Hard difficulty was only challenging during some Paralogues (the Marianne one was absolute hell) and a few post time skip chapters.

Maddening's difficulty is mostly seen during the first chapters, because your units are only level 1 and everything has somewhat inflated stats. The rest should go more smoothly, but no chapter should be slept on.

Marianne's paralogue is one of the easiest maps in the game lmao

Speaking of paralogues, anyone played the ones where you fight the two dragons Indech and Macuil. Jesus christ they're tough motherfuckers even on hard. Both have decent speed, deal magic damage, tanky as fuck and one of them even has quick riposte or I think both do. I swear the dragon in Claude's paralogue could only be fought by Ingrid or Claude who were the only ones that had a decent chance to no die during either phases.

I about to finish my first playthrough of the game (Blue Lion) and I was thinking on going Golden Deer next but I'm not sure if I should go maddening NG+ or not.
To be honest I'm not good enough to do vanilla maddening yet and I know GD is the hardest route but I'm afraid Hard NG+ might make ot too easy and ruin the experience and I'm also afraid maddening NG+ will be too hard and take too long since I want to be done by the time Luigi's Mansion comes out.

Playing on Hard/Classic, without grinding levels, purposely going out of my way to use underleveled characters in battles since it was easy to recruit everyone, the game is still laughably easy.

Enemies not having Breaker skills or any useful skills at all make the entire game a slog since it's almost entirely moving into range with a unit that can tank or dodge what the enemy has, then punish. There are rare paralogues that actually change things up in any meaningful capacity.

Played it, still have my copy of it with Radiant Dawn, Three Houses is the best FE game. It might not have the best gameplay, Conquest has that, but the combination of excellent story (3/4) and great characters (Raphael, Ashe, and Ignatz are the only shit characters), and good gameplay (better than 90% of the FE titles).

Black Eagle route being 5 chapters shorter than the other routes is fucking baffling, especially because the route's epilogue is describing exactly what those last 5 missions should have been, and would have made the story actually make sense.

Maybe wait for some more confirmations and evidence but honestly I'm leaning towards waiting out on BE or Church of Seiros until later DLC comes out.

In NG+, You can actually get Shamir by the time she first officially appears in the story and she still kicks ass. She always starts off as sniper, or at least has the skills to become one.

Who cares about her strentgh? Shamir's str is decent, but it's her dex stat which makes her so damn strong and her high hit rating.

A lot of his supports deal with his idealism and belief in similar redemption if given the opportunity for other thieves. There are only so many characters you can use. My first play, I recruited everyone but Ferdinand and Raphael, after that I recruit everyone. I always use Felix regardless of the route and I always use Dorothea, Lysithea, and Ingrid no matter the route. There is only so much space left which goes to Hilda, Shamir, Sylvain, Flayn, and others. Not enough space and time to use the more boring or shitty characters, Linhardt is one of them.

There are no free battles in Hard and Maddening, and DLC maps uses up battle points. Now that you mentioned it, I REALLY hope that one of the updates or DLCs will allow us to upgrade our Professor level to S+ rank to give up more activity and battle points.

I suppose church, you lose your lord and one of your best units halfway tbrough for the rest of the game. Also the BE kids are kind of shit as units so using them is hell in the early game.

No, maddening purposely keeps throwing units 5 levels higher than your average even if you grind dlc auxillary maps every week. For example fortressknight units at level 30 have almost 40 def, archers can melt anybody or general melee units have a breaker skills so your forced to switch back and forth between as much utility between units.

And Edeltard says the church is bad, when two miracles like this exists

Most players won't even know it's her canon class since she and Hanneman don't pop up in the Battle of Eagle and Lion so thinking about her as an assassin makes little sense to most people

One should know a bit about formations and spacing (and know a lot about other fine points of the combat system) to get past the initial difficulty spike of maddening sans NG+.
Once you're past the red canyon though you should be in control of enough of the strategy aspects of the game to make things a bit less one-sided in favor of the enemy. Don't worry about losing one or two units in the first mock battle on maddening, but know how to make the best of their sacrifice. Also, decide now who you want to use the dlc stat-boost items on if you haven't yet. They're there to help with the initial difficulty spike in maddening.

Not that guy but Ashe is like a 6/10. He's okay, but he's nothing special, especially when compared to the rest of the characters. I like cute boys but Ashe doesn't really deliver. He just looks... weird and unnatural. Claude, Dimitri and Felix are far better.
