesn't look like a sprite.

Is that rotoscoped?

Yes. Most of Elena's animations are rotoscoped. She looks weird in motion desu

Step aside boomers, the new hotness is here.
