I've only played original because fuck buying a Vita when emulation is free so that's what I'd recommend unless you already have one. Original does have a better intro and Chie voice for what it's worth.

The characters in 5 just never clicked for me for some reason.

You would be able to skip through 90% of it on 2nd play through because you could summon an OP persona from the start and autoattack your way through the game. Also you can fast forward through cut scenes and wouldnt have to worry about your personality stats. A 2nd play through is like 10 hours my dude, if that.

I can't listen to Golden Chie without hearing the voice of Quark from VLR, so it just doesn't work for me.

P1 is fucking stupid easy until the major fucking spike in difficulty that is the final boss. I beat normal demons like nothing and right when I fought the final boss, he wiped me in 2 turns.

That is the best way to do it. Hashino's trilogy all have their strong points and weak points, but they are all fantastic games overall.

The other two had reasons to exist, they were released years later on a different platform, they were the usual enhanced (downgraded in P3's case) ports they do all the time when they want quick cash, remember they ported their entire 3DS library to 3DS with some minor enhancements

The anime is the main reason for people's opinion about Marie because most people don't own a vita to play Golden. The thing about Marie is that she is slightly annoying, but her role in the game is tiny compared to the anime and Marie's social link essentially traps in her a bubble that doesn't really pop until you hit the new end-game.
I like Kasumi's design and she seems somewhat alright based on initial impressions since she is filling the underclassman role that Futaba didn't really fill, but she does have the possibility to be way worse just due to being a party member and the third semester most likely focusing on her the most.

I find Persona in general a pain to replay because of the calendar system making the games so long. I wish it was closer to the length of the mainline games, I can finish those in around 30-40 hours

Because they figure if they're going to re-release a game anyway they might as well add something new to it so it's not just a lazy port. P3P, 4G, SJR, Overclocked, Record Breaker, all of them are supposed to be "re-releases on different platforms" with the extra content being bonuses. It's telling that the three re-releases that have been on the same platform (Nocturne Maniax, P3FES and P5R) are the ones that add the most content, not to mention SMT4A was supposed to just be a re-release of SMT4 until they decided that doing that on the same platform would be shitty so they made it a sequel instead.

You mean like how they did with literally every other member of the party? They were hanging out with Naoto months before she actually joined and in general accept new friends easily. It's deliberately like that to contrast with Adachi's loner mentality, not just in 4G (though it was more obvious there because of his social link) but in vanilla as well.

P5R is kind of an interesting case since Hashino has stated in interviews that they had plans for the game that never made it in like a final twist after Yaldy which is obviously what Royal is dealing with. It sounds like P5 was finished and then a team went to work on P5R right after release which means P5R is essentially P5 with another 3 or so years of additions and refinement.

Original. New scenes in Golden are just cheap fanservice where the characters are flanderized versions of their old selves and they shoehorned in a really shitty character whom they rewrote the plot for so that she became a plot essential character and everyone loves her.

I start play P4 Recently and it's fairly good game. Even tho I kinda don't like JRPGs in general.
But still, pretty nice and comfy game.

i want to get as much of the content and dialogue as possible but to do that without following a guide that makes me follow an extremely specific, boring path, i have to restart these long as games and go through several hours of tutorials and early game content just to get the social links and such that i couldn't get because of time restrictions on the first run

I much prefer 4G personally. I think it does the game well to commit more to the SoL aspect of the game than the mystery aspect, the original release felt like it tried to be both but didn't really succeed at either, where 4G commits to one and does a good job of it. I also really like the extra month, especially if you don't bother with Marie, which you shouldn't do anyway because she's the worst addition to the game by far. It's nice to have a month where you don't have to fight and it makes the transition to the end of the game a lot more impactful when you have that moment of peace with a real sense that things are coming to a close, and you get to go around and spend your last moments in Inaba with everybody. It works a lot better than the original release where you just jump right from beating Adachi to the end of the game.

I only played P4U for the first time recently and I really regret not getting into it when it was more alive. Naoto and Adachi both seem like loads of fun. At least I'll be able to get into the ground floor for P5U whenever that comes along.
