PC here, haven't gotten the opportunity to play iceborne yet, how does the Hunting Horn benefit from the new stuff? And I mean objectively, there's always someone who will act like it's the second coming of Christ just because it doesn't do gutter trash tier damage anymore even when it's still subpar. Why does the clutch claw attacks so fucking long to do some times? It takes like an average of 2 seconds to do any move (slap, move, slinger shot, etc) but you barely ever have more than 1 second to get an attack in before the monster will do a move that knocks you off.

It isn't fun to wait for the monster to be stunned or exhausted because they more than likely won't be in position to hit a wall/etc. And even if you do manage to hook on and prepare an attack, they more than likely are doing some gay shit like charging back and forth so you just get knocked off anyone; or some faggot monster comes charging in to fuck you up as well.

It's just aggravating.

Soulsman would do okay he just won't have the base STR high enough to use bigger weapons right away, his natural Evade Window 5 will do wonders with SnS however

Glavenus feels so easy with World's iteration of Lance. In Gen he was one of my hardest match-ups, always dancing infuriatingly just out of reach of my pokes, but in World I have no problem butchering his face with all the new mobility tools.

I only ever claw with the steadfast mantle on. guaranteed wall splat or part weakening unless you take excessive damage and die attempting it.

Hunters would rip through the Soulsborne settings like a truck through a wet tissue.

Characters in MH have far greater mobility, way better armor with all sorts of skills, have more resources in terms of healing, which they can do while healing and have adittional equipment that gives them huge advantages like the slinger + flash pods, clutch claw and mantles. Can you imagine fighting Ornstein and Smough with temporal mantle on?, it would make the fight a joke. Even something like the Orphan of Kos would look meek, since he comparatively has as much HP as a Great Jagras.

On the other hand, can you imagine what a shitshow would be to fight Rathalos with the occasional Rathian butting in as an Ashen one? Not only does Rath have way more HP than any boss in Soulsborne, but they have mobility options against which an Ashen could do very little. You COULD do it, but you’d be underequipped and underpowered for monster hunting, particularly because you wouldn’t get any skills to help you.

How would they naturally make him the strongest? Just look at bitch boy Fatalis, most generic looking dragon, but apparently makes other monsters piss themselves and wears hunters as armor.

nergi needs to be the strongest lorewise. why would they hunt things they couldnt kill? im not saying he needs to be able to easily overwhelm them, just match their strength with a bit of an edge.

Elder dragons aren't as dangerous to the ecosystem as they make you believe, a deviljho is more prone to fuck with it than them, they're hunted because they target trading routes since they're easy prey or simply because they are too near a settlement.

The one thing that always gets me is that stupid fucking laser that moves side to side. Like it starts straight so you move out of the way and then it LOL SWERVEs to the left and right and you're basically bound to be hit by it anyway because it's also moving forward.

I feel like the only way to dodge it is sheer luck or to already have dodged it (eg: being behind the monster) which is just dumb.

He ran away because it was a 2 on 1. He's smart enough to know when to not fight.
Also lets not forget the Elders is the recess aren't even weaker then regular Elders, Zorah was the only one that was ready to die. Velk roams the recess too but she's definitely not close to death.

They should've handled it like Tigrex's charge, when he will transition into an actual attack, like a bite or the tailspin, when he catches up to you. And Bloses at least have horns to fuck you with when they're charging. Kush/Teo would realistically only push you away when they run at you. They don't do a bite or any other actual "attack" during the run. Gore/Shaggy has massive wingarms it can literally trample you over with, so I can let that one slide.

Wait, WHAT? Chaining BB from an R2 attack gives you FF? That's gotta be bullshit. Admittedly I never tried, I only initiate BB from idle, although with a power charged (glowing) Hammer. That one doesn't have built in FF.
But I noticed a similar mechanic in World, but with GS. That wide slash and uppercut after a strong charge retain the charge level. No idea why the fuck would you ever chain into either of those, when you have much better options after a strong charge, but it's in the game nonetheless.

The unsheathed clutch claw while playing Lance is super slow and clunky so I started to sheath before clutch clawing. I main Lance and went through most of the story with it so the bad habit carried over to the other weapons.

Yes, strong charge is immune to being flinched and so is big bang when your hammer is powered up. The same isn’t true about the triangle attacks but you honestly can already do plenty with just charges, big bang and clutch claw.

It honestly feels like they thought of everything anti-fun and crammed it into one monster. I can understand shit like tigrex, barioth, or narga getting the "charge/leap ending with instant re-positioning" since in the old games charge attacks leave them open for too long. But why is it that a monster who already have attack+re-positioning moves gets more on top of what it already have? Jesus christ I am eating haymakers from across the room with no tells and the fucker is already priming its next attack on top of me the moment it lands. The worst fucking part is that the devs somehow manged to make this nigger block the screen 80% of the time. I swear to god I spend half the battle trying to snap the camera that is inside his model back towards him. I honestly can't fathom how people with slow weapons as their mains even deal with this.

There's a setting to give you a shilouette when a monster is obscuring your hunter now

You can’t do it from neutral, but you'll pull it of pretty much every single time if you start charging your hammer and use a lvl 1 or 2 charge before immediately going into big bang combo. Lvl 1 charge is specially good for this because of the immensely powerful follow up that you can also sneak in before mashing the O button.

Not really since you want to discard your HR set in favour of a MR set as early as possible.

Pretty good. Got a new cool attack while losing its gimmick to be the only weapon able to use slinger with weapon drawn.

During any attack you can press Block + X to sheathe your weapon into a Iai stance, and from there you can use either a new two hit attack or consume a spirit level for the ultimate "nothing personnel kid" attack.
Sheathe Speed makes you take the stance faster and the attacks are affected by Crit Draw and Punishing Draw

You have downloaded the 10.12 patch already?
If not, there's an exploit in the 10.11 version that allows you to get a Magazine Jewel right after booting up the game from the ancient elder. You just gotta select Strange Stream and meld 3 decos. The third is guaranteed to be a Magazine Jewel.

I got mine just yesterday and now I'm free from using Dodo armor pieces ever again.

I think I'd like something that let's me stay in the monster's face and doesn't lock me in one place with attack animations too much.
Preferably simple combos, committing long combos to memory by reading a list is not a strong point of mine so I rely on ingraining combos over time to muscle memory

My friend runs HH while I run LS even in duos we're constantly ko-ing monsters to the point where they can't get up.

Hmmm. Hammer could be a good fit. It's a simple weapon to use, with only a few inputs that never get overcomplicated. The thing about it is that if you don't 'get' hammer it is a very sluggish weapon. If you do though, it's the most agile and aggressive heavy weapon, and it very much about going for the face.

Other than that, Insect Glaive could be a good choice, It's absurdly mobile and the optimal DPS combos are mostly two hit strings. You will be able to dance around attacks and punish basically every move the monster does if you get good at it. the catch is that you gotta be good at micromanaging because the weapon comes with a kinsect that is basically a ranged sub-weapon you gotta hit the monster with to get several buffs (4 exist, red - attack, white - mobility, orange - defense and green - health). Now, to not be absolute garbage with IG you basically need red buff because it entirely changes your moves, which becomes extremely strong with it. White is also important and getting Red - White - Orange will give you an even greater buff. The only one you absolutely need is red though. If you can get good at it, you won't regret it.

Sword and Shield is a very flexible weapon that will allow you to do basically anything the other weapons can, although a bit worse. The combos are fairly short (5 hits), and although the best combo requires perfect execution literally every other combo is pretty damn easy to perform. It's one of the better weapons to get a grasp on the basic mechanics of the game and will allow you to apply what you learn there to the other weapons.

Those would be my top three suggestions for you. Probably the most complex out of the gate will be IG btw.

No, you get him via the first special investigation you get in the guiding lands, then talk to the handler to lure him out to either the Coral Highlands or the Ancient forest bits of Guiding Lands.

SnS will require you to run Crit Element builds in IB, so make basically any weapon that has:

>b) high natural affinity

Although you are still stuck in the raw meta over there in PC land, where the Jho SnS is the indisputable king of all SnS.

I like being able to hit basically anywhere on a monster and still do decent damage, I like being able to be fast enough to hit it while it's doing basically any move and still be safe, and I like not being a slow fat fuck when my weapon is unsheathed.

You get to use the /fa/ as fuck Namielle set and actually make use of its ridiculous set bonus. I have to settle with only getting the rad high-collared cape with Velk everything else. Still looks cool, but not as cool as it could be.

How the fuck do people use SnS? The range is so tiny and you're almost moving about like a spaz so it seems like unless you spam the falling slash/bash move your accuracy for hitting whatever part you want to hit is minimal
